A while ago I came across this QVC ‘Today’s Special Value’ deal including some BareMinerals products. I had never tried anything from the brand before and I’d always been curious about it, so after watching some reviews and tutorials including the products I decided to buy the set. One of the products that was included in this set is the BareMinerals BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer. I’ve had it for a while now and I’ve giving it a good couple of tries, so I think it’s time for me to review the little guy. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about this concealer, make sure you continue reading this post!
First things first, the packaging. I have to say that the packaging is rather basic. It kind of reminds me of a tube of lipgloss but than a little smaller and a bit more thick. Its lid is just as big as the tube part, which seems a little inconvenient to me. I do appreciate when packagings aren’t abnormally large, especially when the size doesn’t have any purpose. On the bright side, the handle is really nice to hold because of its size so that’s definitely a plus. Overall the packaging isn’t all that interesting. It’s just clear and black and the only decoration on it is the text. Even though it’s not necessarily the most exciting packaging on earth, I do think it’s pretty cool because of its simplicity.
When you open up the concealer the applicator comes out. This concealer comes with a doe foot applicator. These are actually my favourite when it comes to concealers because they are just the most easy and convenient ones to use. It’s not the most hygienic type of applicator so do be careful with using it on blemishes and such, but aside from that, I’m positive about the applicator.
BareMinerals BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer – €28
Enough about the packaging and the applicator, let’s start talking about the concealer itself. According to BareMinerals this concealer is powered by a beneficial anti-again serum. It’s supposed to be full-coverage and have a luxuriously smooth texture that glides on like silk. The so called amazing under-eye concealer is designed to instantly cover the appearance of dark circles, discolouration and other imperfections for a beautifully even-toned complexion. It’s formulated with antioxidant lilac plant stem cells, which makes this multitasking concealer feature high-definition optics to counteract shadows and give the skin an illuminated, lustrous finish. The mineral-coated pigments in the anti-aging serum are supposed to help brighten and diffuse the appearance of dark circles and imperfections while hydrating humectants help to nourish the delicate under eye area.
Overall BareMinerals makes it sound like this concealer does both a great job at covering up your dark circles and imperfections as well as at hydrating and taking care of the skin. I do really love these skincare-meets-makeup kind of products so reading that description did make me very excited to give this concealer a try. However, I do not have any experience with the brand so I had no clue what to expect in regards to whether these claims would be true or too good to be true.
So, after trying it out for a while I do think I have a pretty clear vision on what this concealer is like and whether or not it is like BareMinerals claims it is. But before we jump into those details, I do want to discuss the texture of this concealer for a second.
In general this BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer has a really nice and thin texture. Because it’s called a full-coverage concealer I actually expected something a little thicker than this, but I’m glad it’s this thin and weightless. It does feel really nice on the skin, you can barely feel that it’s there. It also makes this a very easy to blend product. It doesn’t take any effort at all to blend it into the skin.
However, there is something about this texture that is a little strange and that’s why I wanted to mention it before getting started on the claims. The thing is that sometimes when I apply this concealer, there is an area where there’s no concealer and you can see the shape of the applicator. It’s like the area where you applied the concealer is free of actual product. And whatever you try to do to cover it up, it won’t work. You have to work really hard to get rid of this ‘bald spot’ and that’s very, very annoying. Especially when you’re tired and in a rush. I don’t really know what it is about this concealer that makes it do that, but if you know what I can do about it I’m happy to hear it.
Having said that, let’s finally discuss the claims. BareMinerals claimed that this concealer has anti-aging ingredients and that it’s hydrating. Because the area underneath your eyes is pretty thin, I think that this hydrating part is very important. Also because keeping that area well hydrated might result in less wrinkles. For some reason my eyes can’t stand eye creams so this concealer seemed like the perfect product to me. And surprisingly enough it really is. It really does have a very nice and hydrating effect on the skin underneath my eyes. It makes it feel soft and well, well-hydrated, and that creates a really pretty look.
Because of that the fine lines underneath my eyes aren’t as obvious. Obviously I’m only 20 years old so they aren’t very deep or anything like that, but I have to admit that some concealers really accentuate those lines and make me look like I am in fact a lady with a lot of deep wrinkles. I think that the swatch picture you will see in a second really shows what I’m trying to say here.

Left with concealer – right without concealer
Another one of the big claims BareMinerals made regarding this concealer is that it’s a full-coverage concealer. Comparing the before and after I do think that this concealer does an amazing job at covering up my dark circles and they are actually almost fully covered up, but I’m not completely sure if it really is a full-coverage concealer. That because when I use it on blemishes it doesn’t cover them up completely. However, underneath the eyes this concealer does look stunning.
I also just really love the finish of it underneath my eyes. Even though it does have a very high amount of coverage to it, it still looks incredibly natural. It really looks like my skin and that’s a pretty unique effect for this type of a concealer. It also stays looking like this all day long which, to me, is a huge plus. I hate it when my concealer fades throughout the day.
One last thing I like about it is that the colour matches my skin so well. Because I bought it in a set I didn’t have much of a say in which colour I’d get, so that’s always a bit of a gamble. Luckily for me this concealer looks really good on my skin tone. It really looks like it’s exactly my skin tone and that makes it look even more natural.
Overall I do really like the BareMinerals BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer. I have to admit that I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do, but I really do. The only thing about it that isn’t my favourite is the part where it sometimes leaves behind a bald spot, but because the effect is so pretty I think I can forgive it for that. This just really is the most natural, full-coverage I have ever seen or tried and I love that about it! I do highly recommend it if you’re looking for a great under eye concealer!
That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this concealer and which concealer you love using underneath your eyes!
