Yesterday I decided it was time to treat myself. I’ve been studying really hard lately and I’ve been working a lot. I decided that I wanted a new MAC lipstick. I wasn’t sure which colour I wanted yet, so I decided to just take a look at the colours in store. When I walked in I saw, to my surprise, that they still had the entire Ellie Goulding collection. Literally everything was still in stock. After trying some lipsticks from the regular range and one from the Ellie Goulding range, I decided to buy the Ellie Goulding one. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about it, make sure you keep on reading!
The Ellie Goulding lipstick comes in a very pretty packaging which is slightly different than the regular packaging, but not too difference. The main difference is that this one is shiny and doesn’t have shimmer to it, while the regular MAC lipsticks have a semi-matte packaging with teeny tiny shimmers to them.
Overall I think the packaging is really pretty. I like the little Ellie Goulding logo, I like the fact that it’s shiny and I also like that they still kept most of the characteristics of the regular MAC packagings. It’s just really pretty.
The Ellie Goulding collection comes with two lipsticks. One of which is called Soft Coral, which is according to MAC a soft coral coloured lipstick. The other one is called Without Your Love, which is the one I have. According to MAC Without Your Love is a warm shell pink colour. I can agree with that. It’s a very lovable pink tone, which is very wearable, and has a gorgeous warm undertone.
On a day to day basis I usually wear nude lipsticks. Well, let me rephrase that. I wear wearable colours on a day to day basis. The definition of wearable might be different for every single one of you reading this, but to me colours like this one are very wearable.
Without Your Love is a colour that goes really well with pretty much every makeup look. It’s not too out there and therefore the perfect lipstick to wear in combination with a darker/more heavy eye look. I also think that it’s the perfect colour to wear on those days you feel like keeping it natural.
Without Your Love is literally the perfect lipstick for everyday wear. No matter what you’re doing, whether you’re just going shopping with your friends, whether you go to work or to school, it’s perfect. It’s even a perfect shade to wear to a wedding. I really love that about it.
When it comes to finishes, I love the Cremesheen lipsticks by MAC. I already have two of them (I believe) and I can’t help but love them the best. The Cremesheen lipsticks aren’t too thick and heavy, but they do have enough coverage. I like that they feel comfortable and moisturising on the lips and I love the pretty creamy finish they have.
Overall the Cremesheen lipsticks are very easy to apply and they look absolutely stunning on the lips. They don’t accentuate dry patches, they don’t make your lips feel like cardboard and they stay in place for quite a long time.
You might wonder why I’m telling you all of this information about Cremesheen lipsticks. Well that is because this Ellie Goulding lipstick is a Cremesheen as well. Just like the other Cremesheens I’ve tried it’s really amazing, has a nice texture, a slight sheen to it and it feels very moisturising and comfortable on the lips.
The only difference between this lipstick and the other Cremesheen lipsticks that I’ve tried is that this one is slightly more sheer. It’s still pretty opaque and it still has great pigmentation. I just feel like it’s a tad bit less opaque as for example Coral Bliss, which is a Cremesheen as well.
Like I mentioned before, the Cremesheen lipsticks stay in place pretty well. This one does so too. It stays in place for about 4 to 5 hours, depending on the amount of lip contact you have (yes I just made up that word, I hope it makes some sort of sense).
Overall I’m really happy I got my hands on this lipstick. I actually wasn’t planning on buying it, but I’m glad I did anyways. It’s a super pretty and wearable colour and quality wise it has really impressed me. I love how nicely it applies and I think the texture is incredible. If you can manage to get your hands on this lipstick, I’d recommend doing so!
The MAC Ellie Goulding Lipstick in Without Your Love is available at MAC Counters and online for €21,50.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you bought anything from the Ellie Goulding collection!
