It has actually been a hot minute since Lush launched their naked skincare collection. But they did and I was really excited about. So a couple months back I decided to try a couple of products from this range. One of which is this Lush Amazon Primer Facial Oil. The word ‘oil’ sounds like a nightmare to oily-skin-girls like me, but this facial oil is actually marketed at people with oily skin. So I bought it. I have tried it for quite a while now, so I think I have a pretty proper view of what this facial oil is like on my skin. If you’re interested in finding out what my experience with it is like and what my opinion on it is, make sure you continue reading this post!
The Lush Amazon Primer Facial Oil is a naked skincare bar. It’s a solid piece of oil that melts if you warm it up with the heath of your body. It has an oval shape and mine is green. The colour does depend on which facial oil you end up buying, but the Amazon Primer is green. Lime green. A pretty scary, yet pretty colour. I definitely don’t hate it. The shape of the bar looks nice too. It has a higher lining around the sides and aside from that it doesn’t have much to it.
In order to store it properly you can decide to buy a tin from Lush like the one shown in the picture, or you can store it in any other way you can think of. I currently have it on a little dish. If you live in an area where it’s hot a lot of the time, I do suggest keeping it inside a container or something like that. That might be safer.
The size of the oil is very decent. It might seem like a small little piece. But it does last you a long time. I’ve been using it daily for about 2 months or more now, and it still hasn’t decreased a lot in size. I think the whole thing will last you about half a year to a year, depending on how much product you use at a time.
Lush Amazon Primer Facial Oil – €14,95/£9,95
If you have never used naked skincare before, you might not be sure on how to use this. Or you might think it’s not very easy to use. But in fact, it’s much quicker and easier than a skincare product in any sort of packaging. In the beginning I used to warm it up in between my hands and use the product that transferred onto my hands while doing that to apply to my skin. Nowadays I find it easier to just rub the thing all across my face. If your face (or hands) is rather cold, it does take a quick second for it to melt, but it will and it does very quickly. This way you have the product right where you want it to be and there’s no waste left behind on your hands.
The only downside to that is that after a while, my oil got some hard pieces at the bottom. Let that be the part that I use to rub it all over my face. Well, I can’t say it’s super painful, but it’s not super comfortable either. So that’s one thing you might need to be weary of.
Okay, putting that aside, let’s talk about the facial oil. There are quite a few different version in this collection. Depending on what your skin is like, you can choose this one or another. I chose the Amazon Primer because, first of all, it can be used for its priming benefits. And second of all because it’s supposed to be mattifying. That’s a really nice combo.
Ingredient wise it’s completely natural. All words are marked green on their website. The bar is full of hydrating ingredients like murumuru butter and it gets its mattifying benefits from the arrowroot powder. There’s a lot more to it, but that’s a bit too much to go through for now. Talking about the effects might be more interesting.
I find it hard to decide when to use this product in your routine. If you consider it a serum, you might say it has to happen before moisturiser. However, if you see it as a primer, it’s best used after moisturiser. Both ways I do think it works really well. In terms of priming benefits I definitely notice that it makes my makeup last so much longer. Like a lot longer. At the end of the day, my full face is still a full face.
In terms of skincare I’m also head over heels with this oil. It smells absolutely incredible, very clean, and it does the most amazing thing for my skin. It hydrates my skin really well, while it mattifies it at the same time. It sounds too good to be true, but it’s true. It seems like the powder in this product really soaks up my oil throughout the day.
All in all I think that the Lush Amazon Primer Facial Oil is the most amazing thing in the whole entire world. It’s just genius. It’s super hydrating and mattifying at the same time and it makes my makeup last all day long. Oh, and it smells absolutely incredible too! I did expect it to be a nice product, but I didn’t think that this facial oil was going to be this amazing. I really enjoy using it and I’ll definitely repurchase it in the future. It’s so affordable, yet so incredible! You guys, you have to give this a try!
And with that being said, I’m ending today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading and be sure to let me know what you think of the naked facial oils from Lush!
