One of my beauty goals for this year is to focus more on skincare. I’ve been quite busy with that lately already, but I still have a long way to go. Because of that I thought it might be fun to show you guys my current skincare routine and my ideal skincare routine: the routine I’d love to have by the end of the year. If you’re interested in finding out more, make sure you continue reading!
So, let’s start with my morning skincare routine. The first thing I use in the morning is Bioderma. I use this to get rid of the excess oil on my skin and to get rid of the last bits and pieces of left over makeup from the day before. It creates a clean canvas for my makeup, and I like that.
After that I go in with a moisturiser. Recently I started using the Clinique Dramatically Different Gel Moisturiser. This is a very light weight and quick absorbent moisturiser that makes my skin feel like satin. It’s absolutely insane. After that I also like to apply a bit of eye cream. The one I use at the moment is by The Body Shop. It’s their Elderflower eye gel. This is a gelly eye cream that reduces puffiness underneath the eyes.
After those three steps I start applying my makeup. So that’s basically the end of my morning skincare routine. However, the primer I’m currently using is in fact a skincare product. It’s the Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfector. I apply this all over my face focussing on my T-zone to reduce the appearance of pores.
In the ideal situation my morning skincare routine would be a little bigger. I would use better products, especially for the eye-area and I would use some sort of serum to add that little bit extra moisture to the skin that it needs.
At the end of the day I obviously like to take off all of my makeup. In order to do that I mostly use the Vichy Normaderm Purifying Gel. I do alternate between that and the TBS Camomile makeup removing oil, but the Vichy one is my current favourite.
After that I either use a foaming face wash by Nivea or some sort of scrub. The scrub I use most often is by Nivea as well. It’s their Clean Deeper purifying cleaning gel. This has really small scrub particles in it that scrub your face in a really gentle way while getting rid of the lasts bit of makeup. I also smells really nice and fresh so that’s a big plus too.
In the ideal situation I would use higher quality products to remove my makeup. I would use a scrub with better ingredients and without perfume that would be way more gentle for my skin. I do really like the Vichy Purifying Gel so I think that would stay.
After I get out of the shower I sometimes have a bit of makeup left around the eye area. To get rid of that I like to use the Avène Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. Once that’s done I like to use a toner, the TBS Aloe Calming Toner and a night cream which is from the same range as the toner.
In the ideal situation I would first of all use an exfoliator and I would use a different toner. Even though it says that it’s calming, it stings a little. I would also use a different moisturiser that is specifically formulated for the night time so it’s way more moisturising and restoring than this one is.
As you can tell I already have quite a few good steps in my skincare routine, but I’m not there yet. I hope you liked reading it and be sure to let me know which products you’d recommend and let me know what your skincare routine looks like!
XOXO, Nicole.
