Bornprettystore Makeup Sponge

09/01/2016

BPS Makeup Sponge

Makeup sponges have been quite popular in beauty world for a long time now. Lots of people use and love them and I hear great things about them all the time. All though I’m a huge fan of makeup brushes, I still really wanted to see what the fuzz was all about and give a makeup sponge a try. Today I’m going to review a makeup sponge I got from Bornprettystore. If you’re interested, keep on reading!

BPS Makeup Blending Sponge

This Bornprettystore makeup sponge has a very nice shape. It’s not just an egg shaped sponge like the real Beautyblender. Instead it has a pointy side and a flat side. I really like that about it. The sponge itself is yellow coloured and is quite dense. It’s not as soft and spongy as the real Beautyblender is, but it’s still a nice sponge to work with.

You can use makeup sponges for lots of different purposes. I’ve seen lots of people use it to apply their foundation with. If you do that it’s recommended to dampen the sponge. That way it won’t suck in as much of your product as it would when it’s dry. But you can also use it to, for example, apply finishing powder.

BPS Sponge Flat Side

BPS Sponge Edged Side

Personally I really like using this sponge for baking my under eye area. I just dab the flat side of the sponge into the loose powder and then press it into the skin underneath my eyes. It applies the powder really nicely and because of the shape it’s really easy to get as close to the lash line as humanly possible.

In general I think the flat side of the sponge is perfect to apply product in areas such as the under eye area, around the nose, etc. It’s a bit more precise than the other side of the sponge and therefore it’s easier to work with in those areas.

BPS Sponge Rounded Side

The pointy side I hardly ever use. It’s not like you can’t work with it, but because I mostly use this sponge for powder underneath my eyes, I don’t really get to use it a lot. However, if I would use this sponge for something else than powder and I would use the pointy side as well, I would definitely use it to apply my foundation all over my face. It’s really great for that.

Aside from that it’s also great for applying concealer underneath your eyes. Because it’s not as flat as the other side you can really bounce it into the skin so it really blends in and doesn’t look all kinds of cakey.

BPS Sponge

Overall I think this is a great sponge. It’s easy to work with and it gets the job done. But to be honest, I just prefer using brushes, especially when it comes to applying foundation. It just works better for me. However, for baking I do really like this brush and therefore I do recommend getting it!

You can buy the Bornprettystore Makeup Sponge here for $2,34  (Use the code NMEH10 to get 10% off the entire site).

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you prefer using sponges or brushes!

Nice! Really great, detailed review. I like beauty blenders but I think I don’t take enough care of them, because mine started getting weird and moldy. I guess that’s what happens when you dampen them over and over! lol xox Trace

Makkelijk om mee te werken vind ik erg belangrijk voor een sponge. Ik werk af en toe er mee, omdat ik te lui ben om hem schoon te maken. Fijn dat je het bevalt.
