Today it’s finally time for the first Becca review out of the 5 reviews that are coming up. I recently ordered a little set of Becca makeup filled with some gorgeous skin products I couldn’t wait to try out. One of those products is this Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight Stick in the famous shade Champagne Pop. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re curious to find out what it is like and if it’s worth its hefty price tag, make sure you continue reading!
The Becca Slimlights come in a very pretty and sleek packaging. I think it looks absolutely stunning and it’s definitely an eye catcher in your collection. The one that I have has a bit of a rose gold coloured shiny outside and a shiny brown lid. On the front of the stick it says what it is and that’s pretty much everything the packaging has to offer.
I like that the stick does feel quite hefty. It definitely feels luxurious and I think that’s pretty essential when you buy a high end product like this one, isn’t it? It’s made out of great materials and it doesn’t feel plasticy or very breakable at all. Overall I think it’s a great packaging. It looks gorgeous and it’s very well made.
The colour I got is called Champagne Pop. I think most of you guys know this shade since it has been one of the most popular highlighting shades for ages. For those of you who don’t know, at some point Becca did a collaberration with Jaclyn Hill, a famous Youtube guru, and together they created Champagne Pop. Not long after they came out with that it totally blew up and everybody wanted it. Nowadays it’s not as raved about as a year ago, but it’s still a very well known and very respected highlighting shade.
But what do I think of Champagne Pop. Since I’ve only seen it online I obviously had no clue what to expect. It looked different on every picture I saw. After looking through tons of pictures I had a pretty solid idea of what it was going to look like: a bit of a champagne colour with a bit of an orangy/rose tint to it.
In real life it turned out to be a bit more on the yellow side and I don’t really know how I feel about that. To be completely honest with you guys, I’m not in love with the shade. I much prefer Becca’s highlighting shade called Opal, that’s just a little more up my alley.
But enough about the colour, let’s move on to the product. The Slimlight sticks are highlighters in the shade of a stick so you can easily use it all across your face. You can use it to highlight your inner corners, you can use it to highlight your cupids bow, you can do anything with it.
I think the concept is really great, but in my experience things like this never really are a succes. I have to admit that I was quite surprised to find out that I don’t hate the way this works. I actually quite like it. The main reason why I think this product doesn’t disappoint me is because of its texture. Lot’s of highlighting sticks are quite rough and hard to get onto your skin. This one is very soft, smooth and silky and the product glides on your skin without putting in any effort, it’s really great.
The intensity of the highlighter is about perfect for me. It’s not incredibly intense, you’re not drawing a mirror onto your face, but it does have enough pigmentation to show up and make a difference on your face. It’s also pretty buildable so if you’re not satisfied with the amount of glow you can always take it to a higher level.
Overall I think the Becca Slimlight highlighting stick is pretty great. It’s for sure a lot better than I initially expected it to be and it’s a great product to have. I’m not sure if I would’ve bought it on its own, but now that I have it I’m really happy with it and I do use it quite frequently!
The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight in Champagne Pop is available at Babassu for €31,50.
