Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation

02/12/2017

For the longest time I’ve been meaning to try the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation. I already love the Bobbi Brown Longwear Even Finish foundation so I figured this would be a great product as well. Recently I finally decided to buy it and I’ve been wearing it ever since. Since I’ve been wearing it so much lately I felt like it was about time to spread the word about this product and write a review about it to let you guys know everything there is to know about this Bobbi Brown Skin foundation. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation, make sure you continue reading!

Just like most other Bobbi Brown product, this foundation comes in a very simple and minimalistic packaging. The bottle is made out of glass and the lid, as well as the pump and the text on the bottle, is black. It’s very minimal but I do think it looks very professional. That could be because I know it’s Bobbi Brown, but it could also be because minimalism has something classy to it. I can’t really put a finger on it. Anyway, the bottle comes with 30 ml, or 1 FL. of product which is very standard and therefore a totally okay amount of product.

Like I mentioned before I have already tried the Bobbi Brown Longwear Even Finish foundation. I’ve actually already used up an entire bottle of that and repurchased it. That foundation really made me fall in love with Bobbi Brown. But, it’s a rather matte foundation and lately I’ve been loving somewhat dewy foundations as well, so I figured the Bobbi Brown Skin foundation would be great for that.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15 – €47

One of my favourite thing about the Bobbi Brown foundations is that they come in a very wide selection of shades. There are in fact 26 different shades in total ranging from very pale to some proper deep colours and everything that’s in between. For me the Bobbi Brown Longwear Even Finish foundation was the first foundation that actually was a perfect match for my skin tone, which is sad but also quite impressive. Therefore I decided to go for that same shade in this foundation, which is called 0 Porcelain. This is the second lightest shade in the range and it is perfect for very pale girls like me. It has a rather neutral undertone which looks very flattering on my skin.

What I like about this foundation is that it’s true to its colour. It doesn’t oxidise throughout the day and it also doesn’t dry down and turn a little darker. The way it looks in the bottle is exactly the way it will look on your face. It really is a great product when it comes to shade!

But enough about the shade, let’s move on to the claims and the quality of this foundation!

First let’s go through the claims. According to Bobbi Brown their Skin Foundation is a lightweight, water-based foundation that instantly hydrates and freshens the complexion. It’s perfect for combination, normal and normal to dry skin types. They also say that it gives a fresh look to the face, that the coverage is buildable and that it evens out the skin tone while looking completely natural. They also say it’s a long wearing foundation and that its formula resists streaking. It’s also supposed to provide broad-spectrum protection from the sun’s damaging rays. Lastly they tell you to shake the foundation before using it.

Overall they make it sound like it’s going to be a very comfortable, natural but still perfecting foundation. A foundation that is going to make your skin look flawless without looking like you’re wearing any foundation at all. And you guys, I don’t want to get ahead of myself but I really want to tell you that it is exactly that. This foundation is literally all of your skin-dreams in a bottle. I’m not even joking!

So let’s go into more detail talking about why this foundation is such a dream. Starting off with the formula, one of the most important features of a foundation. Like Bobbi Brown told us earlier this is a water-based foundation. You can tell that it is by how watery the consistency is. It’s a very thin and runny foundation. I did kind of expect that when I bought it, but somehow I didn’t expect it to be this runny. However, I don’t mind it. Because of the thin consistency it’s a very lightweight foundation, you don’t feel it on your skin at all.

Another perk of the thin formula is that you only need a little bit of it. It goes very far, so only two pumps is enough to cover up my entire face while usually I definitely need three pumps. This way I don’t have to use as much product which could prevent cakiness, but it also makes sure my bottle will last me longer which is a great thing as well. Especially since this is a rather pricy foundation.

The last thing I want to mention about the formula is that it has a very natural look to it. Because it’s thin and lightweight it just looks like skin. This is really one of those ‘second-skin’ foundations. And even though I don’t mind a bit of cake, I do love this natural finish.

Moving on to the application. I don’t know what it is about this foundation but it goes on so incredibly smoothly. I usually always struggle with properly blending in my foundation, I always end up having a spot where it hasn’t been blended well or where it has gathered up a little, but I haven’t experienced a single thing with this foundation. Whether I’m in a hurry and quickly blending it in, whether I’m half asleep or whether I’m taking my time, this foundation always ends up looking absolutely incredible. Really incredible. And that makes this a very fool proof foundation and perfect for days where you’re in a hurry or don’t have the best lightening. It will end up looking pretty anyways.

When it comes to the finish I’m a big fan as well. I already expected this foundation to have a rather dewy finish because it’s supposed to be a very skin-like foundation and I was pretty much right about that. I do have to say that it’s not dewy in an oily kind of way, but in a natural way. It just accentuates that natural glow of the skin and makes you look like your skin is as healthy as ever. I really like that look. Even though I do have pretty oily skin, I think the finish looks gorgeous!

Moving on to the coverage. Bobbi Brown claims that this foundation has a buildable coverage. The Douglas website tells us it’s supposed to have medium to high coverage. Even though I have heard lots of people say this is a light to medium coverage I definitely think it’s a good medium and I agree with the claim that it’s buildable. It is one of the most buildable foundations I’ve ever seen and it just looks so pretty when it has been build up, not cakey at all. But the point is that when you build it up you can definitely get high coverage out of it and end up with a flawless complexion. It’s the prettiest foundation ever!

Lastly I want to talk about the staying power for a bit. Bobbi Brown claims that this is a very long wearing foundation and Douglas also tells us that it’s supposed to stay in place for up to 12 hours. And to be honest, I agree with that, I completely agree. This foundation stays in place so incredibly well. You might not expect that from a dewy foundation like this one, but it just stays put all day.

Overall this is the best foundation I have ever tried and I’m not exaggerating. I have never had a foundation that has the exact right shade, the perfect amount of coverage, a lightweight formula, smooth texture, extremely easy application, natural look, dewy/natural finish and an incredible staying power. This foundation really has it all and I never want to not use it anymore! It’s the best of the best!

With that being said I think it’s time to end this post. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know if you have any experience with this foundation and which foundation is your current favourite!
