Lately I’ve been obsessed with Clinique and their amazing little makeup sets. I bought quite a lot of them, including the limited edition Clinique Getaway Brights set. This set comes with a chubby stick, an eye pencil and a mini mascara and all three products just looked really interesting to me. Today I’m going to go through all three and tell you everything there is to know about them. If you’re interested in reading about that, make sure you continue reading!
Like I said this Clinique Getaway Brights set comes with three product. First of all you get a mini of the amazing Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara. You also get a travel size of the Clinique Quickliner For Eyes Intense in the shade Ebony and lastly you get a full size Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in the shade Plushest Punch. All together you get quite a lot of products for what you pay, especially considering that the smaller sized products are still pretty big. I’m really liking that!
The products come inside an adorable little box with a summery design on it. There are a total of three different sets available in this Getaway-set collection and all three have a different full size product. This one comes with a full size Chubby Stick, the other one comes with a full size High Impact Mascara and the other one with a full size lipgloss. I decided to go for this one because I really love that mascara and I’ve been meaning to try their chubby sticks for ages now.
Clinique Limited Edition Getaway Brights Set – €21,50
Having said that, let’s jump into the review. The first thing I want to talk about is the Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara. I actually bought this mascara a couple of weeks ago, well, a couple of months ago actually, and I’ve written a pretty detailed review on it already. But because I’m sure most of you haven’t read that, I’ll go over the main points again, but if you want to read a more detail review about the mascara, you might want to check that post out!
The Clinique Chubby Lash Mascara the most volumising mascara in Clinique’s current collection. It has a very big and thick wand and it’s supposed to add tons of volume and drama to the lashes without weighing them down. It comes in a very black colour as well as in some other more fun colours like blue.
Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara – €19,50
Like I said the wand of the mascara is pretty thick. It has those spikey hairs and for me that works really, really well. Thanks to that this mascara won’t look clumpy on the lashes or stick them together. Instead it actually does an amazing job at separating them. I really like the way it looks, and this is only one coat of mascara. Only one coat already adds so much volume and definition to the lashes, but two coats is even more amazing. How many coats I apply does depend on the day, but I like it both ways.
The staying power of this mascara is amazing. It stays in place all day, it doesn’t loose its intensity or darkness and it doesn’t smudge underneath the eye. It’s also not a super dry formula so it won’t get flakey throughout the day which is another big plus about this mascara. Overall I’m just loving it and I’ll definitely continue using this mascara for a long, long time!
Moving on to the second product in the pack. This is the Clinique Quickliner For Eyes Intense in the shade Intense Ebony. An eye pencil might seem like the most boring product ever to some of you since eye pencil just isn’t the most popular product out there, but I personally do like using eye pencils (since I’m terrible at applying actual eyeliners) and therefore I was pretty excited about this one.
Intense Ebony is just a very deep black shade. It’s very, very deep and I like that. I can also appreciate the occasional dark brown eye pencils, but a black isn’t too bad either. Because it’s this intense and deep it could even act as a really amazing black liner along the upper lash line. Of course a less black eye pencil could be used to do that too, but I always think that if you use black there, it should be an intense one.
Clinique Quickliner For Eyes Intense in Intense Ebony – €22
According to Clinique their Quickliner For Eyes Intense is supposed to be very richly pigmented for instant intensity. It should glide over the eye and be very long wearing. It has a super soft formula and doesn’t need to be sharpened. Overall it’s supposed to be the most amazing eye pencil ever and I was ready to put that to the test.
For some strange reason I didn’t have very high expectations of this pencil. Not at all actually. I expected it to be rather dry or harsh and I didn’t expect too much of the pigmentation. Boy was I wrong. This pencil is literally the opposite of what I thought it was going to be. It’s super soft and rich and it, like Clinique claims, glides over the eye so incredibly smoothly. It’s seriously one of the smoothest pencils I’ve ever felt. It’s even softer and richer than my beloved Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils and that’s a pretty big deal!
I mean just look at it! Look at how intense and black that line is, and that’s just one simple swipe across my hand without putting too much pressure on the pencil. It almost seems as if it’s a liquid liner, looking at the swatch. Isn’t it just amazing? I’m really impressed by the swatch.
The staying power of the pencil is just as amazing as the pigmentation and the texture is. This pencil really surprised me. It stays in place so long, almost all day. Of course if you have very watery eyes it will fade sooner than if you’re someone with dryer eyes, but overall it just stays in place all day.
Overall I’m really happy I got this pencil and I’m just so surprised by it. I expected it to be the least interesting product out of the three and I’m actually most impressed by it. Isn’t that great?!
Lastly we have the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense. This is the one full size product out of the set. I’ve always wanted to have a Chubby Stick so finding out this set actually came with a full size Chubby Stick made me really happy. The Chubby Sticks are shaped like a very big crayon. I actually believe that Clinique was one of the first, maybe even the first, to launch pencil-shaped lip products (and later also cheek and eye products). It has always seemed very convenient and easy-to-use to me, which is why it seemed like a product that would be right up my alley.
Nowadays Clinique has quite a wide variety of Chubby Sticks. They have them for the eyes, for your cheeks, they have a contour version and they have multiple lip Chubby Sticks. The one that comes in this set is from the Chubby Stick Intense range, which means that these are very pigmented.
Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Plushest Punch – €20,50
The colour I got is called Plushest Punch. Plushest Punch is a very bright pink colour. It does have a bit of red to it which makes it lean towards a berry, but the pink clearly is overpowering making this a bright pink lip colour. Usually I’m not that big of a fan of bright pink colours, of any super bright colours actually, but I do like the look of it. I might not have chosen it myself, but that’s definitely not a bad thing. It actually gives you the opportunity to try something you’d otherwise never have tried.
According to Clinique the Chubby Stick Intense is the perfect combination of a hydrating lip balm and an opaque lipstick. It has intense pigmentation but at the same time the Shea butter, mango butter and Jojoba oil protect and hydrate to create soft, supple and hydrated lips.
All together it sounds like this is the perfect lip product. It should be hydrating and therefore rather comfortable, but it’s also pigmented at the same time. You don’t have to choose which one of the two you want anymore. And even though that does sound too good to be true, it’s actually very true. As you can tell this Chubby Stick Intense is definitely very intense. It’s crazily pigmented and that’s amazing. It also has the most amazing texture. It’s so smooth and creamy but also very lightweight. It applies like a dream.
The only downside to this amazingness is the fact that this isn’t a transfer-proof lip product. Definitely not. After wearing it for a couple of hours it’s not as transferrable as it is right after you apply it, but it’s not stain proof and that’s something you need to know. If you don’t eat and drink too much it could stay in place for an impressive amount of hours, but if you do drink a lot I’d actually recommend just not wearing it because you’ll probably end up smudging it everywhere.
Overall I really like all three products in this set. The mascara wasn’t new to me, but it’s still an amazing product. I have always wanted to try one of the Chubby Sticks so I’m really glad I finally did. And I absolutely loved it. It’s a gorgeous product. However, the product that surprised me the most is the Quickliner For Eyes Intense. This is just the best eye pencil in the entire world, I absolutely love it! In conclusion I think this set is incredible, especially considering the price, and therefore I’d definitely recommend getting it if you’re on the hunt for some new makeup products!
And that’s basically it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this little set and which product is your favourite out of the three!
