For the longest time I’ve been using a solid soap to cleanse my Beautyblenders. However, I didn’t use the original one, but a cheaper alternative. The Leco Solid Cleanser. When this was about to be gone I finally decided to buy the real one for a change and see whether or not this would make any difference. I ended up ordering the Beautyblender Blendercleanser Solid and today I’m reviewing it. So if you’re interested in finding out whether or not it’s worth investing in the real deal, make sure you continue reading this post!
The Beautyblender Blenderlceanser Solid comes in a little white jar. It’s a lot smaller than the one I used to have. To compare, the Leco one came with 65 grams of product and costed me €8,95, which comes down to €0,14 per gram. This one comes with 28 grams. It costs €12,80 on Beautybay, so that comes down to €0,48 per gram. That’s a little over 3 times as much money per gram. So in terms of cost I think the Leco one wins this battle, but since that’s a cheaper alternative I don’t think that came as a surprise!
Anyway, the Blendercleanser comes in a white jar. Inside the jar you will get one of those bright pink silicone tools that can make cleansing your Beautyblender a lot easier. I actually bought the Beautyblender Keep.It.Clean as well, so I already have this in the big size, but it’s nice that they give this to you. I do think that it helps a lot!
Another thing I like about this packaging is that it’s made out of plastic and therefore it won’t rust. The one I used to have did rust and after a while it was impossible to open because of that. It also started to look really dirty on the inside and it made my soap look really gross. That is definitely a problem I won’t be having with this one!
Original Beautyblender Blendercleanser Solid 28 grams – €12,80
Like I said I have the Keep.It.Clean from Beautyblender so I use that instead of this little tool, but I have tried it for you guys. It’s a little more difficult to hold than the Keep.It.Clean but I do think it works really well. Because the little nubs on it are quite small and not too pointy they will not harm your Beautyblender. That was actually the first thing I worried about when I saw this thing, but luckily they found a solution to that problem.
What I like about this tool rather than the Keep.It.Clean is that it does have holes in it thanks to which the soap that has been used and the dirt can easily leave the tool so you don’t have to wash it in between the cleansing routine every time.
All in all I do think this is a really handy tool. It gets the dirt out of the Beautyblender a lot quicker and better compared to when you’re doing it using just your hands. It’s also much less annoying. I feel like with this I can really get all of the stains out, which is something I never could and hated when I used to cleanse it using my hands. Great little tool!
Moving on to the product itself. According to Beautyblender their Blendercleanser Solid will keep your Beautyblender sponges in perfect condition. They say that this is a travel-friendly alternative for their liquid Blendercleanser and that it provides the same cleansing results and soothing lavender fragrance. It is free of dyes and skin irritants and has a soothing soy-based formula which should break down rapidly, making it earth-friendly and fun to use. Soy is supposed to have the added benefit of being one of natures finest moisturisers too. It should leave your makeup sponges hygienic and in perfect condition for long-wearing, continuous usage.
In those claims they make it sound like this literally is the solid version of the liquid Blendercleanser and I don’t think that’s completely true. I have used the liquid one for quite some time and I liked it, but I don’t think it’s as effective as the solid one is. I don’t know if it’s because of the formula or because of the fact that it’s liquid, but somehow the solid one is a bit more ‘aggressive’. Comparing it to dupes of the solid cleanser I do think that this one by Beautyblender is way less aggressive than some others can be. I feel like the other solid ones I used did make the colour of my Beautyblender fade really quickly, while that doesn’t necessarily happen with this one.
I also think that this Blendercleanser works really well and quick when it comes to cleansing my Beautyblenders. While normally I hated cleansing my Beautyblenders, I don’t mind it as much anymore. I actually like seeing how well it works and how literally all stains disappear. I also really like the scent of it and the fact that it makes my Beautyblender smell good and feel nice and soft. I also think that it’s way more gentle on the structure of the Beautyblender than dupes are, since my Beautyblenders last me much longer now that I have this one.
All in all I have a really positive experience with the Blendercleanser Solid. I didn’t think it would differ so much from the dupes that I have tried but it does. It’s so much more effective, it doesn’t leave my Beautyblender smelling and feeling weird and it’s super gentle on the sponge. I really think that getting the original cleanser is worth the buy since it does make life so much easier. But if you don’t have the money for it, a dupe will do as well.
With that being said I’m going to end today’s post. Thank you so much for reading it and be sure to let me know what you use to cleanse your Beautyblender(s) with!
