Bobbi Brown is one of my current favourite brands. Especially when it comes to their complexion products. I’ve already tried a couple of their foundations, one of their Shimmer Bricks and one of their Brightening Bricks, but so far I had never tried one of their blushes just yet. So, a couple of weeks ago I changed that. I bought one of the Bobbi Brown Blushes in the shade Rose and today I’m going to review it. So, if you’re interested in finding out what I think of this blush and whether or not I think it is worth the money, make sure you continue reading!
Like all Bobbi Brown products this blush comes in a very simplistic packaging. Usually I’m a huge fan of simplistic packagings like this, but for some reason I think this packaging could’ve been designed a bit better. It’s very basic and not really a product that will stand out in your collection if it comes to the looks of it. Anyway, the packaging isn’t the most important thing when it comes to a makeup product of course, so if the powder is going to be amazing I can forget about the packaging. But really Bobbi Brown, you might want to step up your packaging game and make your products look a little bit more luxurious.
Moving on to some more important details like the shade. Bobbi Brown has a ton of blush shades in their collection. They have 17 different shades to be exact. That’s a lot to choose from and for me as a very indecisive person that’s very difficult. I ended up just picking one without thinking and going for it. Normally I don’t live on the edge like that, but what the hell. Sometimes you have to let go a little, right?

Anyway, I ended up buying shade number 3 which is called Rose. It’s a very basic name which is kind of disappointing. To be honest, I do think that Bobbi Brown in general is kind of basic when it comes to their packagings and naming and such. The fact that the quality of their products is so incredible does make up for it, but please Bobbi Brown. Try to make your stuff look a little more fun. I’d really appreciate that.
Anyway, let’s talk about the colour again. As the name already suggests this powder has a rosy colour to it. Because something went a little bit wrong during the editing process the pictures are a little dark and the colour might come across a bit darker than it is, but I do think it’s a pretty reasonable representation of the actual colour. It’s a nice rosy pink. It’s a very natural tone and a shade you could definitely wear on a daily basis. It’s not that bright or popping, but it does make your face look a bit more healthy and alive and that’s basically all that I look for in a blush. I mean, you gotta fake what you don’t have, right?!
I do think that this shade is perfect for everyday wear because of its natural factor and I also think it’s a very universally flattering shade. Of course it can’t look as good as on some people on everybody, but I do think that in general, most people would look good wearing this blush.
Moving on to the claims. According to Bobbi Brown their Blush Powders have a satin-like formula with a matte finish and longlasting effect. The blush applies effortlessly and is supposed to be perfect for women who are looking for a nice and natural flush on their cheeks that is going to make them look healthier and more fresh. They also claim that this blush will make you look like you’re actually blushing which is why it’s supposed to look so natural.
Overall I think that Bobbi Brown did a great job at making their product sound absolutely spectacular. I mean, just by looking at it in the pan I didn’t really know how much to expect from it, but after reading the claims my expectations were high. After all it is Bobbi Brown we are talking about here. That’s a brand that generally delivers great, high-quality products. So, in other words, the bar is set high!
Luckily for me as well as for Bobbi Brown, this blush does live up to my expectations. I do think that Bobbi Brown was speaking the truth in their claims and that’s something I really appreciate.
Look at that blusher. Look at it. Isn’t it stunning. On the swatch it is very pigmented, maybe a bit too pigmented for my liking, but on the cheeks I do think it looks absolutely gorgeous. I do think that this is a blush you should be careful with. Because the colour pay-off is this intense you do have to use a less dense blush or use a very light hand or both. I sometimes even let the brush touch my hand before I let it touch my cheek so the blush definitely won’t be too extreme on my face. If you are too heavy handed or use a too dense blush this blush could definitely make you look a little clownesque, so if that’s a look you’re going for, Bobbi Brown is there for you as well!
Enough with the joking, let’s get back on track with this review. Let’s talk about the staying power. Bobbi Brown made it sound as if this blush was going to stay put all day long. And surprisingly enough it really does. Well, of course it depends on if you have to go through a storm or if you get touched on your cheeks a lot, but in general this blush does stay in place for most part of the day. It really feels like this blush melts into the skin and really becomes part of your skin. That might sound a little scary, but I hope it does make sense as well.
Lastly I want to talk about the texture for a second. I normally talk about that before I talk about all of the other quality-related things, but well, who cares. Anyway, the powder does really have a unique texture. It’s almost as if the powder is a bit creamy and satiny at the same time. It’s a very smooth and rich powder and therefore it feels very luxurious to the touch. I’m a big fan of that!
Overall this Bobbi Brown Blush Powder really wowed me. I think it’s a great product. I love the shade, the quality is just incredible and I really like the way this blusher looks on my cheeks. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that I think the packaging is a little bit boring and that they should really amp up their game when it comes to giving their shades a cool and playful name. Aside from that I think it’s an amazing blusher and I love using it a ton!
That’s about it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this blush and if you have any experience with the Bobbi Brown blushes. If so, let me know which shade is your favourite!
