As some of you probably already know, I love the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks. They are literally all I’m looking for in a lipstick in one bullet. I have already tried the shades Boy and Bonheur and I felt like it was about time to try out a new one. This resulted in me buying the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in 84 Dialogue. A gorgeous fruity, fresh red lipstick. I’ve been wearing it for the past couple of weeks and today it’s time to review it. So, if you’re interested in finding out everything you should know about this lipstick, make sure you continue reading this post!
Like all of the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks this one comes in a very classic packaging. The box is black and has golden details and white text on it. The front of the packaging does have quite a bit of information on it, but that’s mainly because they put it on there in both French and English. The packaging of the lipstick itself is far more minimalistic. The first time I bought one of the lipsticks from this range I actually thought that the packaging looked pretty boring. Having owned these lipsticks for a longer period of time and since I love them so much, I’ve grown to love the look of the packaging.
The packaging is black for the main part. It does have this golden part around the middle, where the lid comes off. The part in which the actual lipstick is located is golden as well. The lid has the Chanel logo printed on top of it in white. Aside from that there isn’t much to the packaging.
The lipstick comes with 3 grams of product. This doesn’t last me an awful amount of time. It’s hard to compare how long it lasts compared to other lipsticks because I use these Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks far more often than I do other lipsticks. For example my Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Boy is almost gone. I’ve had it for about a year now and I’ve been using it every day for the last couple of months.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in 84 Dialogue – €37
The shade Dialogue is a very pretty fruity red colour. It’s very fresh and bright. I think that it’s a red that is going to make you look more healthy and fresh. It can brighten up any look and every complexion. I also think that it’s a red that is appropriate for every occasion. Whether you’re going to work, your internship or to a meeting, this lipstick is okay. Obviously it is a red so you have to decide if wearing a red feels comfortable to you in all of those occasions, but if you do, I think this is a very versatile shade. The only downside to the shade is that it won’t necessarily make your teeth look whiter. So if you are very self-conscious about that, this might be something to keep in mind.
According to Chanel their Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks are lightweight, innovative lipsticks with intensified pigments that take colour and sheen to a new level of vibrancy. They say that it has a moisturising formula so it’s supposed to soften and hydrate the lips for a fuller appearance. They also say that a small amount of product is enough.
I think that they way they describe it they do make it sound like something that this isn’t. This isn’t a pigmented, full-colour lipstick and you shouldn’t have that in your mind while going in with this lipstick. If you do so, you’ll end up being really disappointed. However, I’m a big fan of more sheer lipsticks and that is exactly what this is. Keeping that in mind while trying this lipstick you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Because this is a very vibrant, sheer lipstick.
Compared to the other Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks that I own I do think this is one of the most pigmented ones out of the bunch. However, on this picture it might look super intense and all, but that’s also a bit because this is a close-up picture. Looking from a distance you can tell this really isn’t going to cover up your entire lips, but it does leave behind a gorgeous wash of colour.
My favourite way of applying it is actually applying a tiny bit of colour to the lower lip and then smushing my lips together. This way you end up with a very natural looking wash of red on your lips. This is going to give you a very healthy and fresh appearance while not being too extreme. This is a great way to wear a red lip colour if you’re not completely confident about it.
The staying power of this lipstick is better than I expected. I feel like the natural shades from this range aren’t super, super long lasting, but this one is. It actually stains your lips a little bit leaving a red wash after most of the lipstick has faded. It fades in a very natural way thanks to which you don’t have to compulsively check your lips and re-apply it. It looks great throughout all fases of it fading.
All in all I’m head over heels with the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in the shade 84 Dialogue. This really is the perfect red lipstick for me. I think it’s very versatile because you can wear it in a very sheer and natural way, but you can also wear it in a bit more opaque way. It still is and will always be a rather sheer and shiny lipstick, but that’s exactly what I love about it. It’s super comfortable to wear and the colour looks stunning. I’m a huge, huge fan of it and if you’re on the hunt for a comfortable and effortless red lipstick, you might want to consider getting this one!
With that being said I think I covered everything. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post, thank you for doing so, and please be sure to let me know what you think of this red lipstick!
