Recently I purchased one of the most popular primers of all time: the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. I never really got the hype which is why I never really intended on buying this product. But when I saw it in a set on QVC I ended up buying it anyway. So, after trying it out for a couple of weeks I think I have a good idea of what this product is and whether or not it’s worth the money, which is why it’s time for me to review it. So, if you’re interested in finding out whether the Becca Backlight Priming Filter is a holy grail or a holy fail, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off with quickly discussing the packaging. In my opinion Becca is great at creating pretty and classy packagings. This bottle is no exception to that. The bottle itself is mad out of frosted glass and it has a shiny brown pump on it. The lid itself is shiny brown as well and the top of the lid is silver and has the Becca logo printed in it.
The bottle itself feels pretty hefty and well made. It feels luxurious and like they put some effort into it. Overall I really like the packaging. I think it’s fitting for a brand like Becca and I think it’s a gorgeous product to have in your collection when it comes to the looks of it.
So, onto the product itself. According to Becca their Backlight Priming Filter is supposed to blur imperfections and impart a radiant glow. That’s a short but very clear way to describe this product. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this product, the Backlight Priming Filter is a primer with a glow to it. It will make your skin look like you’re glowing from within.
At first I wasn’t sure whether that was a look I actually wanted to go for. My skin is on the rather oily side and for those of you who have similar skin it might seem weird to even want a glowy product like this. However, a glow like this is a whole different thing than an oily glow, which is why I decided to give it a go anyway.
And you guys, I’m in love with it. I use it almost every single day and I’m pretty sure I will never go a day without using it anymore. The reason why I think it’s so amazing is because it just adds the right amount of glow to my skin, it blurs my imperfections a bit and it makes every foundation look way better. Especially on days I use rather matte foundations this product is absolutely essential in order to keep everything looking nice and natural.
In terms of making my makeup last longer, which is basically what any primer should do, I think it does an okay job. I haven’t experiences a whole lot of difference, but it does definitely make a difference. However, what I do notice is that this product will make my foundation go on way smoother and easier and everything will look way more flawless and perfect in the end.
So, I think it’s pretty clear that I like this primer. I like how it makes my skin look, I like the dewiness. I also really like how it makes every foundation, especially those with a matte finish, look way better and I really love how nice and smooth my foundations go on whenever I use this product underneath. All together I think it’s one of the best primers out there and if you’re someone who likes using primer, make sure you give this one a go!
The Becca Backlight Priming Filter is available at Sephora and Babbasu for €34/€35.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know whether or not you think this primer is worth its hefty price!
XOXO, Nicole.
