Primer is one of the most important steps in my daily makeup routine. Therefore I love trying out new ones, and hopefully finding the one I have been looking for for forever. Today I’ll be reviewing my newest primer, the Essence Oil Control Makeup Base. I’ve heard good and bad things about it, so I decided to find out wether is good or not myself. If you want to find that out too, keep on reading!
The primer comes in a quite small white and red tube. It contains 20 ml of product, which is a decent amount for primer. On the front it gives you some general information on the product. It says that it’s long-lasting and pore refining. This primer is from the all about matt collection, so it’s supposed to mattify your skin as well.
Essence says that this primer is a lightweight base for a long-lasting matt and smooth finish. It’s specially formulated with evermat complex. It’s supposed to balance out oily skin and minimize the appearance of pores. You can use this on it’s own or underneath your makeup.
I do have to say that this primer is indeed really lightweight. It’s a very thin substance which makes it easy to blend into the skin. It sinks into the skin quite fast and it it gives my skin a healthy finish. Not completely matt, but not as oily as it was before I put it on.
About the pores, I’m not sure. To be honest that’s not really the thing I care about when it comes to primers. I can say that it does make your skin look smooth, so that’s a big plus.
I like that this primer really keeps it’s promises. I really feel like my makeup stays on a lot longer when I use this stuff. After a long day of school, my foundation is still where it’s supposed to be and my concealer hasn’t left. I love that about it.
I also feel like it keeps my skin matt. Of course there will always be some oil on my skin, but it really helps keeping it as oil free as possible. That’s the most important thing to me.
Over all I’m very impressed by this primer. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I think this is one of the better primers I’ve ever used. It really does what it promises and it’s very affordable. I would really recommend this to everyone out there struggling with oily skin. I really feel like this stuff works!
I hope you enjoyed reading this review, and let me know what your favorite primer is!
