A while ago I did a lot of these brand focus posts. In these posts I showed my collection from a specific brand and told my opinion about what I thought was good about it and what isn’t. After a while I felt like I covered all of the brands I could think of so I stopped. In my mind it has been long enough since I last done one, so I decided it might be fun to do a brand new brand focus post today. The brand we are going to focus on is my very favourite brand: DIOR! So, if you want to know what Dior products I have in my collection and what I think about them, make sure you continue reading this post!
The collection
Let’s start off with the first part of this post, which is showing my collection. As I mentioned Dior is one of my top favourite brands. However, it is a rather expensive brand, so I don’t have a crazy wild collection of cosmetics from them. I do have a nice group of products that I’m very happy with though, so that’s what you’re going to see now.
Since this is no real collection post I’m not showing everything in detail, but I will give you an overview of what I have.
- 4 Foundations
- 2 Concealers
- 1 Highlighter
- 2 Blushes
- 7 Lip products
- 1 Brush
- 1 Mascara
- 4 Eyeshadow palettes
The things I love
Moving on to talking about what products I love from Dior. Starting off with their eyeshadow palettes. Let me tell you there is nothing more amazing that the Dior eyeshadow palettes. Somehow I used to think back in the day that Dior eyeshadow palettes were overrated, but that’s not true at all. In fact, Dior makes some terrific palettes. They are very high priced, but the quality is just basically perfect.
The thing I love about them is that they have these amazing textures. I mean, I think pigmentation is important and these eyeshadows are definitely very pigmented. But what I love even more is how smooth these shadows are and how silky. They just glide onto the lid in such a pretty way and they sit on there so prettily.
I also love how well these eyeshadows work together. Dior knows really well what’s pretty with what and therefore the colour scheme in their palettes is just on point. The shadows also blend really easily and therefore it all looks very put together while it’s very effortless and foolproof to achieve.
Moving on a new category: the lip category. I believe my first ever Dior product was actually a lipstick. The Dior Addict Lipstick in a brownish pink kind of colour. It made me fall in love with the brand and therefore I really do feel the need to mention it in this post. As you can tell from the picture I do have multiple types of Dior lip products, but the Dior Addict lipsticks are by far my favourite. I recently bought a new one in the shade Not Shy and I can’t wait to give that one a whirl.
Another type of lipstick from the Dior range that I love very dearly is the Dior Addict Lacquer Stick Lipstick. It’s an incredible product. I personally hate the feeling of lip lacquers and I don’t like the matte finish they almost always have. This lipstick however has the benefits of a lip lacquer, but it feels and looks like a normal lipstick. It’s super pigmented and goes on like a dream, like an actual lip lacquer and it stays in place for literally 8 hours or more. Even when you drink and eat a lot, even when you kiss and talk. It stays in place!
The last lip product I want to mention is the Dior Lip Glow. My best friend mentioned she wanted one a while ago and I was like well, I love Dior, but why would you spend so much money on a lip balm. Obviously I did it myself too, but still. It’s extremely expensive for a lip balm. Well, after buying it I quickly found out why one would do that. It’s the most incredible lip balm in the world. I personally hate the feeling of a thick lip balm on your lips. Those very waxy ones you know. Well, this one isn’t like that at all. It’s super lightweight and it doesn’t feel waxy at all. But what it does do is restore your lips. It takes away all of the dry patches in just a split second.
Another Dior product I really, really love is their Nude Air Luminizer in the shade 001. I bought this a while ago not expecting anything and this product really surprised me. It’s just everything you should and could expect from a Dior highlighter and it’s so perfect for everyday wear. It looks very natural yet the shine is definitely visible. It’s just the perfect balance of glow and naturalness all in one compact. The shade of the highlighter is just stunning as well. I think it’s a very universally flattering tone that will look good on pretty much all skin tones. That’s a huge, huge plus as well! Big fan of this product! Big fan!
I’m also really in love with their more dewy foundations. I’m going to talk about the other ones in a second, but let’s keep it positive for just another second. With the more dewy foundations I mean the Diorskin Nude Foundation and the Diorskin Star Foundation. Both of these foundations have an incredible texture. They are very smooth and they make your skin look so even. Somehow the texture is so perfect that it makes your skin look more expensive while it’s just a foundation in the end. I don’t know how it does it, but it does and I love it.
My last love are the Dior concealers. Back in the day they used to stock the Diorskin Star Concealer, but that one got discontinued. I was a big fan of it because it had the same incredible texture the dewy foundations have and that works really well for me. Nowadays they have the Diorskin Forever Concealer which I only recently started using. However, I am already a huge fan of it. The texture is a little different but still phenomenal and it has amazing coverage!
Things I don’t love
Moving on to two products I don’t really like. I really have tried to love both of them, mainly because I do adore Dior and these were hella expensive, but they just don’t do it for me. The first product I want to talk about is the Dior Forever Foundation. This is a wildly popular foundation, or at least it has been for a while, and I don’t get why. I have to admit that I didn’t know so many people loved it back when I bought it. I didn’t read anything about it before buying it. I just bought it to complete my collection. However, this product oxidates and turns super, super orange on me. So orange it’s almost impossible to wear. I have tried it in combination with a lightening product and that does make it a bit better, but I still don’t love it. The texture is pretty okay, but I just hate how it oxidates on me and I do think that that’s a reason not to buy it when you’re a relatively pale girl.
The other foundation I dislike is the Dior Forever Undercover Foundation. I knew that I didn’t like the Forever one, so at first I didn’t want to buy it. However, when I saw that they had a very wide shade range I kinda thought it would have a shade that wouldn’t turn orange on me the way the Dior Forever Foundation does. Well I was wrong. I was very wrong. This product is marketed as very pale but in real life it’s orange o’ clock orange. I was so disappointed by it. I’ve literally only wore it a handful of times for the review but that’s it. What a waste! In the review I was rather positive about it, but after owning it for more than just a couple of weeks I’ve come to realise that this wasn’t as amazing as I thought it was. At least not for me.
Things I’m not crazy about
Moving on to two products in the medium range. First off all I want to talk about the Diorshow Iconic Mascara. Let’s start off by saying that I really don’t think this is a bad product. Not at all actually. In fact, I do really like the way this mascara looks on my lashes. However, after I used it up I totally forgot about it. I didn’t have that feeling of “I really need to repurchase this in order to stay alive” kinda thing. And that’s why I think it’s medium. It’s okay, but it’s not mind-blowing. It’s not something that left a mark on me. So if you are wanting to buy something from Dior, you could for sure buy this or any other mascara, but some of their other products are way more impressive.
The same thing goes for this Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick. I did mention that I love most of their lip products, but this one isn’t as mind blowing and innovative as the other products I mentioned. It’s a very standard lipstick. There’s definitely nothing wrong with it. I like the texture, the colour and the way it looks and feels and everything. But I think it’s a lot more standard than for example the Addict lipsticks or the Lacquer Sticks. I’d much rather spend my money on those instead of this one.
With that being said I think we covered everything I wanted to cover in this post. As you might be able to tell I have a lot of love for Dior. Even the products that don’t work for me are not bad, they are just not my shade or just not special enough. However, most of the Dior products I own are very much loved and overall incredible quality. So in conclusion I would definitely recommend checking out the brand, just make sure you look for something unique!
That will be it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and be sure to let me know what you think of the beauty products from Dior!
Interesting I hadn’t heard that the Forever foundation oxidises and I really wanted to try it, I heard about it from Jaclyn Hill who is relatively fair skinned herself so will definitely get a sample before I settle on a shade if I do try it, I am more interested in the new Backstage Foundation that sounds perfect for my combo/oily skin. I love DIor packaging but I am not tempted by much from them except their gorgeous highlighters. Thank you for sharing, great post x

I know right! I heard no one talking about that either so I just bought my regular Dior shade and it was just not ok! I’m really curious about the new backstage foundation as well. I love how wide the shade range is in that foundation!
Ooh I love Dior! Their make-up is everything. Too bad the foundation turns orange on you
I haven’t tried anything from Dior but I’d love to give their lipsticks and lacquers a go! Lovely collection you have!

OMG!!
I must say this is something that I have been wanting to read for a long time and got it from your NICOLISHED Web. I was searching over search engines and found your blog topics onBrand Focus Time Lets Talk Dior. Will be sharing this with my tribe too.
