Compared to about 7 years ago when lipgloss was still hot and happening, lipgloss isn’t such a popular product anymore. I have to admit that after years of wearing clear lipgloss with lots of glitter in it I was glad to finally leave those behind. However, when I came across these Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors I was quite intrigued. They looked so elegant and nice and seemed like the most gorgeous and comfortable lip products in the world. Therefore I decided to just go for it and buy one and today I’m reviewing it. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (or Eclat Minute Embellisseur Lèvres), make sure you continue reading!
First things first, packaging. Like all Clarins products this lipgloss came in a really pretty red box. I really love how elegant that red colour looks, it’s so pretty! The product itself comes in a little tube. The outside of the tube matches the colour of the product that is inside, which is very convenient but also very pretty. The product comes out through squeezing in the tube and with the sponge applicator you can distribute the product all over your lips. I know that this kind of applicator isn’t the most hygienic one, but at least you can wash them and you don’t put it back into a tube of product after using it so it seems more hygienic to me than those regular doe-foot applicator lipgloss packagings.
The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector overall is a very elegant looking product. I love the colour combination on the packaging and I just love how sleek the design is. The tube comes with 12 ml of product which is pretty decent. I don’t feel like it’s a product that will last very long if you use it on a daily basis, but overall 12 ml of product isn’t too little.
Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector – €20
There are quite a few shades available in this Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector range. The one I bought is called 08 Plum Shimmer. Even though I normally gravitate towards more wearable, nude colours, this one really caught my attention. Since it’s a lip perfector, in other words a lipgloss, it’s not going to be a very opaque product and in that case I do like to go for somewhat more exciting colours like this plum shade. I also felt like it’s a great shade for autumn and winter, so that also helped me decide on getting this particular shade.
On the lips this is still a pretty wearable shade, but it does add something to the final look. It’s the perfect finishing touch product. It adds a bit of colour to the look but it isn’t too extreme. It’s just that extra pop of colour that some looks just really need.
Anyway, let’s start talking about the claims. On the Douglas website I couldn’t find that much information on this product so this part is going to be pretty short. The only thing it said is that the Clarins Eclat Minute Embellisseur Lèvres is a lip gel with a soft texture and gorgeous sweet scent that makes the lips look soft, smooth, shiny and full. And that’s about it for the claims.
Even though the claims aren’t too outrageous I do think that they make is sound like a very promising product. And I have to say they aren’t lying. I’m a huge fan of this Lip Perfector or lipgloss or whatever you want to call it. It really is everything Clarins claims it will be and that’s exactly how I like to see it. I can really appreciate honest brands that don’t oversell their products.
But saying that the claims are true obviously isn’t enough for a proper review, so let’s talk about why I think the claims are true and why I like this product so much. First of all Clarins claims that this is a lip gel with a soft texture. I totally agree with that. The texture is similar to the texture of a lipgloss but it’s not as sticky and it really does feel very soft which makes this an extremely comfortable product to wear.
They also claim that this product is supposed to make the lips look soft, smooth, shiny and full. In other words it’s supposed to make your lips look perfect. And in my opinion it does. The product disperses very evenly over the lips which already creates a smooth look. The shiny part isn’t too surprising since this is a lipgloss after all and pretty much all lipglosses are shiny.
Something it also does do is plump the lips. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a lip plumping lip gloss, but it does make my lips look fuller than they usually do. It might be a combination of the glow and maybe the shade as well, I don’t know but I do really love the look of that.
Talking about the colour, I think this lip perfector has the perfect amount of pigmentation. I personally really like my sheer lip products so I’m glad this isn’t too bright, but it shouldn’t be too sheer either. And that’s exactly what this gloss is. It does have enough colour to it, it does really tint my lips in a gorgeous berry colour, but it’s not too overpowering and therefore still very wearable for on an everyday basis.
The staying power is also pretty impressive for a lipgloss like this. This gloss stays in place for about 4 hours, depending on how much you eat and drink of course. After that, or after eating and drinking, it starts to fade but your lips will stay a bit more red throughout the day because it does stain your lips a little.
Overall I think that this Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector is an essential in everyones beauty bag. It’s the perfect lip product for those who love a light touch of colour to their lips with a gorgeous glossy finish. The quality of the product is incredible and I just can’t get over how stunning it looks on the lips. I absolutely adore this product and I’ll definitely continue wearing it all throughout autumn and winter!
And that’s about it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector and if you’ve ever tried one of them yourself!
