A while ago I started to notice that my beloved Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil was nearly gone and I had to act fast and buy a replacement. Because I’m a makeup fanatic I didn’t just repurchase that one, even though I love it, because I always like to try out something else. While surfing the web trying to find something new I came across this pencil by IT Cosmetics, the Brow Power. I decided to buy it and give it a try. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out how I ended up liking it, make sure you continue reading!
So, first things first, the packaging. The IT Cosmetics Brow Power comes in a shiny silver box with some text and stuff on it. It’s fairly simple but it does look quite feminine and cute. From the inside it’s bright pink and it has a little divider wall thingy in it that divides the box into two parts. On one side of the box you’ll find a small little booklet with some information regarding the product and whatnot. On the other side you will find the pencil.
The pencil itself is packaged in a very, very basic packaging. I don’t really like it because of that and I don’t really get why they kept it this simple. I don’t have anything against minimalistic looking packagings but this is just plain boring. However, on one end it has a little spoolie and on the other side the pencil. Aside from that it only says what it is and that’s all.
So, the thing that makes this pencil so unique and interesting is the fact that it claims to be universal. With that they mean that the colour will be right for literally everyone. Whether you have platinum blond hair or black, this pencil will be great for everyone. I was quite skeptical about that. Because of their little sales talk and their explanation on how it works I got slightly more convinced, but still, I was skeptical.
So, now that I received the pencil I can obviously tell you a little more about this universal colour thing. The way they say it works is: if you put more pressure on it, the colour will be darker. If you use it with a very light hand, the colour will be lighter. In other words: if you have light hair be very light handed, if you have darker hair, put a little more pressure on it.
I don’t think that it’s very innovational that it works like that because everything is darker once you put more pressure on it and I’m still not completely convinced it would be light enough for people with very light hair. But for me, I have light to medium brown hair, it works pretty much fine when it comes to the colour.
Another special thing about this pencil is the tip. Instead of a regular pencil shape, this brow pencil has a more oval shaped tip. I do really like it when pencils have some sort of different shape that makes it quicker to work with so for me this is a big plus. This way this pencil is a lot quicker to work with because you don’t have to cover everything with such a small tip, and it helps creating very sharp and precise lines. I think it’s very personal whether you prefer this or a normal tip, but for me this is great.
When it comes to the texture I have nothing special to say actually (that’s new). It’s just a great eye pencil. The pencil is not too waxy but not too hard either. It’s just very nice and I like it. The texture is also great when it comes to staying in place cause whatever happens, it just doesn’t budge.
So, having said all of that, let’s move on to a picture of me actually wearing this product. At first I wasn’t sure whether or not I liked the way it looked. Now that I’ve been wearing it for a while I’m sure I like it. Even my boyfriend likes it, he told me that my brows looked very good when I wore this product. Considering the fact that he is a guy and he doesn’t know nor care even a bit about makeup, I think that does mean quite a lot.
So, overall it looks good. It’s a very quick and simple product to work with, you don’t have to sharpen it, the tip works nice and you don’t have to worry about the colour, especially not if your hair is a similar colour as mine is. I also think that the effect is very natural and that it doesn’t look overdrawn that quickly and that makes it a very fool proof product. So even if you’re new to makeup, you might really like this product!
Overall I’m a big fan. I wasn’t sure at first whether or not I actually liked the look of this product, but after wearing it for a while I came around and ended up loving it. It’s the first IT Cosmetics product I have ever tried and it makes me want to try even more products by this brand. Aside from the pretty lame packaging this is absolutely incredible and I highly recommend giving it a try!
The IT Cosmetics Brow Power is available at QVC (as a duo) for €28,20.
