I have to admit that I don’t really know how it happened, but somehow, a couple of weeks ago, I really wanted to try out the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Gel-Creme. I was looking through my testers and found a little sample jar. I tested it on my skin and the next day my skin felt amazing, so I decided to get a full size jar of it. When I went to the store I came across this little gift set including the moisturiser and a mini scrub. I bought it and I’ve been testing it ever since. Today I felt like reviewing it, so that’s what I’m going to do right now. If you’re interested in finding out more about this unique Clinique gel-creme and whether or not it’s worth purchasing, make sure you continue reading!
Before we start talking about the main product of today, let’s first quickly have a little chat about the mini scrub I got in the set. This is the Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream. It comes in a little green tube like lots of Clinique products do and I do like the look of it. In terms of size it’s really handy for on the go.
When you look at the back of the tube you actually don’t find a lot of information on what this is. All it says is how to use it. Luckily the Clinique website does tell us a little more about this product. According to Clinique this is a favourite of the dermatologist. It’s soft enough to use it on a daily basis and it will also make your skin feel soft and minimise fine lines.
Those aren’t too big or too crazy claims, but to me they do sound interesting. Usually scrubs are quite harsh and therefore not incredibly good for your skin. This one however claims to actually be soft enough and that’s what interests me about this product.

Having discussed that, let’s move on to the main event of today: reviewing the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Gel-Creme. What a mouth full right?! This moisturiser comes in a really pretty jar. The jar itself is made out of clear material through which you can see the product. The name of the brand is written on it in silver and the rest of the text on this jar is just white. The lid it comes with is silver as well, which I think looks really pretty with the rest of the jar. Overall I really like the design.
In terms of size I’m a big fan of this little guy as well. I got the 30 ml version of this moisturiser, which is the smallest one. Because of this the jar is very compact and doesn’t take in much space at all. It also feels very lightweight, which makes it great for travelling by plane when you have to deal with weight restrictions.
If you know that you really like this moisturiser, there’s also a 50 ml version available. This jar is also quite compact, but a little less compact than this one of course.

Having said that, let’s start talking about the product. According to Clinique their Moisture Surge moisturiser is a light, comfortable gel-creme, formulated without oil, that will keep your skin hydrated for 24 hours. It will fully fade fine lines and the tight feeling of your skin when it’s dehydrated. It will leave you with supple, firm and lively skin, even when the humidity level is fluctuating. It’s suitable for all skin types, but great for dehydrated skin.
Overall it sounds like a great product for my skin. I really like lightweight, gel-based skincare products and I do have some struggles with the amount of hydration in my skin.
So, let’s start talking about my experiences with this product. Let’s start off with discussing the texture of the moisturiser since I think that’s one of the main things that makes this moisturiser so amazing. Because this is a gel-creme this is a very lightweight product. It feels nice and cooling on the skin, isn’t heavy at all and it’s super blendable. A little bit of product goes a very long way, so this is a very durable product. Aside from that I also like the texture because it sinks in very quickly and it doesn’t make my skin feel greasy in any shape or form. If you have oily skin I think you know how annoying thick and heavy moisturisers feel on the skin. Well, this is the complete opposite of that and that’s just the most comfortable thing ever.
Another thing I love about the texture is that, once applied, it feels very, very smooth. I have experienced the same exact thing with the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel and I love it. It is very difficult for me to describe, but somehow this moisturiser really smoothens your skin. It makes it feel as if your skin is good as new and all of the texture will fade. You just really have to feel what it’s like, it’s amazing!
Enough about the texture, let’s start talking about whether it works or not. In my experience this moisturiser works pretty dang well. It does everything it should do. It moisturises my skin very well, it takes away areas that might be a little more dry than usual and because of its hydrating effect it also takes away the dullness in my skin. I also feel like it works really well when you have just taken a shower or something like that and your skin feels very tight. This product feels so relieving at times like that. It’s really nice.
It also creates a great base for my makeup. Because of the smoothening and hydrating effect it creates a nice and smooth canvas for the rest of my makeup, which actually improves the way that my foundation lays on top of my skin.
Overall I’m really, really happy I gave this set a chance. I really fell in love with the moisturiser. It’s just as amazing, if not more amazing, than the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel which I already love so dearly. Its smoothening effect is just phenomenal and I love how well it hydrates my skin and how healthy it makes me look. Yup, this is a great product and I definitely recommend trying it if you have either combination/oily or dehydrated skin.
And that will be it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and be sure to let me know if you think this is a great moisturiser or not and also let me know which moisturiser is your current favourite!
