Back in the summer I had a sudden obsession with liquid or cream blushes. I decided to order two of the Bourjois 12HR Aqua Blushes. One of which I have already reviewed, called Cocoricorail, and one in the shade Ingé-nude, which is the one I’ll be reviewing today. I actually made a mistake while ordering this because I meant to get the berry shade, but I accidentally got this nude colour instead. When I found out I wasn’t too thrilled, but my opinion about it might have changed after testing it. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not I’ve changed my mind about it after testing it and if you want to know what the quality is like, make sure you continue reading!
The Bourjois 12HR Aqua Blushes come in these adorable little packagings. It’s a little bottle with a pump on top and the bottle is the same colour as the blush that’s inside. Or about the same colour. I think that the packaging looks really adorable because it’s this small and because of the colour. I also really appreciate the pump because it’s hygienic and it’s just easy to use. It’s easier to manage the amount of product you’ll take out of the bottle this way. The bottle contains 10 ml of product which doesn’t seem like an awful lot, however I do think it will last you for quite some time.
The Bourjois 12HR Aqua Blushes come in four different shades. There is this nude colour, Ingé-Nude, which is the one I’m reviewing today. There’s also a pink colour called Pink Twice, a berry shade called Berry Nice and a coral shade called Cocoricorail, which is the one I reviewed a while ago. Overal I do think the shade range is pretty okay because they covered all main blush colours so that’s just nice.
Bourjois 12HR Aqua Blush in Ingé-Nude – €12,25
On the bottle itself Bourjois doesn’t give us a lot of information. All they say is that this blush gives a natural, healthy glow to the skin. That it’s easy to blend and that it has a bare skin feel. They also let us know that one light pump is enough for one application. Overall it’s supposed to provide a sheer, fresh colour to the face.
Because that’s all it said on the bottle I decided to go online and read a little more about it. According to the Ici Paris XL website the Bourjois 12HR Aqua Blush is a real must for summer. It’s supposed to be the first blush with a refreshing effect. The super smooth gel formula is supposed to refresh as a sorbet and make the skin look radiant. The colour is supposed to melt into the skin without unevenness and make your skin feel soft. They also recommend to use your fingertips to blend it into the skin because that will make the colour pop more.
Overall it sounds like this is a really nice and soft, natural looking blush. One that feels very lightweight and refreshing on the skin and that is very easy to use because of the easy-to-blend formula. Overall I do agree with these claims. It really is the perfect lightweight blush for summer (and the rest of the year).
So let’s dive into the details. According to Bourjois this is a very lightweight and refreshing blush. I agree with that and I think the texture has a lot to do with why it feels so lightweight and fresh. The texture is really unique. It’s not liquid or creamy, it’s more like a gel. And like most gel products this is just very light and airy. It’s also refreshing because it has a bit of a cold sensation to it when it comes into contact with the skin. That combination is just absolutely incredible and feels really nice on the skin. That’s also part of the reason why I think it’s such an amazing product for summer when it’s actually way to hot to be wearing heavy makeup.
Another thing I really like about this blush is that it’s indeed very easy to blend. This is, again, caused by the gel formula, and it’s amazing. It’s so quick to use. I have to admit that I do prefer using either a Beautyblender or a brush to blend it in rather than my fingertips, but either way it’s just so easy to blend into the skin. It’s not blotchy or patchy at all and it doesn’t stain the skin if you’re not quick enough.
Moving on to pigmentation. Bourjois claims that this is a sheer, fresh blush so in other words it’s not supposed to be very pigmented. I do like that because heavy blush really isn’t my thing. Anyway, as you might be able to tell I went a bit too crazy with the amount of product I put on my hand so that’s why it does look a little uneven, I just didn’t have enough space to blend it onto. Anyway, as you can tell he colour is quite pretty. It’s actually a bit more peachy than I initially expected and I really like that about it. It’s also pigmented enough but not overly pigmented. Of course I applied way too much on the picture so it will look a little less intense if you actually use the right amount of product, but overall I do like the intensity of it. It’s just very natural but still visible. It does add something to the overall look without being too obvious is what I’m trying to say.
Since this blush is called the 12HR Aqua Blush I did expect it to stay in place for a very long time. Cream and liquid blushes in general stay in place very well because it really sticks to the skin where a powder doesn’t, so that’s already a pro, but this blush you guys. It ain’t going nowhere. I’m very impressed by that. It feels like it becomes part of the skin and it looks like that as well, all day long. It’s a very fool proof product and definitely perfect for days where you do want to wear makeup but it’s so hot you’ll sweat it all off or for days where you just have a lot to do and you don’t want to worry about your makeup.
Overall I just really like this Bourjois 12HR Aqua Blush in Ingé-Nude. Even though it wasn’t the colour I was initially going for I do really like the way it looks on the face and the quality of it is just impressive. It’s such a gorgeous product and it’s very fool proof. It’s also very lightweight and very natural looking so it’s basically perfect for everyone and every occasion!
That’s pretty much it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this blush and whether or not you’re a fan of liquid/cream blushes!
