BH Cosmetics x Ashely Tisdale Cream Blush

09/07/2017

Recently I purchased my second cream blush ever. One by BH Cosmetics in collaboration with Ashley Tisdale. I don’t know where Ashley is at now, but back in the day (Sweet Life Of Zach & Cody/ HSM, those days) I used to absolutely love her. When I saw this cream blusher and saw that it was in collaboration with her I knew I needed to buy it. Aside from that I really wanted to add a new cream blusher to my collection so this seemed like the perfect way to do that. Anyway, long story short: I bought a cream blush and today I’m going to review it. If you’re interested in finding out more about it, make sure you continue reading!

Let’s start off by discussing the packaging like we always do. The box in which the product comes is really, really pretty. It’s white with rose gold stripes and has some text on it. I think it just looks absolutely stunning and it actually does look pretty luxurious to me. It actually reminds me of limited edition packagings from brands like MAC or things like that. Anyway, once you open it up you’ll find this white round pot with the blusher inside. The shape of the packaging is very similar to the old MAC packagings, but instead of black this one is white, and I’ve always loved the look of that. It doesn’t feel particularly heavy, but in my opinion it does look pretty good.

I have to say that I have never, ever tried anything from BH Cosmetics before aside from a brush set that I ended up really regretting (I literally only used it once). I know that it’s quite a big brand and it used to be even more loved in the beauty community back in the day, but it just isn’t that easily available where I live so I just never really got the chance to give their products a proper try.

BH Cosmetics Cream Cheek and Lip Tint – €10,80

There are quite a few shades available but I decided to buy the one that might look the scariest. It’s a deep red almost plummy shade called Red Velvet. I don’t really know why, but ever since I started wearing blush I’ve been loving these deep red blush colours. I’m very pale so it’s not the most logical choice, but I just love the look of it. It adds this nice flush to your complexion that makes you look like you just came home from a snow storm and you’re warming up in front of the fire place.

Anyway, the colour is called Red Velvet and I think that name does describe the colour pretty well. Like I said the colour does look quite scary in the pan, but I was sure it wouldn’t look as extreme on the cheeks. Another reason why I really like this colour is because I think it looks amazing on all skin tones. It looks good on very pale people, but colours like this will also look absolutely stunning on deeper skin tones.

Moving on to the texture of the product. Like I said it’s a cream blusher so it has a creamy texture. But creamy can mean a lot of different things. In this case it has the perfect creamy texture. It’s quite lightweight, not to thick, it doesn’t feel like butter and it’s incredibly easy to work with. It’s also not very slippery so it won’t move around, but it’s not too sticky in a way you just can’t get it to look nice and even.

In my opinion cream blushes like this are perfect for summer. I know that there aren’t a lot of people who are very in to cream blush, and I have to say I haven’t been a big fan of them in the past either, but to me cream blushes are just the perfect product if you want something long lasting. It really sticks to your face, just like a foundation would, which is why it doesn’t fade as quickly as a powder blush would. Therefore I think it’s especially perfect in summer when you’re sweating a lot because this just stays in place a lot better.

I also really like the cream blushes do have a rather natural look once blended in to the skin. They aren’t as harsh and if you went a little bit too overboard with them you can easily blend it in even more to make it look a little more natural. Of course it’s not impossible to do that with a powder blush, but I just find that this works a little easier. The only downside to working with cream blush is that you have to apply it before you powder your face and since I’m really used applying blush after I’ve done pretty much all of my makeup I tend to forget to apply it sometimes.

Back to the quality of the blush again. Aside from the usual things like being lightweight and easy to blend BH Cosmetics doesn’t claim too much when it comes to this product. I don’t really mind that because well, it’s better not to claim anything special at all than to claim things that just aren’t true, but it does mean that I can’t discuss anything too exciting about it. The claims that it does make are true by the way, but I feel like I’ve already discussed that in enough detail throughout this post.

Moving on to the swatches. The right swatch is just a swatch straight from the pot without blending and the one on the left is the same thing but blended. I did that to show you guys that even though it looks really extreme in the pot, it’s not as harsh on the skin. For the same reason I added a picture of me wearing the blush and as you can tell it does look really nice and natural. Just like I’ve got a natural flush going on, nothing too crazy.

So pigmentation wise it’s very much okay. It does everything I’d expected and everything I could want it to do. When it comes to staying power I also have nothing negative to say about this really. It just stays in place all day, no matter how sweaty I get or how often I touch my face, it just doesn’t budge.

Overall I’m really impressed by this product. I don’t have too much experience with cream blush, but this experience is really good. I really like this product and I’m really, really glad I decided to just go ahead and buy it. It might not be something I’d usually go for, but now that I have it I can say that I would’ve really missed out if I didn’t. In other words: it’s an amazing cream blush, one of the better ones out there, the colour is absolutely stunning and if you’re on the hunt for a cream blush I definitely think that this is worth the try!

Thank you so much for reading today’s post and be sure to let me know if you ever wear cream blush and if you do, let me know which one is your personal favourite and what shades you like!

XOXO, Nicole.
