Catrice Re-Touch Light Reflecting Concealer

23/11/2015

Catrice Light Reflecting Concealer

I think we all know the famous YSL Touche Eclat concealer. One of the world’s most famous ‘concealers’ and one of the most expensive concealers. A while ago I noticed that Catrice had a concealer in their collection which was pretty similar to it, at least the looks of it are pretty similar. Even though I usually prefer concealers with a lot more coverage, I got really excited to try it and I ended up buying it. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in reading more about it, keep on reading!

Catrice Retouch Concealer

The concealer comes in a long and thin silver packaging. It’s shiny and, in my opinion, really pretty. To get the product out of the tube you have to twist the bottom part and the product will appear inside the little brush thing on top. Using the brush thingy you can apply it to the areas you want to and then, using your fingers or a brush, you can blend it.

The concealer comes in three shades, which are all pretty light, but not super light. If you’re really pale like I am you’re not going to find a light enough colour to really lighten up and highlight the under eye area, but there is one shade available that will at least match your actual skin tone. I think it’s such a shame that Catrice doesn’t create super light or super dark shades, because super pale girls, as well as darker girls, can’t use this concealer because of that and I really think that’s a shame.

Catrice Retouch Concealer Brush

According to Catrice this Re-Touch Light Reflecting Concealer is very creamy and lightweight and with its medium coverage perfect and light reflecting pigments perfect for brightening the under eye area and covering up dark circles as well as small imperfections.

Those claims sound pretty promising. But is it actually true? Let’s start off with the texture part. According to Catrice the concealer is lightweight, creamy and soft, and therefore perfect for the delicate under eye area. Honestly, I do actually agree with that. The first time I used it I wasn’t really sure what to expect and actually the first thing I noticed was that it had such a nice texture. It felt really soft and comfortable. It’s pretty different compared to the concealers I’m used to using because this one is not as heavy and not as thick and I really like that about it.

Catrice Retouch Concealer Swatch

When it comes to coverage I would say it’s light to medium, but definitely leaning towards the medium side. Because it’s a light reflecting concealer and I expected it to be a bit like the YSL Touche Eclat, I expected it to be very sheer, so when I saw how well it covered up my dark circles, I was actually impressed. It’s definitely not enough to cover up my extremely dark, dark circles, but it does help a lot.

The light reflecting part however, I don’t know about that. It might be because the concealer is not lighter than my skin tone, but this concealer doesn’t really do anything I would call light reflecting. Aside from covering up my dark circles, it does nothing to lighten up the under eye area and make me look more awake.

Catrice Retouch Light Reflecting Concealer

But honestly, even though this concealer isn’t actually light reflecting, I really enjoy using it and I’m pretty sure I will actually continue using it. I really like the way the packaging works and I like what this concealer does for me.  If you’re looking for something to really cover up your super dark, dark circles, you might want to look for something else, but if your dark circles aren’t too bad, this is definitely a great product. I like it!

The Catrice Re-Touch Light-Reflecting Concealer is available at the drugstore for €3,99.

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know which concealer you like using to cover up your dark circles.
