A while ago I showed you guys the products that came in the November edition of the Styletone Box. One of those products was this liquid lipstick by Cailyn. I usually don’t go for liquid lipsticks like this because I just really don’t like the way they feel on my lips, but because I really liked the colour I decided to test it and review it. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about this gorgeous product, keep on reading!
The Cailyn Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint comes in a very stylish packaging. The tube itself is clear and has some black text on it and the lid is silver. It’s very minimalist but pretty. It’s clean, simple and looks quite professional to me. The applicator it comes with is quite big and rounded at the tip. When I saw this I wasn’t sure it that was going to work for me, but honestly, I liked it.
As I mentioned a gazillion times before on my blog, I really suck at applying lip products. For that reason I try to stay away from liquid lipsticks like this one, since they require a lot of precision, and I don’t have that in my body. But I have to say, applying the product with this applicator went quite well. You should definitely take your time to apply it, but if you do so, you have quite a big chance of nailing it. Aside from the fact that I did accidentally overline my lips a bit with this product, I feel like I did quite an amazing job when it comes to applying it!
The colour I received is called 9 Nudist. It’s a very pretty rosy pink colour that is perfect for everyday wear. Because it’s a liquid lipstick I won’t say it does look natural, but it’s definitely not a super bright shade. I think this colour would look great with every makeup look you can possibly create and I think it would look good on pretty much everybody, which to me, is always a plus.
There are a few reasons why I don’t like liquid lipsticks a lot. One of the reasons being that they make my lips feel super, super dry and patchy. And even though I whish I could say this one isn’t like that, I can’t. This is definitely one of those typical dry liquid lipsticks. If you don’t mind that, or of you’re at least able to live with that, this might be a great product for you, but if you prefer comfortable lip products, skip this one.
Another reason why I don’t really like liquid lipsticks is because they tend to fade in a horrible looking way. Instead of gradually fading, pieces will come off and you’ll end up with a lot of colour along the edges of the lip and nothing in the middle. This one does that too. Especially when you drink something or brush your teeth. Because I prefer care free lip products, this is not a product I’ll be gravitating towards a lot.
On the other hand, liquid lipsticks do have some positive features to it. For example, they do last very long. This particular one is also very long lasting and will definitely stay in place for at least 4 hours. But, you do have to keep in mind that if you get anything moist on your lips it will fade.
Pigmentation wise this liquid lipstick is amazing. It’s very pigmented and covers up my lips completely. I really like the look of it. I also like that even though it doesn’t completely cover up the fine lines, it doesn’t accentuate them either.
I also really like that this liquid lipstick is transfer proof (unless it’s wet, then you should be careful). It doesn’t transfer onto anything, which makes it a perfect product to wear on a date or to a party.
Overall I think the Cailyn Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint is a pretty decent product, but it’s not for me. I like wearing moisturising lipsticks that are very comfortable to wear and make your lips feel really soft. This one isn’t like that. But even though it’s nothing for me, I still think quality wise it’s pretty good. The pigmentation is great, it doesn’t transfer and it stays in place pretty well. The only downside is that it does fade in a pretty ugly way and it just isn’t the most comfortable thing in the world. But overall it’s not a bad product!
The Cailyn Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint is available here for $19,-.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you like using liquid lipsticks.
