Not too long ago I talked to you guys about how I bought my first ever Chanel nail polish. It had always been something I dreamt of, but I never thought I would ever own one. And guess what, now I have two because recently I decided to buy another one. I liked my first one so much I decided I wanted to grow my Chanel nail collection. Instead of going for a gorgeous dusty pink I went for a festive red this time. Red is a classic colour, especially when it comes to nail polish, which is why I thought buying a red Chanel nail polish would be a great idea. Today I’m going to review it and let you guys know all about it and especially if I still think Chanel nail polishes are worth their hefty price tag. If you’re interested in reading about all of those things and more, make sure you continue reading!
The Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour comes in this classic Chanel box. Most of the box is glossy and black and at the bottom there is a golden lining. I think that this box itself looks very classy and luxurious. When you open up the box you’ll find the actual bottle of nail polish. This one is packaged beautifully as well. The design is very minimalistic and classic but I do really like the look of it. I also like that the square-shaped lid covers up the actual lid because, well, I think it looks a lot better like this.
By the way, I know that the Chanel nail polishes are very pricy, especially considering the drugstore has nail polishes that are good for about a 10th of the price, but I do think that this is worth it. First of all I never really use up a nail polish so it is an investment you can use for a long time. Aside from that I do think that there are severe differences in quality compared to cheaper nail polishes. But still, it’s insane to pay this amount of money for a nail polish so I totally get if you think this is outrageous.

Okay, let’s talk about the colour for a second. I have to say that I do think that red nail polish is an absolute classic in your collection. Every nail polish collection should at least have one red polish in it. And that’s pretty much the reason why I decided to go for this shade. I just wanted to have a nice and high-quality red in my collection. However, this isn’t your everyday red colour. I did think it was. I expected it to be a nice berry red shade. A bit more on the raspberry shade rather than something deeper, but you get the point. However, it turned out to be that plus something more.
Aside from being a berry red shade it also is a shimmery shade. Normally shimmer in nail polish is everything but my thing. I really hate the look of shimmer in nail polish because often times I think it makes the nail polish look a little cheap. However, in this instance I don’t hate it. I have to be honest and say that I do think that the nail polish would’ve been prettier if the shimmer wasn’t there, but at least it’s a nice golden sheen so it could have been worse. On the official Chanel website it was clear that there is some sort of shimmer in this polish, but where I bought it, it didn’t show that on the picture so that’s why I had no idea back when I bought it.
Moving on to the claims. According to Chanel their Le Vernis is a shiny, high-coverage nail polish that remains gentle on the nails. It comes with a thin brush for precise application. They also claim that the ergonomic cap is made for easy use and that the nail polish comes in a no-spill bottle, even when turned on its side!
That no-spill bottle thing sounds very interesting but I have to admit that I still haven’t tested that. That because I just really didn’t feel like risking throwing all of this nail polish over my desk. That seemed like a bit of a waste. Of course if the claim is true that wouldn’t happen, but I’m just not willing to risk it at the moment.
Anyway, Chanel claims that the brush on this nail polish is perfect for precise application. However, when I first saw the brush I wasn’t that impressed at all. It seemed like a very cheap nail polish brush and it also looked very unhandy. It’s quite long and very slim and it just seemed like it would create a big fat mess on my fingers. To my surprise I turned out to be wrong. The brush actually is really nice. It is very precise and it allows me to effortlessly and quickly polish my nails in a very precise way. I really like it a lot!
When it comes to the coverage of the polish I think Chanel did a great job. If you apply just one coat it will already be very opaque, probably opaque enough for most of you out there. However, I always like to go in for a second coat whether the polish is very opaque or not, because in my opinion that extra coat always helps to make the polish look even prettier. But that’s not the point I’m trying to make. What I’m trying to say is that the nail polish is very opaque and that only one coat is needed.
Another big, big, big plus when it comes to this nail polish is how fast it dries. I’m the biggest klutz in the whole wide world so I almost always mess up my nail polish right after applying it. But this stuff dries so quickly I don’t even get the chance to mess it up. That’s a really, really big plus for me. I love that about this nail polish!
The staying power of the nail polish is pretty impressive as well. It stays in place perfectly for about 5 to 7 days, depending on how rough you are with your nails. After that it will start to wear off a little but it won’t really chip at all. It really is a longlasting nail polish and therefore it’s the perfect polish for those who don’t have enough time to polish their nails frequently, but do want their nails to look nicely polished all throughout the week.
Overall I’m really happy I decided to get another Chanel nail polish. I love the shade, I think it’s a very iconic yet unique colour. Aside from that I’m also a huge fan of the quality. It’s just everything you can ever wish a nail polish would have in one product. Seriously, if you’re willing to splurge a little on a nail polish, go for this one! It’s incredible!
That’s it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this nail polish and whether or not you think it’s worth the money!
