Throughout the years Beautyblender has launched a ton of different Beautyblenders. What started off with a bright pink makeup sponge ended up in an entire collection of sponges. I never really got what the difference was between the sponges which is why I really wanted to try them out and see for myself if there is even a difference between them, apart from the colour, or not at all. If you’re interested in finding out, make sure you continue reading!
Without rambling on about anything not important first, let’s just immediately jump into the first Beautyblender. This is the Beautyblender nude. Instead of having a bright pink colour, this one has a skintone tint to it. In my mind this nude colour would be perfect because foundation stains wouldn’t be that obvious on it. I have to say that I wasn’t that wrong about it. Obviously you can tell if there’s a bit of staining, but it’s not remotely as dirty looking as a used pink Beautyblender.
When it comes to the feel and the texture of the Beautyblender nude I have nothing special to say. In my opinion it’s pretty similar to the regular Beautyblender and the red one I own. I have to say it’s a little more on the soft side compared to the pink blender, but that’s all.
Onto the Beautyblender PRO. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect of it, but I did expect it to have something extra special to it since it’s called PRO. But, before we jump into the blender itself, let’s first quickly discuss the looks of it. The Beautyblender PRO is full on black. According to Beautyblender this means that stains aren’t as obvious which to me sounds like something amazing. I don’t know if you’re like that too, but I really can’t stand a stained Beautyblender. I just can’t. It has to be completely clean and free of stains. Therefore this blender is pretty perfect for me.
At first I was quite skeptical about this non-visible stains thingy. I just didn’t buy it. However, in the end it turned out to be pretty true. I say pretty true because you do see a difference between a used Beautyblender PRO and a clean one, but once it’s used it doesn’t look dirty. I like that a lot!
When it comes to texture and feel this blender is somewhat different from the regular kind. I can’t really put my finger on what exactly it is that makes this blender so different from the others, but at this point I feel like the cells of this Beautyblender are a little further apart from each other than they are in the regular blender. I have no clue at all whether that is actually true or not, but that’s what I think.
Because it feels a little more airy it’s a little more light weight and a little more bouncy. I’ve been enjoying using this blender quite a lot I have to say and I might even prefer it over the regular kind. Because I haven’t been using it as long as I have used the regular one I don’t think I can say whether or not it’s better than the regular kind, but so far I do think it is.
Here’s a little shot of my (dirty) regular Beautyblender. IT’s a little cracked at the moment and it’s time for a replacement, but that’s besides the point. I wanted to show and discuss this one to quickly refreshen what the original Beautyblender is like. This blender is (or was) bright pink and it’s slightly smaller than the Beautyblender PRO.
When it’s new the cells are pretty close together compared to the Beautyblender PRO, but it’s still very bouncy and soft. The thing I hate most about the regular blender is that it’s so difficult to clean and that it’s almost impossible to get rid of all of the staining. Aside from that I think it’s an amazing little sponge!
Overall I think that the regular Beautyblender, the Beautyblender nude and the Beautyblender PRO are all amazing little makeup sponges. The Beautyblender nude and the original one are pretty much the same thing but in a different colour, but I do feel like the Beautyblender PRO is slightly different. I do really enjoy using all three, but if I had to choose I’d probably go for the Beautyblender PRO!
All Beautyblenders are available at Douglas, Ici Paris and Sephora for €19,95.
