For the longest time I have been eyeing the Dior Addict Lip Glow Colour Awakening Lipbalms. At first they only had it in one shade and that didn’t really appeal to me right away, but when I saw this new range of shades I was really sucked in which lead to me buying one of them. The shade I ended up buying is called Berry and I have been wearing it non-stop lately. Therefore I think it’s about time for me to review this little guy. If you’re interested in finding out everything there is to know about the Dior Addict Lip Glow in Berry and if you want to know whether I think it’s worth the excessive pricetag or not, make sure you continue reading!
The Dior Addict Lip Glow comes in a classic Dior packaging. The box is silver like all Dior Addict products and the name ‘Dior Addict’ is written on it in red. I really like the look of the box. I think it looks classy, funky and luxurious all at the same time. When you open the box up you’ll find the product itself. The product does weight quite heavy, mainly because of the packaging because according to the box there’s only 3,5 grams of product in there so that can’t be the cause of the rather heavy weight.
Anyways, the tube the lip balm comes in is mainly pink. Baby pink to be exact. The pink is a bit sheer and through it you can see the other half of the packaging. This other half can be pulled out by pulling the rounded thingy on top. The tube that comes out is silver and holds the lip balm inside. You can twist it to make the product come up and be able to use it.
Overall I think the packaging looks very pretty. I like the pink and I like the combination of the pink with the silver. I also like the shapes they used and how simple they kept it in terms of design. I just really love the look of this tube!
Dior Lip Glow Color Awakening Lip balm – €37
Okay, having discussed the packaging in detail it’s time to start talking about the product itself. Starting off with the shade. The Dior Addict Lip Glow comes in many different shades nowadays, ranging from very wearable and light to darker colours. The shade that I bought, called 006 Berry, is one of the more daring and deeper shades. Like the name already suggests we’re dealing with a berry coloured lip balm here. It’s quite a purple berry shade with it also has a hint of pink to it. It’s not a very reddish berry shade which is something that makes this a more unique colour than I initially expected. Overall I do think that this is a very pretty colour and even though it’s not the most natural and wearable colour, I do think that it’s totally up my alley.
According to Dior their Lip Glow is the must-have universal balm from Dior Backstage. They are inspired by the expert techniques of Dior Backstage and is the first colour reviver balm by Dior combining the comfort of a balm with a natural flush of bespoke colour. Its secret lies in the perfect balance between makeup and lip care, thanks to the famous ‘Colour Reviver’ technology which reacts to the unique chemistry of each person’s lips to give them a natural flush of bespoke colour that suits each skin tone. It is supposed to make the lips look fresh, full and radiant, as if revived from within. Its formula is concentrated in mango butter and provides continual hydration for 24 hours.
Overall it sounds like the perfect tinted lip balm. It’s the perfect balance between a lipstick and a lip balm and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I usually don’t really like wearing a plain old lip balm because I do like to wear some colour on my lips, so a product like this one seems perfect.
Because this is a rather expensive tinted lip balm I do think that it should be exceptional. There are a ton of very affordable or at least more affordable options out there which I absolutely adore, so Dior does have to come with something special in order to justify the price of this little guy.
Even though it might seem like something completely outrageous, I do think that this lip balm is worth the money. I still think it’s crazy expensive, but I’m willing to pay it for this product because I do think that it’s more than a Baby Lips lip balm for example. This has such a nice, hydrating texture. It’s very soft and creamy on the lips, but also nice and balmy. It feels like it melts onto the lips and that’s just an incredibly comfortable feeling.
Aside from that it also does an amazing job at hydrating the lips. It claims that because of the mango butter in it, this lip balm is supposed to hydrate for 24 hours straight and even though 24 hours might be a bit extreme, I do think a big part of that claim is true. Even when the colour has faded, it still feels like my lips are being hydrated. I can actually tell the difference in my lips after wearing this lip balm for one day. You can instantly tell that you have way less dry patches on your lips, maybe even none, and that the dryness-wrinkles are gone. It really makes my lips look fuller, more even and more hydrated and I think that’s a really pretty look.
The pigmentation of the balm is also very nice. It is a more sheer kind of colour because it is a tinted lip balm, but the colour still clearly shows up. Of course it does depend on how many layers you apply and how much pressure you put on the product while applying it, but generally speaking I do think that the colour pay-off is really nice.
On that note, Dior claimed that something in this lip balm was supposed to adjust the colour of the balm to your skin tone. And even though that sounds like magic and therefore like a lie, I do think that it’s kind of true. I do feel like it adjusts itself to my skin tone and therefore it will look slightly different on me than it would on somebody else.
Overall I think that the Dior Addict Lip Glow Colour Reviver Balm is an amazing product. It might seem outrageous to some of you to buy this since it’s such an expensive product and it’s basically just a lip balm, but in my opinion it really is more than that. It feels very similar to the normal Dior Addict Lipsticks, but it’s way more hydrating and way softer than those are. I think that the colour is beautiful as well and I love how pretty it makes my lips look. It really, really works!
And that’s pretty much it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this Dior Lip Glow and whether or not you think it’s worth the money!
