Bellapierre Shimmer Powder

10/07/2017

Another one of the products that came inside the amazing June LF Beauty Box is this Bellapierre Shimmer Powder. Bellapierre is a reasonably new brand to me so I was very excited to find this inside the box and play around with it a little bit. Not only because it’s a brand I haven’t really discovered yet, but also because the name ‘Shimmer Powder’ actually sounds really interesting to me. Anyway, I took pictures of it and after that I started trying it out. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about this product, make sure you continue reading!

Let’s start this review off by discussing the packaging. The packaging is actually really simple. It’s just a clear plastic jar with a black lid that says ‘Bellapierre’. Nothing more or less than that. The jar is quite small and actually looks like those sample jars. It’s very basic and simple but I do like the way it looks. It’s not my favourite packaging on earth, but it could have been way worse.

When I received this I was a little confused about its purpose. I means it’s called ‘Shimmer Powder’ but that’s actually quite a vague term. I mean what does it mean. Does it means it’s a shimmer powder for the face, like a highlighter, or is it meant to be used as an eyeshadow? I just wasn’t sure about that. I took it to the Bellapierre website and found out it’s -from what I understand- meant to be used as an eyeshadow. I’m still not completely sure about that because I have heard someone say it’s actually more of a highlighter, but well, I’ve tried it as both so it’ll be fine either way.

Bellapierre Shimmer Powder in Exite – €13

But before we jump into any details let’s first talk about the colour for a bit. The shade I received is called Exite. Bellapierre discribes this as a shimmery white with purple reflection and I can agree with that description. It’s quite an icy white shade and therefore it’s definitely on the cool-toned side of things. I’m personally more into champagne coloured things when it comes to eyeshadow and highlighter, but I’m definitely willing to step out of my comfort zone for a bit and give something a little more cool-toned a try.

The thing that amazed me is how many shades Bellapierre actually has in this Shimmer Powder range. They literally have every colour you could ever think of or want. So if, after reading this review, you decide you want one of these powders of your own, there is a lot to choose from!

Moving on to the product itself. According to the Bellapierre website these Shimmer Powders are vibrant eyeshadows that give long hold and contains only mineral ingredients which makes these powders 100% hypoallergenic. The Bellapierre Powdered Powders are supposed to multifunctional. They can be used as eyeshadows or mixed with lipbalm, nail polish, transparent mascara or even a drop of water so they become an eyeliner.

So after reading that first sentence I thought I finally figured out what it is: an eyeshadow, but after reading the rest of the text it gets a little more vague again. My conclusion on the purpose is that it’s just a very multifunctional product but it’s made to be an eyeshadow. Aside from that we now know that this powder is made out of mineral ingredients only and that it is hypoallergenic so that’s obviously a big plus too.

It also says that this powder is very vibrant and long-wearing. Well the vibrant part is definitely true. This powder does definitely have enough colour pay off and it’s actually looking gorgeous on the swatch. The only thing is that it really is a shimmer powder rather than a pigment so it’s a little more difficult to distribute it evenly over the eye (or cheek). To fix that problem you can easily use something like an eyeshadow primer or a cream base underneath for it to stick to so that’s definitely not a problem at all.

But like I said it’s a little more difficult to work with than your regular eyeshadow powder, or pigment if you will. Not only when it comes to applying it or distributing it evenly, but also when it comes to blending it. If you’re too rough you’ll just remove the particles or cause fall-out, but -especially if you’ve used a sticky base underneath- a too gentle appeal won’t be very effective either.

But the fact that it ain’t that easy to apply doesn’t necessarily make it a bad product. Most loose eyeshadows are hard to work with let alone glittery products. Those are just a nightmare. But if it’s a gorgeous product it’s worth it in my opinion. And even though the colour isn’t something I’d usually go for, I think this product looks gorgeous on the eyes. I love using it as an inner corner highlight and also as a highlight on the highest part of my brow bone. It’s also a gorgeous shade for brightening up your eyeshadow look by applying a little bit in the centre of the lid. But applying it as an all-over shadow is a bit too much for me. Of course it would definitely look beautiful like that but for me that’s too much of a hustle and it doesn’t suit me that well.

Like I said this isn’t just an eyeshadow. It’s actually a very multifunctional product. You can even use it as a highlight for the face. I tried this once and to be completely honest with you guys, I did love the sparkle it added to my cheeks, but I’m just not the biggest fan of the colour of this powder as a face highlight. So I probably won’t use it like that again, but I’ll definitely use it on my eyes again.

Overall I definitely think that this Bellapierre Shimmer Powder is a gorgeous product. The quality is great and it just looks gorgeous on the eyes. It’s also a multifunctional product so you can use it for a lot of other purposes too which is always a good thing. However as a face highlight I personally don’t like it that much because the colour is just a little too icy for me, but that’s totally just my preference. All together it’s a great powder and definitely a nice product to have in your collection, but it’s not an essential for me!

And that’s pretty much it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this Shimmer Powder and if you’ve ever tried anything else from Bellapierre. If so, be sure to let me know how you liked it!

XOXO, Nicole.
