The past couple of weeks I’ve been experimenting with washing my hair less. Those who have been following me for a while might know that I actually used to wash my hair daily. I just couldn’t stand the feeling of not-washed hair and that was enough for me to just wash it daily. However, recently I was inspired to change that habit. One thing that I did need in order to survive it was a dry shampoo. I was actually going to get one from Batiste, but when I went to my local drugstore they didn’t have that. However, they did have these Nivea Fresh Revive Dry Shampoos. I hand’t heard of them just yet, but since I do like Nivea I thought it was worth the shot. I’ve been trying it for a while now and therefore I’m going to be reviewing it today. If you’re interested in finding out more about this dry shampoo, make sure you continue reading this post!
The Nivea Fresh Revive 3 in 1 Dry Shampoo comes in a slim, long bottle. It has a lot going on and isn’t what I’d call minimalistic looking. I do think that it looks pretty fun. It has blue text and it says ‘have a great hair day’ on it. I think that looks really cute and I like it. It’s very playful and fun. I wouldn’t necessarily say that this is the prettiest packaging on earth, but I do think it’s fun. I don’t hate the way it looks. It’s not a professional vibe, but a nice drugstore alternative. Nothing wrong with that.
The bottle comes with 200 ml dry shampoo which is pretty normal. The dry shampoos from Batiste also come with 200 ml and some other popular ones as well. Even though it’s a standard amount I do feel like I’m running low on this already. I don’t know why because I do always use everything very sparingly, but it already feels like it’s about to be empty. Obviously I can’t look into the bottle in order to check, so time will tell if it’s actually the case. But well, if that’s the only bad thing about it I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Nivea is on sale almost always so price-wise I don’t think it’s that big of a problem either.
Nivea Fresh Revive 3-in-1 Dry Shampoo For Dark Hair 200 ml – €5,79
There are two different versions of the Nivea Fresh Revive Dry Shampoo available. The one with the blue text, which is aimed at dark here. They also have one with yellow text, that is aimed at light hair. I saw that in Germany they actually have a third version as well for hair that is in between light and dark. I do like that they have created a different one for dark hair because I remember when I used dry shampoo when I was younger I always had grey spots all over my hair because of it.
According to Nivea this is a 3-in-1 product, meaning that it does more than just cleanse your hair without water. It says that it will add volume, refresh and that it doesn’t leave behind residue. The last one isn’t necessarily an action in my opinion, but it is an important one to me.
All in all I was a bit hesitant about this dry shampoo at first. The reason being that in the past I didn’t have great experiences with dry shampoo’s that weren’t from Batiste. The Batiste ones are quite pricy for a drugstore dry shampoo so I used to try more affordable alternatives back in the day. But instead of making my hair appear more clean, they made it wet and super greasy. Because I do have some faith in Nivea as a brand I decided to take a leap of faith, but I was still a bit hesitant that it was going to be as bad as the other alternatives I have tried. If you want to see what I mean with a bad dry shampoo, check this post out from my old blog. If you dare.
Another thing that always bugs me about dry shampoo is the scent. I really hate the fact that they’re all super fragrant and that the scent is super overpowering. This did used to hold me back from actually using dry shampoo. I have to say that this Nivea one also has a very strong scent, but it isn’t so bad that it bugs me too much in order for me to use it. It’s not my favourite thing in the world, but it’s okay. It is a really nice and fresh scent. I just wish it wasn’t as strong.
In terms of effectiveness I have to say that I think this dry shampoo does do an amazing job. I had a lot of difficulties taking before and after pictures, which is why I didn’t end up including them. This is just a dry shampoo though. Before my hair would’ve looked greasy and after using it it would’ve looked clean. That’s what this does. I don’t think that it creates massive amounts of volume, but it does really make a big difference in how greasy my hair looks as feels and that’s what matters.
Another thing I like about this dry shampoo is how easy it is to use. They said that it won’t leave behind residue and it actually doesn’t. It is a brown coloured product so that makes it less visible too, but I don’t feel like it transfers colour onto my hair. This makes it a lot quicker to use. There’s no need to check whether everything is blended in good enough. You just spray it on to your hair and either massage it in or brush it with a hair brush and you’re good to go. I’m really surprised by how easy it is to work with this product. I do think that you shouldn’t use it as sparingly as I did at first. It works best if you apply a bit on multiple layers of hair, especially if you’re going to wear your hair up.
All in all Nivea did surprise me with their Fresh Revive 3-in-1 Dry Shampoo. It makes my life so much easier. Especially now that I’m not washing my hair anymore. Thanks to this product I can actually manage to do it and stand the way my hair feels on days where I didn’t wash my hair. It does have a bit of a strong scent to it, but aside from that I think that everything about it is amazing. It’s super effective, really easy to use and it doesn’t leave any marks or residue on my hair. I recommend it!
That’s pretty much it for today. Thank you so much for reading today’s post and be sure to let me know if you use dry shampoo and if so, let me know which one is your favourite!
[…] again, like the last day, it’s pretty dang greasy and it needs some work. First I used the Nivea Fresh Revive Dry Shampoo and I liked it. However, when that ran out I decided to use the famous Batiste Dry Shampoo for Dark […]
