Beat The Rain: My Favourite Rain-Proof Makeup

08/10/2018

Since autumn is literally around the corner. Or actually, it’s already autumn. I think we should be prepared for a lot of rain. A LOT of rain. Here in the Netherlands it’s literally always rainy in autumn and that’s something we just have to deal with. Of course we do complain about it an awful lot, that’s just what we do, but we do have to find ways to live with it. One way to cope with it, is making sure you’re wearing rain-proof makeup. Of course there are a lot of products that claim to be waterproof, but there are also a lot of products that don’t really say anything about that and still beat the rain. In today’s post I’m going to share all of the makeup products with you that, in my opinion, are rain-proof. So, if you want to prepare yourself for what’s coming, make sure you continue reading!

Let’s start off with some base products shall we. In general I think the best way to go is to apply creamy products since these do stick to the face a little better and don’t wash off by the rain as easily. Therefore my rain-proof highlighter pick is the Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighting Stick. This is not just a great product because of the quality, but it is very longlasting. You should apply it underneath your finishing powder and if you do so, you’ll be set for the day.

This next product is rain, sweat, everything proof. This is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer and it’s one of the most longlasting products I have ever tried. This stuff stays in place all day long no matter what. I came to that conclusion after coming home from long, humid days at work with my foundation melted off but fully covered under eye areas. This just amazed me. This product just doesn’t budge at all!

The last base product I’d recommend using when you’re in a rainy-situation is the Urban Decay Deslick Setting Spray. I don’t know what it is about it but this stuff makes your makeup stay in place all day long no matter what happens. It creates some sort of shield that nothing can break. Not even a rainstorm.

As for eyeshadow I’d also recommend going for some creamy products. Or at least using creamy products underneath the powders. I do this on a daily basis just because I like using cream shadows as a base, but you can also do this specifically to make your look rain proof.

The products I’d recommend using are these MAC Paint Pots. They are very pretty, their formula is just amazing and they last you a very long time. They are also very longlasting and the perfect base to use underneath any eyeshadow look and especially when it’s rainy outside. The powder shadows you use on top will stick to the product really well making it stay in place much better. But these paint pots are also great for using on their own. They can look really pretty that way as well!

This next product is also a huge favourite of mine. I have to say that I haven’t used these pencils in a while because I have to sharpen them and somehow all of my sharpeners are gone, but I’ve used these to dead the past couple of years. These are the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils in five different shades. My two favourites are Stag and Zero. Stag is a really pretty very dark brown colour. This creates a natural yet defined look. Zero is the full on black shade that is the deepest of blacks I have seen throughout my makeup days and it’s stunning for adding some darkness to the lash line.

What I love about these pencils is that they just don’t budge. I have worn these on my waterline for days. Days when my eyes were very watery, days when it was raining outside. And it didn’t seem to affect these pencils. They just stayed in place amazingly and didn’t move. So if you are a lover of eyeliner, you might want to get some of these pencils because they beat the rain like no other!

Moving on to mascara which is always a difficult thing when it comes to water. I have tried a lot of mascaras in my day, some of them were waterproof, some of them weren’t. But the waterproof claim isn’t always what’s going to tell you if it’s a rain-proof product. For example this Dimensions de Chanel Mascara doesn’t claim to be waterproof, but on me it just does not smudge. Not in the rain and not when I’m crying my eyes out. So for me this is definitely a great rain-proof makeup product!

As for brows I have to say it was pretty difficult to find something that was rain-proof. After thinking about the products I have and the experience I have with them I realised that the main thing that makes a brow product rain-proof is the texture. If your pencil is very waxy it will wash off. However, if it’s a bit more dry, not super dry but just a bit dryer, it will be more longlasting. This resulted in the It Cosmetics Brow Power in Universal to be my favourite rain-proof brow product. Looking back I’ve always had good experiences with it during rainy or very sweaty situations. So I definitely think this is worth the try!

And those were all of my rain-proof products. I know there aren’t a lot, but let me tell you. It’s hard to find a product that is going to be really rain-proof. Some might survive a soft rainfall, but it’s hard to find something that will survive a real rainstorm. These products mentioned definitely will and therefore I definitely think you should try some of them out if you have to go through the rain a lot!

That’s pretty much it for today! I hope you enjoyed reading about my favourite rain-proof makeup products and be sure to let me know which products you’d recommend for a rainy day!
