Biafine: The Answer To All Your (Skin) Problems

26/05/2017

If you haven’t heard about Biafine yet you either don’t read a lot about (French) skincare or you live far from Europe. Anyway, Biafine is a cream made for healing burn wounds. But people in the beauty industry are using it as a face product to get super smooth and soft skin. Because it’s such an affordable product and because it just sounds very interesting, I decided I had to try it for myself. Now that I have tried it for myself I feel like it’s time to share my opinions on it and let you guys know whether it’s truly an amazing skincare product or not. If you’re interested in reading about that, make sure you continue reading!

So, Biafine. Before I jump into anything about the product itself I first want to start off by talking about the packaging. There are quite a few versions of Biafine available. Many of them are particularly designed for using on the face, but the one I got isn’t. This is the original burn wound cream by Biafine. The famous one. It comes in a big white box with green letters on it that say ‘Biafine’. The tube is exactly the same. It’s made out of a metal-like material like other medical creams and it looks pretty cool to me.

Back when I bought it there were too sizes available. The bigger size with almost double the product was only one or two Euro’s more expensive so that’s what I decided to go for. Online Biafine is rather expensive, but in the French pharmacy it’s not. I only paid 5 or 6 Euro’s for this enormous tube. Isn’t that insane?

Biafine Emulsion – €16,99

Having said that let’s move onto the actual product. I heard about Biafine a long time ago through some of my favourite Dutch blogs. People said that it was supposed to be a miracle. That if you put this on your skin, your skin would all of a sudden become soft, smooth and flawless. Throughout the years I might have dramatised the claims a little bit, but that’s roughly what people said it was going to be like.

Since the back of the packaging is all French and I can’t speak or read French at all I have no idea what it claims to do, but according to a Dutch website Biafine is great for burn wounds, as after-sun and it could be used after radiation for cancer. It’s also great for getting flawless and soft skin and to fight acne.

According to that site you should use this at night before you go to bed, after cleansing the skin. You apply a layer of this all over the skin and let it sink in. The next morning the skin should look better and more even. If you have severe acne it might take two to three nights for it to get better.

The claim that it should help fight acne sounds pretty interesting to me. I can’t say I have acne, but I am breaking out terribly lately. I have pimples literally everywhere! If this product could in any way make a difference that would be great. But since the product is so thick I initially didn’t expect it to actually work for acne. I actually thought it would be better for people with severe dryness on the skin and problems like that.

And  I have to say I wasn’t completely wrong. One day my eyes started to get very irritated again and when they do that they get incredibly, incredibly dry. I decided to put some of this stuff on it and it worked. The next day my eyes were back to normal. Back when it was really bad that took me a month and now it just took a night of Biafine and the problem was completely solved.

But does it work to fight acne. I mean it works for literally anything. Every irritation or dry patch can be taken care of by this product, but acne? That just doesn’t sound logic. But to my surprise it does actually work. I have tried it multiple times to be sure that it really does work and it’s not just a coincidence, but you guys, it really works. After a night or two of using this product most of my pimples were gone or at least a lot smaller and less visible than they were before.

One thing I do think is important to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t use this on a daily basis. First of all because there is some sort of medicine in this since it is meant to be used on burn wounds. But second of all because it is a very heavy and thick cream and you shouldn’t use that on a daily basis because then it could cause breakouts.

Overall I’m really impressed by this product. It’s just something magical that works for pretty much every skin problem you could ever have. It’s really impressive and I’m still impressed by the fact that it actually works, even for acne! I’m really glad I decided to give it a go and if you ever find yourself in a French pharmacy I highly recommend you get a tube for yourself too because it’s definitely worth the try!

And that concludes today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of it and whether you would use this or not!

XOXO, Nicole.
