Nude lipsticks have been trendy for quite a while now, especially brown nudes. Usually I like to stay away from colours like that because I feel like they just don’t look good on me, but because I read so many amazing things about the Essence ones, I felt like I just had to at least give one a try. I ended up buying the colour Cool Nude and after testing it, it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about it, keep on reading!
The lipsticks from this nude range by Essence come in slightly different packagings than the regular lipsticks. Instead of being black, these are about the same colour as the lipstick itself. I kind of like the packaging, I don’t love it, but it’s at least a little more exciting than the plain black ones. What I do love about the packaging is that it doesn’t feel cheapish at all. Even though these lipsticks are super affordable, the packaging feels quite good.
The Long Lasting Lipstick range by Essence is not new to me. I have tried one lipstick from that range before, and surprisingly enough, despite the scent, I really liked it. I wasn’t expecting that because before I had only tried one other Essence lipstick and that was absolutely terrible. But that just shows how much progress budget beauty brands are making right now.
Cool Nude is pretty one of a kind in my collection. It’s not a colour I would usually gravitate towards and it’s definitely not a colour I would have bought if I hadn’t read all the good things about it. But, even though it’s not something I would have chosen myself, it’s still a really pretty colour. I would describe Cool Nude as a mauvy colour with a dash of pink. A very unique combination/colour, but very pretty.
But besides colour, there are a few more features about a lipstick that matter to me. Things like texture, pigmentation, staying power, the way it feels on the lips and whether or not it leaves my lips feeling dry or moisturised.
As you can tell, the pigmentation is pretty much amazing. After one swipe across my lips, my lips are fully covered in lipstick. Another amazing thing is the finish. The lipstick has a very pretty natural sheen to it. It’s not glossy, it’s not shiny, it’s more like a sheen, caused by the creaminess of the lipstick.
Because of this creaminess the lipstick is very comfortable to wear and it feels really moisturising on the lips. I think that’s one of the most important features a lipstick should have, since comfortability is a very important thing to me.
And lastly, the staying power. Even though these lipsticks are called Long Lasting Lipsticks, you shouldn’t expect too much from them. I’m not saying they are bad or anything, but you just can’t compare them to a MAC lipstick or a L’Oreal lipstick.
Over all I think the Essence Cool Nude lipstick is pretty amazing. The pigmentation is great, the texture is lovely and it’s very comfortable to wear. If you’re, just like me, trying to experiment with different colours lipstick, this is definitely a great option. However, if you’re looking for something long lasting, you might have to look further, ’cause you’ll probably not like this.
The Essence Long Lasting Lipstick in Cool Nude is available at the drugstore for €2,39
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you have tried a lipstick from this range yet!
