Clinique Chubby Family Set

03/10/2017

Lately I’ve been in love with the brand Clinique. I already loved their skincare and now I’m falling more and more in love with their makeup as well. Recently I bought a couple of their makeup sets so I could try out a couple of their products. One of the sets I bought is the Clinique Chubby Family Makeup Set and that’s the one I’ll be reviewing today. So, if you’re interested in reading all about this adorable looking makeup set, make sure you continue reading!

Before we start talking about each product individually, I first want to talk about the set as a whole. Clinique has a couple of different sets available at the moment. One of which is the Chubby Family Set. This set is filled with a few different products from the Chubby range from Clinique. Clinique is pretty famous for their Chubby Sticks, which, for those of you who don’t know, are big lip pencils. But nowadays it’s not just for lips anymore. They have a whole collection including Chubby Sticks for the eyes, cheeks, contouring and also a Chubby mascara.

If you buy this set you’ll receive a travel size of the Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara. You’ll get a small Chubby Stick for Cheeks and a small Chubby Stick for the lips. All three are small sizes, but you still get quite a lot of product. Especially the two Chubby Sticks will probably last me forever.

Clinique Chubby Family Set – €15

Having discussed that, let’s get into the review. The first product I want to discuss is the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm. It comes in a pencil shaped packaging with a clear lid and a silver bottom part which you can twist in order to push the product up. The pencil contains 1,2 grams of product. The full size comes with 3 grams, so it’s about half of the full size.

Overall I’m not a huge fan of the packaging because I don’t like the clear lid at all, but aside from that I do think it looks cute. I also think it’s a very handy design when it comes to using it because you have lots of control but it works really quick at the same time. It’s just a very handy product to colour your lips with, especially if you’re not a pro at that yet.

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm – €20,50 (full size)

The colour I received is called 06 Whopping Watermelon. In the tube it appears to be quite a barbie pink colour so I didn’t really get where they got the name from. It doesn’t really remind me of watermelons. However, it is a really pretty shade. It could look very natural and soft and I feel like it goes really well with a lot of makeup looks. Especially because it’s not the most pigmented lip product on earth I feel like it could definitely become an everyday staple!

And as you can tell from the swatch – btw don’t mind my super chapped lips – it’s definitely not the most pigmented product. I have to say that I did expect it to be a little more intense, but I don’t mind the fact that it isn’t. It adds a really pretty shine to the lips and makes them look a little more plumped. I also like the little glitters in it because it isn’t too extreme, but it does add a nice touch to the lips.

But my favourite thing about this product isn’t the way it looks, it’s actually the way it feels. I have never had a lip product this comfortable. It literally feels like you’re wearing lip balm. It’s so lightweight, soft and creamy. It’s not heavy at all and it doesn’t bother you while living your life. It also applies very smoothly thanks to this amazing texture and for me that’s a huge plus as well. It’s just a great everyday product that is quick to work with and doesn’t feel too terrible on the lips.

Overall I’m quite a fan of the product. Even though the colour might not have been my first pick, I do like the way it looks on my lips. I’m also a big fan of how easy this product is to work with and how comfortable it is to wear. This definitely is an amazing everyday lip product and therefore I really like it!

Moving on to the second product of the three. This is the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm. The packaging it comes in looks pretty similar to the packaging of the Chubby Stick for lips, but this one is a lot thicker. Opposed to the Chubby Stick for lips this one does come with a silver lid and I think that looks so much better. It makes it look a lot less cheap and more professional. Size wise it’s also pretty decent. It comes with 3,6 grams of product and the full size with 6 grams, so you get more than half the amount you’d get if you’d buy the full size.

The colour I received is called Roly Poly Rosy. It think that’s an absolutely adorable name and the name does fit the colour of the blush really well. It’s just a really pretty rosy colour. It’s a bit darker than your regular pink blush colour, but I’m always a big fan of that, so for me it’s absolutely perfect.

Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm – €25 (full size)

The thing I like the most about this product is the texture. I generally really like blush sticks, but some tend to be a little hard and therefore hard to work with. This one isn’t like that at all. It’s actually very soft and creamy and it goes on so incredibly easy. It doesn’t move the foundation at all and it’s also very easy to blend. It could be blended it using a Beautyblender, a brush but also using your fingers and either way it will end up looking really pretty.

I also like how natural these stick blushes can look. Off the bat it might seem like a super bright colour that would definitely be too extreme for a blusher, but it is not. Of course you have to be careful with how much you apply, a little bit does go a very long way, but because you spread that little bit over your entire cheek it will look very soft and natural and I really like it.

Another one of my favourite things about this blush stick is the fact that it stays in place really well. Because it isn’t a powder that you can accidentally wipe off your face and because you do set it with a powder this blush ain’t going nowhere. It stays on the cheeks all day long and that’s definitely something unique for blush. Blush usually isn’t the most longlasting product in the world.

Overall I’m just a huge fan. I absolutely adore the colour of this product, it’s just stunning and perfect for autumn and winter. I also really like how soft it is and how easy it blends out. Aside from that it also stays in place incredibly well and overall it just looks flipping stunning. It’s one of my favourite blushes at the moment!

Moving on to the very last product of this review. I actually don’t want to talk about it too much because I’ve already reviewed the Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara twice now. But in short: it’s a mascara with a really nice spiky wand. It’s great at separating the lashes and it’s even better at volumising them. It’s definitely one of the most volumising mascara’s that I have tried so far and that’s definitely a good thing.

It’s also a very longlasting mascara. It stays intense all day and keeps my lashes looking amazing no matter what. Even though it doesn’t claim to be waterproof it can handle a bit of rain, some tears or a lot of sweat so that’s another great thing about it. Overall it’s just one of my current favourite mascara’s and I love that I now have another backup of it!

By the way, the tube that comes in this set contains 4 grams of mascara. The full size comes with 9 ml. Because of the different units you can’t really compare that, but let’s say you get a little less than half of the full size.

Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara – €19,50 (full size)

Overall I really like all three product that come in this Clinique Chubby Family Makeup Set. My favourite is the Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm because of its amazing colour and the amazing quality, but I’m also a huge fan of the mascara and the Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm. If you’re interested in trying out some of the Clinique Chubby products, this is definitely a great set to buy!

And that’s it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this makeup set and which product you like the most!
