Back in Poland I purchased two Bobbi Brown lipsticks. One in the shade Brownie Pink, which I reviewed quite some time ago, and one in the shade Suntan Pink which is the one I’m going to be reviewing today. These are my first Bobbi Brown lipsticks ever and so far I’ve been pretty impressed by them. But since this one is from a different range than Brownie Pink there’s always a chance I won’t like this one just as much. Anyway, today I’m going to be talking about the Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color in the shade Suntan Pink and if you’re interested in reading about that just keep on reading!
First things first: packaging. Bobbi Brown has a very simplistic style when it comes to their packagings. They use a lot of black, white letters and every now and then some gold detailing. This lipstick has all of that. The main part of the packaging is black, the metal parts are gold and the text is white. It’s very simple and elegant and I like it a lot. The shape of the packaging is very pretty as well, it’s quite a slim tube compared to the other Bobbi Brown lipstick packaging I own, and I really like that. After all it’s way more convenient for storage than a big bulky tube would be, right?!
Bobbi Brown has several ranges of lipstick. They have the normal range which is just called ‘Lip Color’. They have their Luxe Lip Color range, a range with shimmery lipsticks, rich lipsticks, lip tints, a new collection with very pigmented lipsticks, a few lip crayons and this Nourishing Lip Color range. I don’t really know what it was exactly that made me decide I wanted one from this range, but I just gravitated towards it. I always have pretty dry lips throughout autumn and winter so a nourishing lip product seems great for my lips.

The shade I ended up buying is called Suntan Pink. First of all I want to say that I really like that name, it’s just adorable. I always appreciate it when brands take the time to name their products. It just makes the product feel a little more special. Anyway, Suntan Pink is a very pretty pink colour with a brown undertone to it. Because of that brown tone it’s a little more toned down than it would be if it’d be just pink and that makes it a little more natural and wearable for everyday. The name Suntan Pink describes the colour pretty well. It really looks like a tanned pink and I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. I think it’s a perfect shade for girls who do want to try or start wearing more brown toned lip colours but don’t want to go full on brown just yet. It’s the perfect in between colour. I love it a lot!
A colour like this one is also very versatile. It’s a colour that can be worn to pretty much any occasion because it’s so natural and wearable and it can be combined with so many looks because it’s not a very overpowering lip colour. It’s just a colour that adds the finishing touch to the completed makeup look and it’s great to have a colour like that.
The only thing I’m not sure about when it comes to the shade is whether it would look good on everybody or not. I do think it’s a colour that will suit many skin tones, but definitely not all.
Moving on to the claims. According to Bobbi Brown this is a nourishing wash of color for the lips that is infused with many great ingredients such as avocado, babassu, jojoba oils, olive oil complex, cocoa seed butter and vitamin C and E. Together these ingredients treat the lips with deep hydration while creating a barrier that locks in moisture. The potent formula is supposed to condition the lips instantly and over time, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, for smooth and supple lips. The rich color pigments in the lipstick are supposed to suspend in a lightweight, clear base for pure, crisp color with a brilliant even finish.
Overall Bobbi makes it sound as if this is the most comfortable, hydrating lipstick in the world and that it’s a pigmented, smooth lipstick with a crisp colour. I really like how she described this lipstick and if it really is as amazing as they make it sound I think this is a killer lipstick. I mean read it, doesn’t that sound the ideal lipstick?
Having said that let’s go through the claims and find out whether Bobbi is telling us the truth or not. Starting off with the hydrating part since that’s one of the main features of this lipstick. Overall I do think that this is a very nourishing lipstick, one of the most nourishing ones I have ever tried actually. You can tell by looking at it on your lips how hydrating it is and you can feel it as well. Because of that it’s a very comfortable product to wear but also a very convenient one when your lips are dry but you still want to wear a little colour on the lips.
Bobbi also said that this lipstick moisturises the lips instantly and over time. Usually when a lipstick is hydrating that effect fades within the hour, but in fact this lipstick does stay hydrating throughout the day. It feels very comfortable because of that and it really makes a difference in the quality of my lips. I feel like it really reduced fine lines and dry patches and that’s a big plus.
I also think that this is a very forgiving lipstick because of the fact that it is this nourishing. Sometimes, if you have dry patches on your lips, a lipstick can accentuate that. This lipstick on the other hand actually reduced the look of those patches. Thanks to that this lipstick always looks stunning on the lips, whether they are hydrated or dry, it just looks amazing!
Moving on to the application. Bobbi claims that this is a lightweight formula and that it has a brilliant even finish. While applying the lipsticks you can instantly tell both claims are true. It goes on very, very smoothly and very evenly. You don’t have to work for it in order to get it to look good. It also feels very lightweight and that makes this lipstick even more comfortable to wear.
Pigmentation wise I’m not disappointed at all. I feel like Bobbi doesn’t make it sound like a very opaque lipstick in her claims while actually it is very pigmented. It’s a very rich colour but it doesn’t feel as heavy as a rich lipstick would normally feel which is absolutely amazing. I love how it looks. I love the glossy finish because it makes the lipstick look more natural and also a bit more feminine in my opinion. I just think glossy lips look a little sexier than matte lips do, which is why I prefer my lips to be glossy.
When it comes to staying power I’m quite positive as well. I wouldn’t say this is the most longlasting lipstick I’ve ever worn in my entire life but it does hold up very well throughout the day. It doesn’t move as much as you would expect it to and it’s not that transferable. It just stays in place really well for about 3 to 6 hours depending on how much lip-activity you’re having.
Overall I’m a big fan of this Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color in Suntan Pink. I absolutely adore the colour, it’s the perfect brownie nude colour that is perfect for every occasion. But what I love even more about this lipstick is how nourishing it is. It’s so comfortable and it actually conditions my lips throughout the day and makes them less dry and patchy. It works better than a regular chapstick. Overall I’m just very impressed and if you’re interested in trying a nice and nourishing lipstick I definitely recommend getting this one!
And that’s about it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know which lipstick is your current favourite and what you think of this colour!
