Dior Addict Volume Hydra-Plumping Gloss

18/05/2018

I‘m fully aware of the fact that lipgloss isn’t the most popular makeup product anymore these days. I’m actually pretty sure as well that almost no one is using them or buying them anymore. I have to admit that I haven’t used lipgloss in ages either. However, recently I realised that I didn’t have a single Dior lipgloss and since I’m such a huge Dior fan I just didn’t think that was okay. Therefore I decided to go ahead and buy myself one, just to see what it’s like and whether or not it’s worth the money. I know that this sounds very extreme and all and no I’m not crazy rich, I’m just a big fan of Dior’s makeup and I really want to try all of their products. So, anyway, if you’re interested in finding out more about this gorgeous Dior Addict Hydra-Plumping Volume Lipgloss, make sure you continue reading!

Before we jump into the quality aspects of the lipgloss, let’s first talk about the packaging. I think that Dior packagings are quite well-known in the beauty industry and I honestly can’t image anyone hating the look of them. I mean look at the tube, isn’t this the prettiest thing you have ever seen? The lipgloss comes in a clear rube with Dior printed on the side in clear letters. The top part of the tube is silver and it has this really quite rounded thingy on top that all Dior lip products have. I really don’t know a word to use to describe the look of it with, but well, I think it’s really pretty.

The tube itself isn’t crazy big but it’s a decent size. It comes with a total of 6,5 ml of lipgloss and I don’t think that’s crazy little so I’m okay with it. The applicator it comes with is pretty nice as well. It’s not a regular doe-foot applicator. Instead you get this little brush thingy with flexible hairs. Look at the next picture to see what I’m trying to describe here. Anyways, the brush does work really nicely. It’s precise and it feels very luxurious, I really like working with it.

Overall I’m a huge fan of the packaging. I don’t think that’s a big shocker for you guys, but well, I felt like it was worth mentioning anyway. I think that the packaging looks very luxurious and classy and that’s my favourite look for a packaging.

Dior Addict Volume Hydra-Pluming Gloss – €34,50

Of course Dior doesn’t just create a few colours of lipgloss. No way sir, this lipgloss comes in many, many shades. Therefore it was quite a challenge for me to find the one colour that would look prettiest on me. It took me quite some time and a lot of intense googling until I made my choice. I ended up going for the shade 785 Diorama. I love that name a lot and this seemed like a colour that’s just perfectly up my alley.

Diorama is a very pretty rosy pink colour with a nice sheen to it. I have to say that usually I don’t like my lipglosses to contain any shimmer whatsoever. Not at all usually. I like ’em creamy and clean. However, this one does come with some shimmer in it. When I first noticed that I wasn’t quite sure how to feel. I felt a little sad because it made me think that I would end up hating the colour after all.

However, that wasn’t the case. In fact, the shimmer in this lipgloss isn’t overpowering at all. It’s very minimal and therefore it doesn’t bother me on the lips. I actually like the few specks of glitter that are in this lipgloss because they make my lips look even more special and pretty.

Having said that, let’s talk claims. According to Dior this is more than just a gloss, it’s a lip plumper and gloss all in one. It is supposed to offer 3 benefits:

  • Ultra-Plumper:  +14% immediate volume*. Its plumping formula gives lips a supple, plump shape bursting with freshness
  • Ultra-glossy: 97% of women say**, lips are glossed with an incredibly thin and easy-wearing mirror-shine film
  • Ultra-hydrating: 6 hours of continuous, deep moisturization*** for smoothed, plumped lips

The Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss provides a sheer, fresh colour to the lips with an ultra-glossy finish and a gorgeous shine. It creates brighter, bolder makeup and works great on its own as well as on top of the Dior Addict Lipsticks.

Overall it sounds like this lipgloss is going to be really nice. I mean, a lipgloss that will hydrate, plump and add a gorgeous glossy look to the lips, who doesn’t want that? I know I do. But are these claims really true? That’s the real question we’re dealing with here!

Well, I can say that, as far as the texture goes, I’m a really big fan of it. Lipglosses are know for their annoying sticky texture that make them feel very annoying and uncomfortable on the lips. However, this lipgloss isn’t like that at all. It actually has this very smooth and silky texture, almost a bit like a lip balm, that makes it feel way more comfortable on the lips than you could ever imagine.

In terms of adding a nice touch of colour and gloss to the lips I think this lipgloss isn’t disappointing either. As Dior tells us in their claims and as we can expect from a lipgloss the coverage is sheer. However, it does do something for my overall look. I have very pale and unpigmented lips and this lipgloss adds that bit of colour to my lips that I miss. It makes my complexion look a bit more healthy and fresh and it makes my lips look more ‘kissable’. Because of the glossy effect my lips look plumped and therefore a bit bigger so that’s really nice as well.

The plumping effect might not seem that extreme and I don’t think it is, but it is there. In a very minimal and natural way. So if you really want to get these Kylie Jenner lips, you might want to try something else.

When it comes to the staying power I have to say I’m not disappointed one bit. In my experience lipglosses stay in place pretty well because they really stick to the lips and even though this isn’t a very sticky lipgloss it does stay in place very well. I’m really happy about that!

Overall I really have nothing bad to say about the Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss in Diorama. I know that lipgloss isn’t the worlds’ favourite product anymore and usually it isn’t my favourite either, but this lipgloss really got me. It makes me more interested in trying lipglosses again and that’s something no lipgloss was able to do in a long time. So if you love glossy lips or if you want to fall back in love with lipglosses as well, you might want to give this lipgloss a shot!

And that will be it for today. Thank you so much for reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this stunning Dior Addict Lipgloss and whether or not you think it’s worth the money!
