Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Lippie Stix in Aquarius

04/01/2019

Believe it or not, but today it’s time for my very first Colourpop review EVER! Back on Black Friday I ordered a couple of products from their website and I’ve been testing them out for a while now. The first product I will be reviewing is the famous Lippie Stix in the shade Aquarius. I’ve been wanting to try one of their Lippie Stix from the moment I heard about them and now I finally did. This did leave me with pretty high expectations, so if you’re curious to find out whether this product met those high expectations, make sure you continue reading this post!

Let’s start everything off with talking about the packaging. The Lippie Stix comes in a long, slim and white plastic tube. The tube is made out of plastic and you can feel that it’s not very sturdy or high-quality material. It actually feels pretty cheap. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t like the way this looks. I like the white colour because I do think that’s pretty signature for Colourpop and I like that it’s long and slim. I also like that the inside has the same colour as the lippie stix itself and the same goes for the bottom of the tube.

Another thing I like about the packaging is the fact that it’s one of those twistable packagings. So you twist the product up and you can apply it to the lips. Compared to a regular lipstick packaging it’s much slimmer and I think that this makes the application proces much easier. You do have a lot more control and you can be more precise with it. So I really like that about it.

All in all I think the packaging is pretty cute. Looking at the price I don’t think you can blame them for the fact that the packaging feels a little cheap. And aside from that cheapish material I think the packaging does look pretty cute, so that’s a big plus.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Aquarius – $5,50

Having said that, let’s have a chit chat about the colour. I bought the shade Aquarious. This is a shade from the collab with Kathleen Lights. I don’t watch a ton of her videos but I do really like her and I like that she collabs with Colourpop so often. I also think that this is one of the prettiest shades in their collection which is another reason why I really wanted to get this shade.

I always struggle a bit with describing what shades look like, but if I had to describe it I’d say this is a really creamy peachy nude colour. Like a strawberry and peach milkshake. It’s very natural and I think it will suit quite a lot of skin tones. With nudes it’s always hard to decide whether or not it’s going to make you look like you’re wearing concealer on your lips or just a lipstick, but I feel like this colour is just right for me. It shouldn’t have been any lighter, but if it were to be darker it would probably be too dark for me.

Having said that let’s talk about the claims. According to Colourpop this Lippie Stixs formula contains vitamin E, mango, avocado and shea butter for added comfort and moisture. They also say that none of their Lippie Stix contain any nasty ingredients like parabens and sulfates. They say that this crème formula has medium to full coverage and that it’s ultra creamy and melts onto the lips. In terms of application they recommend you to exfoliate the lips and use their Lippie Primer in advance. They also recommend using the matching Lippie Pencil to achieve the perfect finished look and give the appearance of fuller lips.

Well I have to say that I didn’t get the Lippie Primer and the Lippie Pencil because I don’t think I’m going to use all of that in real life anyway, so all I did is apply the Lippie Stix to my lips. As you can tell it does have quite a bit of pigment and that is something I didn’t necessarily expect to be honest. I thought it bought have some pigment, but I didn’t think it was going to be like this. Normally I do love sheer colours, but in this case I don’t hate the pigmentation on this. I also really love the finish of the lipstick. This is, like they said, a super creamy formula. It really does melt onto the lips and it has that pretty creamy, glowy finish that I love so much. I think that this is what makes it look very natural.

Like they said this formula is really comfortable to wear. It feels like a lip conditioner and I love the way that feels. I actually feel like it does make my lips feel softer after it has faded off. The one downside to this formula is that it isn’t longlasting at all and that it does look a little funky on the part of my lips that’s more towards the inside of my mouth. It doesn’t look very polished and smooth and it’s not at all transfer proof.

I think that if you will be eating or drinking or doing a lot of talking and kissing this lipstick won’t be on there for super long. I do think that it ‘sets’ after a couple of minutes which makes it a bit more longlasting, but overall it doesn’t stay in place all that well. I feel like you need to re-apply often and that therefore your product won’t last you super long.

All in all I do really love the Colourpop Lippie Stix in Aquarious. I think that the shade is really pretty and that it matches my skin and hair colour really well. I also love the creamy formula, this is one of the most comfortable lipsticks to wear that I know of. The only downside I can name about this product is that it isn’t longlasting at all. Aside from that I think it’s pretty much perfect, so definitely a product I’d recommend giving a try!

With that being said I think it’s time to end today’s post. Thank you so much for reading and be sure to let me know what you think of this adorable Lippie Stix in Aquarious!
