Not too long ago I figured it was time for me to buy a new mascara. Most of the ones I enjoyed using were empty and the other ones were running low. I decided to order this little mascara set by Lancome, including the Grandiose mascara. Lately I’ve been quite a fan of more high end mascaras and since I’ve heard so many good things about this particular one it seemed like the right time to give it a try.Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about the mascara as well as the two miniatures that came with the set, make sure you continue reading!
Before I go into any detail regarding the products that come in this little set, let’s first discus the packaging and what comes in it. The Lancome Grandiose Coffret Set comes in this white cardboard box. On the box you will find some information regarding the products and regarding the inside of the box (aka what’s in it). It looks pretty okay and nice but nothing too special.
So when you open the box you will find a little plastic thingy with three products: the famous Lancome Grandiose mascara, a miniature of their Bi-Facil Makeup Remover (30 ml) and a miniature of the amazing Lancome Long-Lasting Softening Concealer (5 ml), all together I think that’s a great combination of products for a mascara set. But without further rambling, let’s start discussing the products.
Let’s start off with one of the miniatures, just for fun. This is the Lancome Bi-facil makeup remover. This is one of those removers with the layers which is absolutely perfect for removing mascara or other difficult to remove makeup products. I’ve been using and loving removers like this for ages now, but this one really surprised me.
Without really thinking too much about it I decided to use it to remove my eye makeup. I didn’t really have any expectations or hopes for it, I just wanted to give it a try since it was standing there on my desk waiting to be used. To my surprise it was the best makeup removing experience I ever had. My makeup disappeared in a split second. The product felt so soft and smooth on my skin and there was no need for rubbing my face and eyes in order to remove the makeup.
In my entire life I have never used a product for removing makeup as amazing as this. I have to say that for removing eye makeup I actually prefer it over my beloved Bioderma. It’s incredible and I’m definitely going to buy a full size of it!
Onto the main product of this set, the mascara. I’ve heard lots of things the past few months about the Lancome Grandiose mascara. It has a special wand which apparently works really nice and it’s supposed to make your lashes look incredible. Because of all those positive reviews I read I did have high hopes for this, but I wasn’t sure if it was going to live up to those hopes.
But before getting into that, let’s first discuss the packaging since that is absolutely stunning. It’s elegant, it’s fancy and it’s everything I want to see in a high-end packaging. The biggest part of the packaging is made out of shiny black plastic and the top has this little flower in it. I think it looks incredibly elegant and I really, really love it!
So onto the mascara itself. Let’s take a look at the wand, which is the reason why this is such a special mascara. The wand is a bit crooked. Because of that it’s really easy to reach all of your lashes with it. It minimises the chance of getting mascara on places it doesn’t belong and it allows you to reach every teeny tiny lash on your eye, even the ones you’ll normally never reach.
The bristles on the wand are also different compared to the mascara’s I usually go for. It’s not a big bush of hairs which I like, but it’s also not one of those rubber spiky mascara wand thingies (which is what I normally prefer). Because of this special arrangement of bristles the mascara is capable of adding both a ton of volume and blackness to the lashes as well as separating the lashes really well.
When it comes to the results I have to say I’m very pleased. My lashes have never looked this amazing with this little effort. It’s really so easy and quick to get your lashes to a state where they look super voluminous and gorgeous. It really finishes off the look in the way I want it to and I love that about it.
To make this whole thing even more amazing the mascara is also really long lasting. It stays put all day and it won’t lose its intensity during the day which is a big ass plus for me. I absolutely love this mascara and everything about it!
Now we have discussed the mascara as well as the Bi-Facil Makeup Remover, let’s get started on the last product that came in this set. This is the miniature version of my beloved Lancome Long-Lasting Softening Concealer. I’ve been using that one in shade number 1 for quite a while now and I’ve been loving it a ton, so when I saw a miniature of it came in this little set I was sold.
The only downside to this whole thing is that you can’t choose which shade of concealer you get. This set comes with the concealer in shade number 2, which is okay for my super pale skin tone, but it’s definitely not as perfect as shade number 1. However, I do think it’s nice they added shade number 2 instead of number 5 or number 1 because it is a very versatile shade and I feel like it’s the shade that fits most people best.
I have already written and in depth review on this Long-Lasting Softening Concealer by Lancome, but just for the sake of today’s post I will briefly talk about it a little more. This is a pretty amazing concealer. It has medium to high coverage (depending on how you blend it into the skin) and it has an incredibly nice, not too thick not too thin, texture.
It’s weightless and doesn’t crease and best of all: this concealer stays put no matter what. Cycling through the rain? That’s no problem for this bad boy. Working out big time? No biggie at all. It survives literally anything and that’s why, in my opinion, it’s one of the best concealers out there. It is on the more expensive side, but in my opinion it’s worth every penny.
So overall I’m very pleased with this little set. It’s the same price as the mascara on its own but you get two amazing miniature products with it which are so worth the try. The mascara is even more amazing than I could’ve expected and the Bi-Facil remover is incredible as well. This is definitely one of the best purchases I’ve made in years and I highly recommend giving it a try yourself!
The Lancome Grandiôse Coffret Set is available at Iciparis for €33,21.
