Back in Lille I finally bought the famous Caudalie Eau De Beauté or Beauty Elixer as we call it in English. This is one of Caudalie’s most popular product, if not their most popular, and I wanted to give it a try myself. After trying it thoroughly for almost 1.5 months it’s finally time for me to review this badboy. If you’re interested in finding out if it’s as good as people claim it to be or not and whether it’s worth the price or not, make sure you continue reading!
Starting off with packaging. The Caudalie Beauty Elixer comes in a very elegant glass bottle with the Caudalie logo and design on it. I think the design is very simple and elegant and overall I think the bottle just looks very pretty. The only slight downside in my opinion is the actual spray thingy. The thingy you have to press if you want to spray some product onto your face. That part is just made out of clear plastic. Compared to the rest of the bottle I think that looks a little cheap. Aside from that I think the bottle is gorgeous.
There are two sized available of this product, the 30 ml version and the one I got which contains 100 ml. Price-wise I think it’s more affordable to get the bigger one since you pay less per ml, but that’s obviously up to you. Because it’s such a popular product and I did have high hopes for it I decided to just take a leap of fait and buy the big one, but that’s just who I am as a person.
Caudalie Eau de Beauté – €38,95
Moving on to the actual product. When I just bought this and my mother asked me what it was meant for I actually had no idea. I know it seems strange to buy quite a big bottle of unknown liquid, but again, that’s just me. After doing some research I found out that the Caudalie Beauty Elixer is actually quite a multipurpose product. Overall it’s a mist you can spritz all over your face for refreshment, but it’s also great for setting your makeup, making it look a bit more natural and for skincare purposes. The Beauty Elixer is filled with vitamins that are great for the skin which help make your skin more radiant at any time of the day.
I personally prefer using this spray as a makeup spray instead of using it as a skincare product which, I believe, was its original purpose because it just does a great job at that. But both purposes are just great and you can definitely use it for all of them if you want.
When I use this as a makeup spray I spray it all over my face either after I have applied my foundation and powder or after I’ve applied all of my makeup. I do this to reduce the powdery and cakey look of my makeup and to make my skin look a bit more radiant. And this product fulfils those purposes like no other.
What I like about this mist is that it’s different from your usual setting sprays like the Urban Decay Deslick or the MAC Fix+. That because this one focusses more on the refreshing and radiance boosting end of the spectrum and those other two more on the lifetime of your makeup and those kinds of things. Because of that the Beauty Elixer is a lot more refreshing and soft and it feels really comfortable on the skin. It doesn’t feel like you’re locking in your face with hairspray, it feels gentle and kind and I like that.
Another thing I really like about this spray is that the mist is very fine. Your face will never feel drowned when you’re working with this product. Instead it almost feels like fog and I mean that in a good way. It feels very gentle and that also helps with the luxury feeling of the product.
Lastly I quickly want to discuss the scent of this product. Usually I do that along the beginning of the discussion but honestly I kind of forgot about it. Whether you like the scent or not is obviously up to your taste, but I’m personally not a huge fan of it. The scent is very refreshing and I do like that aspect of it, but aside from that it’s not my favourite. Luckily the scent isn’t too out there so if you don’t like it like me it won’t be too bothering.
Overall it’s just a very luxurious feeling face mist. Whether you use it as a face mist for skincare purposes or as a makeup fixing mist, it’s just an amazing product. The mist is very gentle and kind for the skin, it feels very refreshing and it does a great job at making your skin look more radiant and your makeup more natural. In my opinion it’s a great product and I’m glad I have it. But I don’t think it’s necessary to have it in your collection. It’s a luxury that I really enjoy, but not a necessity.
And that pretty much concludes today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know if you have ever tried this Beauty Elixer or something similar and if so, let me know what you think of this type of product!
XOXO, Nicole.
