I’ve been enjoying the act of putting makeup on my face for quite a few years now. It has been 6 years by now I believe. Obviously a lot has changed in the past 6 years. Makeup got better, I know better techniques and I’m into different kinds of product. But the main difference between 6 years ago and now are the brands I tend to buy. Today I’m going to tell you guys more about that. If you’re interested in reading more about my makeup evolution, make sure you keep on reading!
First things first: skin care. Back in the day I knew nothing about skin care. I rarely used it and when I did I used something very cheap. The worst thing that I did is not care about what it would do to my skin. I only cared about the packaging and the scent.
Nowadays I do care a lot more about skin care. I have quite a big skin care routine and I like using products that do something for my skin that it really needs. It makes such a big difference. Since I’ve started doing that my skin looks and feels so much better and my makeup looks a lot better too!
When it comes to foundation I have made many mistakes. I’ve used way too dark foundations, I used the wrong consistencies and I used the wrong tools to apply it with. Another difference is that I’ve recently made the step from budget proof foundations to more high end foundations.
The main reasons why I made this change is because high end brands have a way bigger colour selection to choose from. Because I’m really pale it’s extremely difficult to find the right colour at the drugstore. Another reason is that I feel like more high end foundation just look better on the skin and I feel like they actually do something for my skin instead of just being a layer of paint that covers up my imperfections.
This change from budget to high end has taken place at almost every makeup category lately. For some reason high end products just look better on my face and I also really like the luxury feeling they have to them. There are definitely lots of good budget options out there, but I just really enjoy using the more high end products.
Overall I think that the main change that took place in all those years is the transition from budget to high end brands. I still really enjoy using and trying out different budget proof products, but lately I’ve been more and more interested in experimenting with luxury brands.
I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and let me know what your makeup evolution looks like!
