Those who know me really well or read my blogs very carefully would know that I’m not a huge fan of shower foams. I just don’t like the fact that you can smell the actual foam through the scent of the product itself. So when Nivea launched their Silk Mousse I didn’t go crazy. However, on Black Friday I was able to get it for a very, very reasonable price and somewhere deep down I was very curious about it. So I ended up purchasing the Nivea Silk Mousse in the Vanilla Caramel scent and I have given it a go. In today’s post I’m going to tell you guys all about it. So, if you’re interested in finding out whether or not this product has changed my mind about shower foams, make sure you continue reading this post!
Before we jump into the details, let’s start off by talking about the packaging. The Nivea Silk Mousse comes in one of those aluminium cans with a pump thingy on top. It’s a very typical packaging for a shower foam kind of product and I also think it’s pretty much the only packaging that works for this kind of product. I do like it though. The thing I like about it is the cap actually. This might sound very random but I like that it is flat and that the plastic isn’t shiny. I just think that makes it look more chic.
The design on the packaging is pretty nice as well. I love the silky look of the yellow colour and the little design on the front. There is quite a lot going on on this packaging, I do have to admit that. But somehow I don’t hate that about it. I really, really like the way this looks.
The packaging comes with 200 ml of mousse and that’s a pretty decent amount in my book. Most regular shower gels come with about 250 ml but 200 isn’t too bad. It’s also a totally different product so that makes it more okay as well. All in all, I’m just a fan of the look of this packaging.
Oh and by the way, please note that these packagings can explode when they’re exposed to heat. It specifically said that from 50 degrees Celsius and up this can be a risk. So beware if you take hot showers and don’t place it on the hot iron part of your shower if you have that!
Nivea Silk Mousse Vanilla Caramel 200 ml – €4,99
According to Nivea their Silk Mousse Vanilla Caramel is the softest shower care product from Nivea. It’s a lightweight, rich shower foam with silk-extract that hydrated the skin making it feel super soft. In combination with the scent of vanilla and caramel this shower foam is supposed to give you a warm and comfortabel feeling. Every (winter)day again. It’s caring, hydrating, softening and pampering.
All in all it does sound like a very proper product. However, I know that Nivea is very good at making things sound just incredible, so I wanted to see before I believed. So I took it to the shower and gave it a good test myself. And well, over all I do completely agree with what Nivea told us. I’m really surprised I ended up loving this shower foam and that’s why I was so excited to review it for you guys.
Having said that I love this, let’s talk about why. Starting with the scent. I did find out that this actually is a limited edition scent of the winter, so if you do love the vanilla caramel combination you should go to the store before spring hits. The scent is described as warm and it definitely is. I do really love warm scents, especially during the wintertime, and this definitely met my expectations. Usually vanilla isn’t my favourite scent, I find it very basic. But the vanilla in combination with the caramel creates something I didn’t even expect. It’s warm with a hint of sweetness. It’s not a super sweet scent, but a luxurious warm caramel drizzly scent. It’s terribly different for me to describe, but think of warm, home made caramel and a touch of vanilla and you’re there.
Like I said I normally don’t love shower foams because the scent of the actual foam, more often than not, interferes with the scent of the product. Surprisingly enough this actually wasn’t the case here. And I’m not just saying that because I’m wearing my love goggles, it’s actually true. This shower foam fully smells like vanilla and caramel and nothing else. This made me really happy.
Moving on to the texture of the product. I feel like this is one of the most hydrating and rich shower foams I’ve ever felt. When you touch the foam you can feel that it’s not very ‘airy’ and empty like some similar products are. You can actually feel the moisture that is locked inside this product. It feels super rich and creamy, but still very lightweight since it is in fact a mousse.
The application and over all experience with this is really nice as well. I normally always use a loofah to wash myself but when I use this foam I don’t. I just use my hands. A little bit of product goes a very long way with this and it just glides over the body. It makes me feel clean and hydrated at the same time. It’s almost like a body lotion and a shower gel in one. After rinsing it off my skin actually still feels really nice and soft and it smells gorgeous.
I think it’s clear that I’m head over heels with the Nivea Silk Mousse in Vanilla Caramel. I have to admit that at first I definitely did not expect to love this. In fact I thought I was going to regret buying it. However, now that I know how amazing it is, I regret not buying more. But well, let’s not go crazy. But it’s definitely a product I’d repurchase. I don’t know about the other scents, I believe they are just as soft. But in terms of scent this is definitely the best thing ever. I love it!!!!
With that being said I’m going to end today’s super enthusiastic post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know if you do love shower foams and if so, which one is your favourite!
