A while ago my skin exploded and I just didn’t know what to do with it anymore or how to get it to look reasonable again. I had tried everything I could think of. The only thing I hadn’t thought of is the fact that my skin might be dehydrated and in need of some serious hydration. After I figured that out I went ahead and bought the Biotherm Aquasource Deep Serum. It looked very interesting and it sounded pretty promising. I bought it and I’ve been using it for almost a month now, so I feel like today would be a great day to review this product and let you guys know if it has made any change in the quality of my skin and the way it looks. If you’re interesting in finding that out and way more, make sure you continue reading!
Before we jump into the details I first want to go over the packaging. This is my first Biotherm product so I wasn’t really familiar with the brand and their usual style, but I do like what I see. The product comes inside a box, like most products do nowadays, and the bottle is made out of glass and it comes with a pump. The bottle isn’t extremely large but it does contain 50ml of product which is quite a reasonable amount. The bottle has a gradient effect going on and has a bit of a greenish colour to it. Through the bottle you can actually see the product which has a bit of a shimmer to it which is visible through the glass. Overall I think the bottle does look really pretty and luxurious and I like that it’s not too large but it does contain a normal amount of product.
Having discussed that, let’s quickly get started on the actual review because I do have quite a lot to tell you guys regarding this product. Let’s start off by saying that this serum is from Biotherm’s Aquasource collection. This collection is all about hydration and basically is perfect for my skin at the moment. This serum is one of the most hydrating products out of the range and perfect for really tackling the dehydration of the skin.
Biotherm Aquasource Deep Serum – €52,08
On the back of the box Biotherm tells us a little more about this interesting product. They say that the source of all beauty begins with a perfectly hydrated skin: full of moisture, plumped and luminous. This serum supposedly has 3 times more concentrated ingredients than the previous version and is perfect for deep hydration to improve the quality of the skin, liberate light and enhance your beauty ritual. With its illuminating rosy micro pearls the formula is supposed to beautify the skin and highlight it with a soft natural glow.
Overall it seems to be a very hydrating product with a glow to it. And I have to say that that’s pretty much exactly what it is. They do make it sound a little vague, but it’s actually pretty much exactly what you want your hydrating serum to be if you have dehydrated skin.
So, let’s get into the product. The texture of the product is really nice. It’s a really nice and thin fluid, it almost looks like a thin gel-moisturiser, and it has a bit of a white colour to it with some shimmer. The shimmer might sound very scary but trust me, it looks incredibly natural on the skin. Because of the lightweight texture this product sinks into the skin really quickly and it also allows people with rather oily skin (which I also have) to use it. It’s not too heavy at all.
The serum also has a really nice scent to it. If you don’t like your skincare to have perfume in it – which I totally understand – that might be a deal breaker for you, but I personally really like and enjoy the scent. It smells very fresh and soft and it does smell quite feminine but in a luxury way.
I use this serum every morning right after cleansing my skin to bring back the moisture. After cleansing my skin it tends to feel a little dry – or dehydrated – and this helps with that perfectly. It’s super smooth and easy to apply and it visibly returns the life to my skin. The glow inside the product makes my skin look nice and radiant but not in a oily way. It just looks really pretty. It’s hard for me to describe what it looks like and I couldn’t capture it on camera, but trust me, the glow isn’t something you should be scared of, it’s actually really pretty.
After applying the serum and letting it sink in for a second my skin feels incredibly smooth and soft. It actually feels like it’s ready for the rest of my skincare and makeup. This serum definitely creates a perfect base of your everyday makeup, but also for a no-makeup day.
But enough about the short-term effects. What is more important is how this serum works on the long term. I do think it’s slightly difficult to really judge this product on that because every change in your skin’s quality can be caused by many different things, but overall I am very positive about this serum. I do feel like my complexion looks less dull and more hydrated. I used to have pretty visible and deep fine lines underneath my eyes because of the drought and those are gone.
Another thing I’ve noticed since I started using this product is that my skin is way less oily. I might dedicate an entire post to how a hydrating product can actually minimise the amount of oil on your face, but in short: if your skin lacks hydration, it might overcompensate by producing more sebum. Thanks to the sebum your skin will get very shiny and you’ll also be more likely to get blemishes. Thanks to this product most of my oiliness has gone. Of course my nose can still be pretty shiny, but for example my forehead isn’t really shiny anymore. I wish I knew about it sooner!
When it comes to the texture of my skin I’m surprised too. Thanks to this serum my skin has been feeling a lot smoother than it ever has. It’s not as textured anymore and the extremely large pores have diminished as well. I didn’t know it would do that for my skin, but I’m really glad it did.
Overall I have nothing bad to say about this Biotherm Aquasource Deep Serum at all. It does so many great things for my skin. I know that it’s quite an expensive product, but if you really struggle with your skin something like this is definitely worth it. It has reduced the amount of oil on my skin tremendously, it has made my skin look a lot more hydrated and healthy and it has visibly improved the overall quality of my skin. I’m really happy I decided to invest in this and give it a go because it has really made me open my eyes for serums. If you struggle with either dehydrated or oily skin, this is definitely something you should try out!
And that basically concludes today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what serum you use on a daily basis and why you like it so much!
