Last weekend my friends and I went to the drugstore because there was this amazing sale going on. Almost all of my favourite makeup brands were 50% off. To me this felt like the perfect time to try some new products I haven’t tried yet and to stock up on my all time favourites. Today I’m going to be reviewing one of the new products I decided to give a try, which is a Maybelline lipstick in the shade Intense Pink. If you’re interested in finding out more about it, keep on reading!
The Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick comes in a very basic signature Maybelline packaging. It’s rectangular and has a semi-sheer red lid. I really do like the look of it. First of all because it’s super convenient storage wise and second of all because it looks very sleek and quite classy.
Maybelline has quite a lot of choice when it comes to colour. They have a very wide and huge selection from which you can choose, so pretty much everyone can use at least one of their colours. I personally prefer creamy lipsticks without any shimmer, sheen, whatsoever and I like them to be nude. Of course I do like wearing bolder colours from time to time, but I wear nude colours most frequently, so I decided to go for that. The colour I ended up choosing is called “Intense Pink”.
Intense Pink is a pretty basic but stunning colour. It’s a light pink shade without any shimmer, glitter or sheen to it. I usually don’t go for colours as light as this one, because they tend to make me look dead, but because this one had a tad bit more pink to it than the usual nearly flesh coloured nudes, I decided to give it a shot. And I have to say, I absolutely love it. In fact, this is my favourite nude lipstick at the moment. It looks absolutely amazing with every single look I create and I feel like it’s appropriate for every occasion.
Onto the claims. According to Maybelline these Color Sensational lipsticks are moisturising, they are supposed to create a flexible layer on the lips and they don’t bleed into the fine lines around the lips. In general I would say these claims are pretty much just the truth. That because the lipstick is in fact pretty creamy and therefore it feels quite moisturising on the lips. It doesn’t make my lips feel dry and patchy at all, it actually leaves them feeling soft and moisturised. Besides that it’s also very comfortable to wear because you barely feel it on your lips and it is indeed very flexible.
When it comes to staying put this lipstick does a pretty amazing job as well. It stays in place for at least 4 hours and when it starts to fade, it does it very gradually and without bleeding into the fine lines/ outside the lines. It fades in a way that you can barely tell it’s happening, which I really like.
Pigmentation wise I’m positive as well. The lipstick is opaque enough and it’s definitely buildable. You can either apply one very thin layer and blend it in using your finger, but you can also go over your lips a few times and get that super opaque and pigmented look. It just depends on how you want it to look.
Over all I really like this Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Intense Pink. I think the colour is absolutely stunning and perfect for everyday wear and the quality is just incredible. It stays put for at least 4 hours, even if you talk a lot or if you drink a glass of tea or so and it’s very comfortable to wear. I highly recommend giving this lipstick, or another one from this range, a try. It’s definitely worth the money!
The Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Intense Pink is available at the drugstore for €12,49.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know which lipstick brand you like the most!
