Dior is my very favourite luxury makeup brand and therefore I’m very excited about today’s review. A while ago I bought one of the Dior Addict Fluid Lipsticks in a very bright red colour. Something I’d usually never go for, but in this instance I’m actually pretty excited about it. It’s a gorgeous bright red colour perfect for the holiday season as well as for any other time of the year. I’ve been trying it out for a while which means it’s finally time for me to review it. If you’re interested in finding out more about this gorgeous bright red lip colour, make sure you continue reading!
The Dior Addict Fluid Stick comes in a very elegant and Dior-like packaging. It’s shaped like a lipstick and it has a clear bottom part and a silver top part. The lid has a little round thingy on top of it like all other Dior lip products have. I think the packaging looks very classy and luxurious. It has something elegant to it, something that makes you feel like you’re using the finest makeup in the whole wide world. Because it’s an expensive product I definitely think that it should look this luxurious, I mean I’m not paying that amount of money for a crappy looking lipgloss, but still, I like it and I think Dior deserves to be appreciated for their effort when it comes to creating these stunning packagings.
The applicator that comes with this Fluid Stick is rather unique. Instead of a regular doe-foot applicator it comes with a triangular shaped spongy applicator. It has a little dent in the middel to hold product I suppose. I like that the applicator is a little smaller than the regular doe-foot applicators and I like the shape of it. It’s a bit more precise and that’s definitely a necessity if you’re going to apply a bright coloured lip product like this one!
Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Pandore – €37
Moving on to the claims. According to Dior this is the first ‘do-it-all’ hybrid lip fluid. This hybrid combination forms a totally new lip product. The unique formula of the Dior Addict Fluid Stick creates colour, shine and a long lasting look all in one layer. The Fluid Stick is supposed to have the intensity and longevity of a lipstick, combined with the shine of a lipgloss. It’s free of wax and because of the use of water it’s a weightless and long lasting product. It’s supposed to be sensationally comfortable.
Overall Dior makes it sound like this product is everything you need. It’s a combination of a lipgloss and lipstick and I think that’s a great combo. I love how intense lipsticks can be and how long lasting they are, but I’m also a huge fan of how lightweight and glossy lipglosses can be.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, it could all be a bit too good to be true. But it’s not. It really is as amazing as Dior makes it sound, maybe even more amazing and I’m going to tell you why in just a second!
Let’s start off by discussing the texture. This Fluid Stick has a consistency similar to the consistency of a lipgloss, but it’s not as sticky as a lipgloss is. Actually, it’s not sticky at all. Anyway, it’s very lightweight and comfortable on the lips. It’s feels very soft and smooth and I love how nice it feels when I press my lips together. It’s so much more comfortable than all of those liquid lipsticks.
Another thing I like about the texture, aside from the fact that it’s very comfortable to wear and lightweight, is that it’s also very easy to apply. I wasn’t completely sure about how well the application would go since I have very shaky hands and I’m not that good at applying lip products in general, but it went on pretty smoothly. Like Dior already claimed one layer is enough to get the full effect and that one layer is so quick and easy to apply. It only takes me about a minute for a full on lip and that’s not a lot for applying a bright lip colour like this, especially not if you’re a lip-noob like me and you’re just incapable of staying inside the lines.
I also think that the Fluid Stick went on very evenly. On the pictures below I think you can tell pretty well what I mean with that. It’s not like there are bald spots in the middle of my lips or anything like that. If you do want to apply another layer of product you can easily do so without moving the product, so that’s a great feature.
Pigmentation wise this Fluid Stick is just impressive. I have no other words to describe it but impressive. Look at that colour, and all of that in one layer. I bet you didn’t expect that from a lipgloss-looking product like this one. I know I didn’t. Of course I think that the pigmented, bright look is absolutely stunning. I think it looks fabulous. However, it’s not very wearable. And since this is a rather expensive product I do think it’s important to be able to wear it even when I want to go for a more natural look. How to create that look is displayed on the top picture.
On that picture I just applied a few dots of gloss all over the lips and blended that in using my fingertips. You can also blend it using a brush, a q-tip or the applicator that comes with it after wiping off most of the product that is already on it, but I think using your fingertips is the easiest way to do so. However, be aware of the fact that there will be a lot of pigmented gloss on your fingers, so don’t touch anything before taking that off so you won’t get red colour everywhere!
When it comes to longevity I’m very impressed. I honestly didn’t expect a lipgloss-like product like this to stay in place for a long time at all. Especially since it’s such a glossy product. However, I was dead wrong. This product doesn’t budge. The intensity might fade after a while, that’s perfectly possible, however the colour will stay on your lips all day. The red stains your lips and therefore your lips will be red all day long, even if most of the Fluid Stick has already faded off.
Overall I think this is one of the greatest products I’ve ever tried. I knew Dior had some amazing products in their collection but this is just insane! It’s everything Dior claims it is and more. It’s the most pigmented, comfortable and longlasting gloss-like product I have ever tried in my entire life. I love the glossy finish and I love that it can look very bright and opaque but that you can also create a more natural look using it. I’m obsessed with this Fluid Stick, it’s just stunning!
