A few weeks ago (I guess about 2 to 3 weeks ago) I ordered a little something for myself. Well actually it’s not that little, I bought two Bobbi Brown products. One of those products is this Shimmer Brick Compact in the shade Bronze. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about this product, make sure you continue reading!
The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact comes in classic Bobbi Brown packaging. It’s plain black with the Bobbi Brown logo in the middle. The packaging feels quite hefty and it’s bigger than I initially expected it to be. Of course that doesn’t mean you get that much product, but I have to say I’m not disappointed by the amount of product that comes in this black box.
There are a few different shades of Shimmer Bricks available. I bought a very classic shade called Bronze. This one seemed very multifunctional and perfect for everyday wear.
So like I just said I bought this shimmer brick in the shade Bronze. This means that the shimmer brick is build up with a few different tones of brown. Most stripes are pretty warm toned brown shades but the white stripe at the top has a more cool undertone. Overall I think it’s really pretty.
One of the many reasons why I decided to go for this shade is because it’s very  multifunctional. Except for just using it on the cheeks like it’s meant to, you can also use these shades as eyeshadow. Because they are so shimmery and glowy they are perfect for creating a super simple but pretty look and I really like that!
Before we jump into anything else than swatches, let’s discuss the swatches. Since my mom wasn’t home at the time of taking pictures she couldn’t be my arm-model and I had to do it myself, which is why the swatches aren’t as sharp as usual, but let’s just ignore that.
The swatches look good, they look very good. I can’t say anything else than that. Each part of this product is very pigmented and each part is intense and very smooth when it comes to application. The thing I like most about it is that it isn’t overly intense. It can be quite pigmented and intense if you want it to, but it can also be quite natural and subtle. It all depends on the type of brush you use and whether or not you apply it with a light hand.
Because the product does contain very chunky glitters you can’t really compare the feeling of the texture to satin. That doesn’t mean that the texture feels bad or that the quality of the product isn’t okay, it just means that it contains lots of glitter. Aside from the glitter I do think the product applies very smoothly and evenly. It’s not blotchy at all and it’s not overly intense. It also doesn’t cause too much fall-out when you use it on the eyes so that’s a plus as well.
When it comes to lasting power I’m not disappointed. It looks pretty much the same at any point of the day. It doesn’t lose its intensity, it doesn’t fade and it doesn’t look weird or patchy at the end of the day.
Overall I think this is one of my top favourite cheek products at the moment (and also one of my fave eye products). It’s definitely on the more expensive side, but because it’s so multifunctional I think it’s totally worth it. The quality is amazing and it just looks absolutely gorgeous on the face! I love it!
The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact is available at Douglas and Bijenkorf for €49,-.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know if you have any experience with Bobbi Brown makeup and if so, be sure to let me know how you like it!
