The past year has been a great one for me when it comes to all of my makeup purchases. This year I’ve bought by far the most stunning pieces of makeup I have ever bought and I’m really glad that I did. Because I’m so excited about them I decided it might be fun to show you guys which items I think are my best buys of twenty sixteen. If you’re interested in finding out which ones I’m talking about, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off this post with my number one favourite makeup product of all time: the Dior Star foundation. To be completely honest with you guys this was definitely an impulse purchase, but it did end up to be the best impulse purchase I ever did. For some reason this foundation is way better than any other foundation that exists in this world and I’m obsessed with it. It feels so incredibly nice on the skin and it just looks so stunning. I can’t go without it anymore.
Another great product I bought this year is the Dior Splendor blush. I don’t know what it is about Dior but when it comes to texture they just do it right. Whether we’re talking foundation or blush, Dior knows what it is doing. It’s incredible. This blush is by far the prettiest and most amazing one I own and therefore it definitely deserves a spot in this post!
Onto Tarte. In 2016 I bought an awful lot of Tarte makeup and I have to say: I love every part of it. Every piece of makeup I bought from them, every single formula, it’s all just incredibly amazing. My favourite piece that I bought in 2016 is for sure the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom palette. It was the first Tarte product I ever bought and it’s still one of my favourites. I love the packaging of it and I love the way it works on the eyes.
I also really like the blush set that I bought. I think it was a great value set and I’m glad I didn’t hold back. This set contained 4 travel sized blushes and one of the best makeup brushes that I currently own. How amazing is that.
Onto Benefit. I really discovered Benefit in 2016. Before I also really loved the brand, but I didn’t buy much from it. This year I discovered three mind-blowing products that I seriously can’t go without anymore. First of all I got myself the Goof Proof Brow Pencil by Benefit. It came in a great value set which made it actually quite affordable and I’ve been using it for ages now. It’s the easiest product to fill in your brows with and I love the result of it!
The other two products are the Hoola Bronzer and the Watt’s Up Highlighter Stick. I got these as a set from QVC for only about €40-€45 which is actually quite a great deal. The quality of these products is absolutely amazing and they just look so gorgeous on the skin. I love them!
The next item I actually bought for the first time on the last day of 2015, but this year I repurchased it. It’s the Beautyblender. I discovered it at the end of 2015 (literally the 31st of December) and I haven’t stopped using it eversince. It’s just the best and the easiest way to blend in your foundation, concealer and any other (creamy) product and I love the way it makes my face look. This year I repurchased it in a really great value set. It came with two blenders and a full size cleanser which makes keeping them clean even easier than before.
Another great buy of 2016 is the Becca Highlighter in Opal. As you can tell it’s only a mini sized one but it’s the best. It’s one of the most intense highlighters in the world and I love the glow that it gives me.
Onto the last two best buys. First up is the YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick in the shade Beige Blouse. This has quickly become my holy grail lipstick and I’m so happy with that. It’s the richest, most creamy lipstick in the world and it feels and looks so good on the lips. I bought it on sale for less than 30 Euro’s which makes it even better and I’m pretty sure I’ll buy another one from their range in 2017.
The last product is the famous Lancome Long-Lasting Softening Concealer. It was quite hard to get my hands on to be honest, but I managed to do it and I’m really glad that I did. This is by far the best concealer in the world and even though it has quite a large price tag I think everyone should try it. It’s incredible.
And that pretty much concludes today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know
which products were your best buys of 2016!
XOXO, Nicole.
Wat een prachtige lijst, om jaloers op te zijn haha. De Dior Star foundation wil ik graag ook nog eens proberen.
