Benefit Cosmetics CORALista Blush

19/12/2017

Ever since I tried & tested the Benefit Hoola Bronzer I’ve been dying to try one of their boxed blushes as well. First of all because they look absolutely amazing, they are so adorable! But also because I think the quality is just amazing. At least the quality of the Hoola Bronzer is. So, long story short, I bought this Benefit Coralista Blush a long time ago and today I’m finally going to review it. Due to my life being extremely busy lately I haven’t gotten around to reviewing it any sooner than today, but better late than never right? Anyway, if you’re interested in finding out more about this gorgeously packaged blush, make sure you continue reading!

So, first things first let’s talk about the packaging. To be completely honest with you guys the packaging is about 70% of the reason why I really wanted to buy this product, so it’s a given that I like it. I know that there are a lot of people who think these boxed blushes from Benefit look cheap or a little over the top and I can definitely see why somebody would think that, however I do really like it personally. I really can’t tell you in detail what exactly it is that I like about this, but I just like the overall look of this little box. Aside from the colourful design I also like the fact that it comes with a little mirror inside. Even though it’s very little and probably too little to actually use as a proper mirror, I do appreciate it being there.

I also really like the brush that comes with it. I have to say that back in the day I never used brushes that come with products, mainly because 99% of the time they’re just crappy. However, lately I have bought several products that come with brushes which are actually proper and which I actually use in my daily routine. This brush is one of them. It has a very basic shape but it just works really well. I do think that it works even better for bronzer, which is why I love using it with my Benefit Hoola Bronzer, but it works for blush as well. And how handy is it to have a proper brush inside your blush box. It saves up a ton of space!

Benefit CORALista Blush – €34,50

Having discussed the packaging and the brush in detail, let’s move on to the actual product. The name of the product, CORALista, already tells you what shade of blush this is going to be. It’s not trying to hide anything. So, a coral-coloured blush. Back in the day coral used to be my favourite colour and I loved coral coloured blushes and lipsticks, so this shade is right up my alley. Nowadays I don’t use as much coral as I did back when I loved it so much, but I can still appreciate an occasional coral blush every now and then. I think it’s a very fresh and healthy colour that is perfect for creating that naturally healthy look. It’s also a very natural shade which makes it perfect for everyday wear and no-makeup makeup looks.

Aside from that I also think that coral is a very universal shade. I feel like this is a colour that would look good on so many people. On my pale skin I do have to be careful I don’t go too all out because if I do apply it with a too heavy hand it can look a bit too intense, but if I use it with a lighter hand it will look good on my skin tone as well.

But this blush isn’t just coral. It also has a pearly shine to it which really is the cherry to the pie in this case. I normally appreciate my matte blushes since my highlighters give me enough glow, but this blush isn’t necessarily shimmery or intensely glowy at all. It just has a nice, natural glow to it which makes it look even more natural and pretty when applied on the cheeks. I really love it.

Moving on to claims and quality. Benefit has a very interesting way to describe this blush, so instead of turning their claims into a little text using my own words, let’s just read through the claims in their words:

“Take a tropical pleasure trip with CORALista, the cheerful cheek powder from Benefit. Sweep this coral pink powder onto your cheeks anytime, anywhere. Move your brush to the beat and turn up the heat… bikini optional!

Brush this cheerful CORALista powder across your cheekbones to put a smile on your face. In true Benefit style CORALista comes complete in quirky packaging to look oh-so cutesy in your cosmetic clutch.

Directions of use:

  • Swirl brush in the box and blow off excess.
  • Smile and brush lightly across the apples of your cheeks, starting from the hairline and working in”.

Overall they make it sound like a very summery product and a very nice product as well. Even though it’s clearly aimed at summer, I still enjoy using it during autumn and winter time. I don’t really think that you can’t use a blush because of a season, but I do agree with the fact that this is a very summery colour of blush.

But is this blush really that amazing as Benefit makes it sound? In short I do think it is. The first time I saw the shade I did really like it but I was a little hesitant as well because colours like this can look a little funky on my skin. Like I have a rash on my cheeks, something like that. Luckily for me that wasn’t the case with this blush. It really added this gorgeous, healthy and natural flush to my cheeks which I really like. It really makes my complexion look a little more healthy and therefore I think it’s a great blush to use on days you’re not feeling too well but you do want to look very well. It’s perfect for that.

Quality wise I have nothing bad to say about it really. I think that the pigmentation is A-okay. It’s pigmented enough to show up within one swipe but it’s not overly pigmented. The texture of the powder is really nice as well, it’s soft, silky and very easy to work with. It blends seamlessly which makes it a very fool proof product. You don’t have to worry about it look blotchy on your cheeks if you haven’t spent too much attention on it while applying it. It takes care of itself.

In terms of staying power I’m pretty positive as well. It’s not ground-breaking or anything like that, but it does stay in place for the most part of the day and that’s enough for me. Good job Benefit!

Overall I really like the Benefit Cosmetics CORALista Blush. I think the shade is absolutely stunning and I think it’s the perfect everyday blush colour for a ton of different skin tones. I also think that the quality of this blush is just incredible. I really don’t have anything negative to say about it and that’s pretty unique for me. Normally there’s always something I dislike about a product. So, all together I think the Benefit CORALista blush is amazing and I do recommend giving it a try if you wish!

And that’s pretty much it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this blush and if you have any experience with the Benefit boxed blushes!
