It has been a minute since I last wore nail polish, but I’m totally back at it again. For some reason I was very motivated to wear nail polish again, so motivated that I ended up buying a new one. I actually bought one of the Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Nail Polishes which used to be one of my favourites back in the day. Today I’m going to review it. If you’re interested in finding out whether this nail polish is any good and what it looks like on my nails, make sure you continue reading!
The Maybelline Super Stay nail polishes come in these kind of wide but still very typical nail polish packagings. It’s very simple but it does what it’s supposed to do and because it’s quite a thin jar it doesn’t take in much space. The nail polish comes with a really nice brush which I do appreciate a lot and makes it way easier to apply the nail polish neatly. The brush is quite wide and has a rounded edge. It could cover your entire nail in one stroke, but I do like to go over the nail more than once to get an even better application.
The Super Stay nail polishes by Maybelline are supposed to be very long lasting, like the name already suggests. They actually claim that this nail polish will stay put for at least 7 days. I have to say that I do have very thin and weak nails and almost no nail polish has ever lasted that long on me, but I do have some pretty good experiences with these Super Stay polishes, so I can’t say that there is no hope left that it will actually stay on my nails that long.
Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Colour – €8,99
The colour I bought is called 255 Mauve On. I first of all really like the word play and I love the colour as well. Like the name already suggests this is a mauve coloured nail polish. It’s a bit of a greyish purple shade. On some pictures it might look pretty purple, but it really is way darker than just a normal everyday purple. For me that’s what makes this colour unique and it’s the reason why I bought it. Obviously.
Aside from staying in place for seven days, Maybelline also claims that this is a gel nail colour. Gel nail polishes have been very popular for the past few years and I like them too. The difference between normal nail polish and gel nail polish is that gel polishes stay in place longer, they have a very glossy finish and they have a bit of a different texture. However, traditional gel nail polishes do require one of those UV-lamps, but nowadays there are a lot of so called gel nail polishes that don’t require that anymore.
The quality of the nail polish actually surprised me quite a bit. This nail polish is very, very opaque. Only one layer could be enough. I did apply two because in that case it looks even more full and intense and I really like that look, but if you’re not that into nail polish or if you just don’t care about this particular thing one coat will definitely be enough.
The consistency of the polish is really nice as well. It’s not too dry or sticky and it’s not streaky at all. It applies very easily and smoothly and it spreads evenly across the nail. It dries relatively quick which is always a huge plus in my book and it has a gorgeous glossy finish.
The staying power is another thing that surprised me. Of course it claims to stay in place for 7 days, but that just seemed a little extreme to me. However, this nail polish actually lasted about 4 or 5 days without even chipping and after that the edges started to chip a little but not bad enough for me to remove the nail polish.
Overall I’m actually quite impressed by this Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Colour. The colour is absolutely gorgeous, the texture is really nice, it comes with a very nice brush that makes the application process a lot less terrible and it actually does last super long. I like it!
And that’s everything I have to say about this nail polish. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know which nail polish is your current favourite or which nail polish brand!
