It’s clear that throughout the years I’ve evolved from a lipstick hater to a lipstick lover. My favourite type of lipstick is creamy and shiny, so when I discovered the Lancome Shine Lover Lipsticks I knew I had to have one. It’s just right up my alley and it seemed to be everything I could ever want a lipstick to be. So, after waiting for a million years like I usually do, I finally bought it and today I’m going to review this gorgeous looking product. If you’re interested in finding out whether it ended up being as perfect as I’d expected, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off with packaging. Lancome is a pretty classy brand so I expected the packaging to look very classy. Even though it does look really pretty, the packaging isn’t exactly what I’d expect from Lancome. It’s mainly white and has some silver lines all over it. It’s very simplistic and basic but I do like it. The reason why I didn’t expect it to look this way is because Lancome uses a lot of silver, so I actually expected the entire packaging to be silver. However, this is a little less over the top and therefore really pretty as well. The packaging also feels very sturdy and well made so that’s a big plus too!
It was very hard for me to choose just one shade out of the entire range, but I ended up going for the colour Twisted Beige. Even though I’ve been really into buying more daring colours from luxury brands lately, especially if they are rather sheer, I still decided to go for something more neutral. I can’t really explain why, but that doesn’t matter anyways.
Lancome Shine Lover Lipstick in Twisted Beige – €27,50
Before I go into more detail I do want to mention that I wasn’t really able to capture the colour of the lipstick perfectly. On these pictures it seems a little darker than it is in real life, but on the swatch it does look exactly what it looks like in real life, so just keep that in mind!
Anyway, Twisted Beige is the perfect nude lip colour. I always find it very tricky to find a great nude, especially if you’re looking for one online, since nude colours look so different on everyones lips. On some girls this colour can look very heavy and bright and for some it can even be too pale. It really just depends on how pigmented your lips are and how deep or pale your skin tone is. For me this is the absolute perfect nude colour. The pink-brown balance is perfect, it’s not too pale in a way it makes me look like a barbie-doll and it’s not too intense either.
Like the name of the lipstick already suggests this lipstick has a shiny, or may I say glossy, finish. Because of that it’s also not the most opaque lipstick in the world, it’s more on the sheer side of the spectrum. It’s not very sheer, it does have a decent amount of colour pay off, but it’s not the most full coverage lipstick. That’s the point I’m trying to make here.
Because of the glossy finish the lipstick feels very comfortable on the lips. It has a very hydrating feeling to it and it also feels very soft and smooth on the lips. You can compare the way this feels on the lips with the way a tinted lip balm feels. Very comfortable and not annoying at all. It’s also not sticky in any shape or form so that’s a huge plus too. Overall it’s just really nice to wear this lipstick because it feels like you’re moisturising your lips and giving them a really pretty hint of colour all at the same time.
Something I like a lot about this lipstick is how smooth and easy it goes on the lips. It’s a buttery lipstick that glides on the lips and applies a nice and even layer of colour. I’m not someone who applies her lipstick without using a mirror because I’m just incapable of that, but with this lipstick I can actually do that because it’s just that easy to apply. It’s fool proof!
Pigmentation wise this lipstick is quite strong for a rather sheer lipstick. Of course it’s not the most pigmented lipstick in the world, but it isn’t advertised like that so that makes it okay. It has a very natural looking coverage and because of that even the brighter shades in this Lancome Shine Lover Lipstick collection are pretty wearable for bright colours like that.
The glossy finish is really pretty as well, it’s pretty glossy but not overly glossy like a lipgloss can be. I think it adds a very luminous and also a very feminine look to the lipstick. It also makes it a bit lighter on the face and more wearable and perfect for everyday wear. Especially when I’m wearing a foundation that looks a little heavy I like balancing that out with a lightweight lipstick like this one for a more natural look.
The staying power of this lipstick isn’t exceptional, but it isn’t disappointing either. With lipsticks like this one it always depends on what you do with your lips how long it will stay in place, but generally speaking this lipstick stays put for about 4 to 5 hours. If you really don’t eat or drink for 8 hours it could stay in place that long, but I don’t think it’s good to not eat or drink for such a long time so I haven’t tested that for you guys.
Overall I’m a huge fan of the Lancome Shine Lover Lipstick in the shade Twisted Beige. I’m really happy with the shade I chose to buy because I think it looks absolutely perfect and because it’s perfect for everyday wear. I’m also a huge fan of the texture of this lipstick, it’s so buttery and smooth and it’s extremely comfortable to wear. In addition to that it also has a gorgeous shiny finish which adds a very fresh and radiant touch to the look. I absolutely love this lipstick and I highly recommend getting it if you’re a fan of natural, glossy lipsticks!
And that’s pretty much it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and be sure to let me know which lipstick is your current favourite and why!
