Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base

15/10/2017

Pretty recently I heard someone say that the Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base was amazing and for some reason that made me want to buy it. So, a couple days later I went to the store and I got myself a tube of it. It’s actually my first Clarins product ever so that makes it even more exciting. Anyway, I’ve been testing this product for quite some time now which means it’s time for me to finally write a review about it. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about this product, make sure you continue reading!

Okay, let’s start this review off by discussing the packaging shall we? Clarins generally has pretty classy packagings. Their products come in red boxes which, to me, seem pretty luxurious and most of their packagings contain gold elements. This product comes in a tube which has a bit of pinky tone to it since this is the pink version of the product. The lid as well as the pump are gold, which goes really well with the pinky tint of the packaging. Overall I think the packaging looks very chic and classy. I like that it comes with a pump and I also like the shape of the tube.

The tube comes with 30 ml of product which is pretty basic for a skin product, however, lots of primers only come with 15 ml so if you consider that it might also be quite a lot. Overall I think it’s just a normal amount but I do appreciate that they give us 30 ml instead of 20 or even 15 ml.

Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base – €32,60

The Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base comes in three different shades. There is a champagne version which is supposed to correct redness in the skin. There is a peach version that restores lustre to medium and matte skin and lastly there is a rose version that brightens all complexions.

If you know colour correcting you might be aware of the fact that pink is supposed to fight dullness. It’s supposed to brighten the skin and make you look more awake. Since I’m someone who’s tired about 95% of the time I felt like this rose version would be perfect for my skin problems.

Aside from the colour thingy Clarins also claims that this is a lightweight base that gives you a perfect complexion everyday that naturally illuminates and corrects your skin tone for a flawless finish. It’s also supposed to offer hydrating and soothing skincare benefits due to the katafray bark extract in here. They also say that this base optically corrects imperfections and that it will leave a veil of light radiance on the skin that evens te skin tone, boosts luminosity and restores the skin’s vitality. Lastly they also claim that it’s easy to apply.

Overall the claims do sound very promising. Clarins makes it sound like this isn’t just a regular primer, it really seems to be more than that. In all honesty I do think a primer with a price tag like this one should be more than just a regular primer. Anyway, I do think I agree with most of the claims Clarins makes, so let’s start discussing them one by one. Starting off with the colour correcting part.

Like I said pinky tones correct dullness in the skin. Or they’re supposed to do that. I’m personally quite a firm believer of colour correcting since I have noticed how much of a difference it can make in my skin and I feel like this makes that difference as well. I do really feel like this foundation brightens my skin tone. Whenever I’m looking really dull and just the opposite of radiant, this product will turn my skin back to life.

Clarins also claims that this primer blurs imperfections. I do have quite a few imperfections going on, not like a ton of pimples but more like scarring from old break outs and just redness on my jawline and such, and even though this isn’t the anti-redness version it still does something for that. It doesn’t completely take away the redness, but it does make my skin look a bit more calm if that makes any sense.

Moving on to my favourite thing about this primer which is the texture. I absolutely hate the feeling of those thick silicone primers, like those full on silicone products. What I do like are these lotion like primers, and this one is like that. It has just a pretty nice and fluid consistency and it blends in like a lotion. I’m pretty sure it does have some silicones in it because it does create that smooth effect, but not in a slippery way like high-on-silicone primers do. I understand that this little piece of text might be a bit confusing, but I can’t describe it in any other way.

Like Clarins says this primer is very easy and quick to blend into the skin. You only need one pump to cover your entire face because it is a very blendable product and it doesn’t take much effort to blend it in all over your face. Once it’s blended in it becomes smooth which makes the application of your foundation way easier as well.

Lastly Clarins claims that this product has some skincare benefits to it. They say it’s hydrating and soothing and I completely agree with that. When you feel the texture of this product you can feel that it’s going to be hydrating. Now, this hydrating part might scare away the oily skin girls out there, but trust me. I have oily skin myself and this definitely isn’t a product that is going to make your oily skin any worse. In fact it actually keeps the extreme oiliness under control pretty well.

I also noticed that this product indeed has some soothing benefits. I can tell that the irritation on my skin gets less once I apply this primer. After using the primer for a while I noticed that my skin has gotten less irritated in general. Of course that can be a result of many things, but I do feel like this primer was part of the reason why it happened.

Overall I’m pretty much head over heels with this primer. I expected it to be pretty good, but this is serious holy grail material you guys. I know Clarins isn’t the most popular or most interesting brand in the world, but I’m really impressed by this product and now I’m actually very excited to try out even more Clarins products. This is absolutely incredible. So if you’re on a hunt for an amazing primer, make sure you check the Clarins Instant Light primers out!

And that basically concludes today’s post! I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of the brand Clarins and also let me know which primer is your current favourite!
