A few months ago when Essence updated their collection they added this new brow gel: the Essence Make Me Brow. When I heard the name it immediately made me think of the famous Benefit eyebrow gel called the Gimme Brow. I really wanted to give this budget version a try and after months of forgetting to buy it I finally bought it and today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out if this brow gel is any good, make sure you continue reading!
First of all let’s discuss the packaging. I think this packaging looks absolutely adorable. It’s dark brown, but if you buy a lighter shade it will be a lighter colour, and it has a black lid and white text on it. It does look really adorable in my opinion and it’s definitely a product that looks good in your makeup bag.
The wand it comes with looks pretty good too. I don’t like it when brow gels come with those hunormous wands because it’s just impossible to apply the product to your brow without completely messing it up that way. This one, luckily, comes with a quite small and precise wand. It’s perfect for defining your brows!
I bought this brow gel in colour number 2 called Browny Brows. Essence really slays it when it comes to product names. To be honest Essence isn’t my favourite and most used brand, but I have to admit that no brand is as amazing at naming their products as Essence is. It’s just so creative and cute.
The shade Browny Brows is perfect for people with medium to somewhat darker brown hair. I do dye my hair but it’s always medium to semi-dark brown so this shade matches my hair colour perfectly. It is essential to really look at which shade your buying when you decide to buy this because it’s a pigmented product so it will looks strange if you put blonde stuff in your brown brows.
Like I said the wand is very precise and easy to work with. It happens pretty often that I accidentally spill a little bit of the product on a place it doesn’t belong, but with this product that rarely happens to me. Aside from being precise this brush also makes sure that the product is applied evenly throughout the brows. It’s not clumpy or uneven in areas, it’s exactly the way you want it to be.
Pigmentation wise it’s also pretty impressive. Usually tinted brow gels aren’t that tinted, but this one does have quite some pigment packed in it. I really like that about it because it allows you to both use it as a setting product for your brush as well as for just filling in your brows with just this one product. I think that’s great!
When it comes to keeping your brows in the right shape all day this brow gel is better than anyone could’ve expected. Ever since I started using this product my brows look just as good in the morning as they do at night. I really like that!
So all together I can conclude that this is quite an amazing product. Like I said I’m not a huge Essence fan but this product really is amazing. It’s better than some of my more expensive brow gels and it’s so affordable! I have never tried the Benefit Gimme Brow but I have tried another Benefit brow gel and I have to say, this one is way better! So if you’re on the hunt for an amazing tinted brow gel: look no further and give this one a try!
The Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara is available at Kruidvat for €2,69.
That was it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know which eyebrow gel is your current favourite!
XOXO, Nicole.
