The Most Luxurious Multi-Tasker Brush: The Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush

27/10/2018

For the longest time I’ve been dreaming of getting a Bobbi Brown makeup brush. A few years ago I went to the Bobbi Brown counter to get a new foundation. The lady who did my makeup (obviously) used some Bobbi Brown brushes on me and it mesmerised me. I have never felt something so soft and glorious on my face and I needed one for myself. Sadly they come with a very hefty price tag. One even I found hard to deal with. However, recently I decided that I wanted to upgrade my brush collection and that resulted in me buying my very first Bobbi Brown brush, the Face Blender brush. I have been using it everyday since I got it and today it’s time for the review. So, if you’re interested in finding out whether or not it’s as amazing as my memory of it and whether I think it’s worth the price or not, make sure you continue reading this post!

Let’s first take a good look at the brush. Something that did surprise me about it is that it just came in a plastic little bag, nothing fancy whatsoever. I know that those cardboard boxes are just a waste of material, but I somehow did expect such a luxury brush to come in one. But well, you take it off and throw it away anyway, so it doesn’t really matter all that much.

The brush itself is very luxurious and pretty looking. It’s not as hefty as I thought it would be, it’s actually quite lightweight. The handle is made from, what seems to be, bamboo and it has a layer around it that protects it from any damage. The handle is very simple and minimalistic. On one side it says Bobbi Brown and on the other side it tells you what brush this is. In this case it’s the Face Blender. The hairs on this brush are white. According to what I’ve heard and seen this is one of the only Bobbi Brown face brushes with white hair, so it’s pretty unique. I personally do love a white-haired brush so I’m really happy about that.

All in all I really like the look of the brush. It looks very professional and clean and even though it is rather lightweight, it does have a luxury, well-made feel to it. I love it!

Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush – €44

The Face Blender brush from Bobbi Brown is made with white goat hair. And I know what some of you are thinking right now: goat hair?!?! Yes, goat hair. According to one of the sales ladies from Bobbi Brown these hairs are real animal hairs, yet they are retrieved in a cruelty-free, non-harmful way. She said that the hairs are just brushed off the goat, and thus it doesn’t harm the animal in any way. I do like to believe that she’s telling the truth there, but well, you have to decide for yourself what you think of brushes made from animal hair. If you have strong opinions on that, I get that this could be a dealbreaker for you. That is totally understandable!

Anyway, real animal hair is known to be great for applying powder products because it picks up a lot of product. In my experience that is true. Most of the times I have used this brush I have used it to apply my setting powder and it did work much quicker compared to when I was using synthetic brushes. It also feels very, very soft and extremely comfortable on the skin. These hairs are definitely one of the softest hairs I have ever felt and I really love that about it. It feels really nice on the skin.

When I just started using the brush I did notice that the brush does shed a couple of hairs every now and then, but it’s very minimal and it only happened the first couple of times I used it. After washing the brush for the first time I didn’t notice this anymore, so that’s totally okay.

The shape of this brush is what makes it unique. It is very hard for me to describe, but I hope that with the pictures this whole thing will make some sort of sense to you. Anyway, it looks like a small powder brush but less thick and with a rounded top. Because of this shape it’s perfect to use for lots of different purposes. That’s also why it’s called the Face Blender and not just a powder brush or something like that. Because of its shape and size it’s also great for applying blush, bronzer and even highlighter. I have used it for setting powder a lot and it works great for that as well, although I do think a slightly bigger brush would be more efficient for that purpose. But then again, this does allow you to have more control.

I do have to say that at the time I took these pictures I had never washed the brush before. After washing it for the first time I did notice that the brush seemed to be a bit bigger. It doesn’t make a huge difference, but because it did get a bit bigger I did like it even more for setting powder and blush and bronzer, but it seemed a bit less appropriate for highlighter. I do have a particularly small face, so maybe that’s just my face, but for me it ended up looking a bit too large for that. I have tried it and it’s definitely possible, but I don’t love it for that purpose.

In terms of quality I do think that this brush is amazing. It is a brush made out of very proper materials and you can tell that they put a lot of effort into it. Because of that I feel like it is a brush that will live a long life. Of course you have to take proper care of it and wash it regularly, but if you do, I think this is a brush that will last until I’m old and wrinkly.

All in all I do think that the Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush is an amazing multi-tasker. It is a brush made from very high-quality materials and the hairs are just so incredibly soft, I’d never want to stop touching it. It’s a brush great for applying all kinds of powder products on all areas of your face, which makes it great for on the go. It’s one brush for everything. In addition to that I do think that this is a brush that will last you a lifetime and with all of that in mind I do consider this brush worthy of its hefty price tag. I still think that it’s a real investment, but to me it’s a very good investment. So if you are on the hunt for a proper face brush, this is definitely one I’d recommend!

That will be it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this brush and also which brush brand you adore the most!
