Last week I bought (well, technically ordered) my first ever Chanel lipstick. I have been wanting to buy one for ages, and now I finally did it. I bought a lipstick from the Chanel Rouge Allure range and obviously I fell in love with it. After wearing it a couple of times I decided it was time for me to review this little wonder. If you’re interested in finding out more about this gorgeous lipstick, make sure you keep on reading!
The Chanel Rouge Allure lipsticks come in really chic and classy packagings. It’s very simple but also very, very elegant. The main part is made out of a shiny black material and the details, like for example the bottom, is gold and has the Chanel logo in it.
The special thing about this packaging is that it doesn’t open/close like any other lipstick. You can’t just lift up the lid. If you want to open this lipstick you have to press the bottom and then you’ll be able to open it up. It’s not a super new thing, but I do really like it. I think the packaging looks and feels very luxurious and I love it.
When it comes to colour selection I think Chanel has quite some work to do. Of course they did have a few shades to choose from, but I felt like there weren’t too many options. Lots of shades are pretty similar and there’s not a lot of choice if you want to go for a natural colour when it comes to this collection.
After looking up three million swatches and reviews on the internet I decided to go for a shade called Mélodieuse. Mélodieuse is not a colour I’d usually go for when I buy a luxury lipstick, because if I splurge on a lipstick. I’d rather go for a colour I’d wear on a daily basis, but this time I decided to go for a bit more exciting colour anyway.
Mélodieuse is, like I said, not a super natural everyday shade. Of course it’s a colour you can wear everyday, you can wear whatever you want everyday, but it’s not a neutral shade. Mélodieuse is a pretty bright coral/peachy shade. On pictures it might look very orange, even in real life when you look at it in the tube it might look very orange, but on the lips it’s definitely a bit more corally/peachy.
Coral is my favourite colour in the whole entire universe, and it’s a colour I think looks pretty good on me. Therefore Mélodieuse is a perfect fit for me. I think it’s a colour I can wear with a lot of looks and I think it’s perfect to add a pop of colour and brightness to your entire appearance/look.
When it comes to the quality, this Chanel lipstick is absolutely amazing. It has the most incredible texture in the world. I literally haven’t felt anything as smooth and creamy as this lipstick before in my life, and it’s extremely comfortable to wear.
This particular shade from the Chanel Rouge Allure range has a bit of a glossy finish. It’s not super glossy and shiny, and it’s not sheer at all, but it does have a bit of shine to it which I personally really like. And the best thing of all is that even though it is quite shiny, it’s still pretty long lasting!
Pigmentation wise this Chanel lipstick is incredible. It’s super rich and buttery and it’s super easy to apply. You can just sweep it on and go on with your day. It’s absolutely incredible. I have tried a ton of lipsticks in my life, and I have to say this is the best lipstick I have ever tried. Pigmentation wise as well as texture wise.
As I mentioned this lipstick is quite long lasting. It’s not as long lasting as those liquid lipstick things, but for a creamy lipstick it’s pretty impressive. The only thing you do have to keep in mind is that it doesn’t fade in a very pretty way. The thing is, is that when it fades, the lip line will stay coloured, so you’ll end up with a coral line around your lips and only a sheen of colour on the inside which, in my opinion, isn’t the prettiest look.
Despite the fading part this lipstick is absolutely incredible and by far the best lipstick I have ever tried. Yes it’s pretty expensive, actually it’s very expensive, but if you’re a lipstick lover this lipstick is definitely worth the try. Nothing I’ve tried before, from MAC to Essence, comes even close to it. It’s just incredible!
The Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Mélodieuse is available at stores such as ICI Paris, Douglas & Sephora for €35,-.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you have ever tried a Chanel lipstick and if so let me know what you think!
XOXO, Nicole.
Chanel is zo pretty he qua lipsticks!
