I guess it was two years ago when I made a new years resolution to take better care of my skin. I’m definitely not one for new years resolutions and I usually don’t even make them, but that time I did. And I stuck to it. Ever since that moment I’ve been way more invested in skincare and I have been on the hunt to find the best skincare products for my skin. Lately I’ve been trying a lot of new products again and since the seasons have changed my skin has changed in what it needs. Therefore I thought it might be fun to share how I updated my autumn skincare routine. If you’re interested in finding out how I did that and what I use now, make sure you continue reading this post!
My evening routine – In the shower
Let’s start off with my evening routine. This seems strange but I do think that’s where my routine starts. That’s when I clean my skin and get it ready for the next day. First of all I want to show you what my routine used to look like at night and then what it is like now. Before I started off with the La Roche-Posay Duo Effaclar Purifying Cleansing Gel. I just used this all over my face to get rid of my makeup, including the eye-makeup. I followed that up with the Tea Tree Wash from The Body Shop and finishing with some Philosophy Purity Made Simple on my Visapure.
This whole routine has changed quite a bit. Recently I bought a new cleanser that I’m still trialling (review will be up soon!). It’s the Chanel Gel Pureté. I use this the same was as I used the La Roche-Posay one. Since it’s much more hydrating and not perse aimed at oily skin it’s not as harsh on my skin and my skin won’t be left feeling stripped. Than every other day I like to follow it up with the Rituals Ritual of Namaste Exfoliator. I bought this very recently as well and it’s phenomenal. Whereas most exfoliators and scrubs are actually harmful for your skin and drying, this one is very, very hydrating. After that I still like to use my Philosophy Purity Made Simple with my Visapure. I will only use the Visapure on days where I don’t scrub because otherwise it might be a bit too much for my skin.
Something I do still want to add to this list is a cleanser from Lush, probably Ultrabland. I’ve been really excited to give that one a try lately, so I might purchase it in the near future!
My evening routine – After showering
When I get out of the shower I also do something to my skin. Before I used to use the Vichy Idealia Peeling. I do still love it, but since I’m almost out of it I kinda stopped using it. Now I have replaced it with the Origins United State Balancing Toner. Since I’m now using quite a lot of hydrating products on my oily skin, I do feel the need to balance it out. Because the rest of my routine is hydrating, this won’t strip my skin at all.
The last step of my routine is using a night time moisturiser. Before I used to use the Vichy Normaderm Night Detox but I ran out of it recently. I do want to repurchase it and keep on using it, but for the time being I’m using my new Philosophy Purity Made Simple Moisturiser. It’s really nice and a review about that will be up soon as well. I’ll keep you posted on that one!
My morning routine
Moving on to the morning. The morning actually hasn’t changed all that much. The main difference is that I try to do more face masks nowadays, so on days when I have a bit of extra time in the morning I like to apply one before I do my makeup. I only do this like once or twice a week. The other days I start off my morning routine with the Bioderma Micellar Water like I always used to do. Whenever my skin is in need of some extra hydration, which happens quite often now it’s getting colder out, I first apply a nice little serum. My favourite is still the Biotherm Aquasource Deep Serum.
Then I apply my moisturiser. For the longest time I have used the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel and I still do really love that. But recently I bought the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Moisturiser and that’s just as amazing, if not even more amazing. It is very hydrating but also very lightweight and therefore it’s just an amazing product for oily skin. It’s the best step before applying makeup because it really gets your skin ready for it. I have only been using it for a short amount of time now, but I’m already in love with it!
With that being said I think we have covered all of my skincare routine changes for autumn. I hope this was interesting to you in any way. Be sure to let me know how you update your skincare routine for autumn!
